RIM shows off BlackBerry 6 on video
While RIM's WES 2010 keynote is still ongoing, the company's YouTube channel has kindly released the first teaser video for the incoming BlackBerry 6 operating system. There's a lot of movement on screen -- so much, in fact, that it's almost like RIM really doesn't want you to see the OS at all. We did catch sight of a Cover Flow-aping music organizer, an onscreen keyboard engaging in some threaded messaging, Facebook and Twitter clients, and even the briefest of glimpses at that famed WebKit-based browser. Interaction in the video is done via touch, but you'll naturally be able to utilize the new interface on more conventional, touch-less devices as well. Skip past the break for the moving pictures.

I know we are all trying to out hip each other here but that actually looks like a good update to an already functional OS.
Am i the only one that thinks this commercial is just a stupid ripoff of the palm one?
The OS itself looks like they just tried to hack together parts from android, webos and iphone into some frankenphone shit.
Not very impressive or original.
Flash and Multitasking....nice!
This ad is idiotic beyond belief.
Isn't BB's target demographic business users? So what's with the hip hop, the stupid dancing, and the emphasis on college parties and getting wasted.
This is WORSE than the creepy Palm Pre ads. With that, Palm had no idea who their target demographic was so at least there was an excuse.
Blackberry clearly has a demographic, but it seems they're abandoning it completely, or they have no idea how to market to them.
What "business" user will enjoy watching this?????
im dying i think this should be the music video it has enough corny dancing.... anyways im glad to see BB do something good with the OS it looks promising to me
I think it looks pretty clean and logical from what I can see. Also very true to blackberry which should mean that things just WORK. RIM does not sacrafice funaction for form. The real test will be the real world usability. WebOS is still the best mobile OS but this has allot of promise.
RIM to me is like Nokia playing catchup on an old OS...But i am more impressed here than Symbian^3 OS.
is it me or did no one catch the guy "Hump" the screen @ 1:05? looks like someone is getting lucky!
I'd prefer they fix their crummy desktop software... Blasted thing is so clunky it makes ActiveSync look good in comparison.
I swear.. that blackberry os menu screen looks alot like my concept picture for Symbian^4....
Look at it over here http://developer.symbian.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4510&page=3
The shortcuts down below when flicked upwards reveal the menu..kinda coincidental that blackberry has this aswell. And the time and date are sort of similar.
If I was dancing like that to use my phone I'd want MY face hidden too...
I'm pretty sure one of the dancers was Justin Timberlake circa 2000.
I wonder if ads worsen exponentially when two bad ad companies come together? Well, it's too late to find out cus Palm will be bought by HP.
