Apple's WWDC kicks off on June 7th this year
Sure, you might hear the words "Worldwide Developers Conference" and start to yawn, but in Apple parlance we're looking at a likely announcement of a new iPhone (the 3GS was shown at last year's event) and maybe a sneak peak at a new version of OS X. Whatever else Apple might have in store for all of us is anyone's guess, but suffice it to say that we expect to be bringing you the meat from the opening keynote just like always, though specifics on that keynote have yet to be announced. PR is after the break, full of non-revelatory software development topics that will be covered at the conference.

New iphones!
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
now I have to sell my old 3G asap... gotta get what I can for it now so I have more money to go towards the new iPhone.
Will be held at the OLD Gawker Media HQ.
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah I hope the leaked version and we can see somthing with the screen size of the HD2!!
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
Hopefully with better design than that image. The twist in the background- where it fades to white- does in the wrong direction. Somewhere on the right it changes directions such that it couldn't meet correctly behind the second W
@Unverified User
and guess who didn't get their invites in the mail.....
Techblog proverb: An apple a day keeps trouble away.
@metaesapuet
i lol'd
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
YESSS!
Selling my iPhone around May 20th...
@JoeRodricks
I think it's supposed to represent a similarity to a barred spiral galaxy. "Center of the app universe"
I know universe != galaxy, but it's a loose association I guess.
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
New phones is great and all, but I have this exclusive tip about something Apple is working on that's really sweet...hold on one sec...police are at the door for some reason...brb.
Can anyone name all the apps in the article pic? I'll give 'ya a dollar. =P
@AppleDrank So please tell us everything you know about the next iPhone. Whats the screen resolution? How much capacity will it have? Will it have 802.11n? What new software will it ship with to use with that front-camera? How much RAM and what CPU is it using? When will it be available to buy?
@rkmac Thanks 2 Gizmo, I am "no more" patiently waiting for WWDC 10. I already saw the next iPhone. Now my 3GS is up for sale, time to think big, it was a cool device but cool isn't my priority, I'm looking for a powerfull device and a bigger screen size among other things. Is there a device that can match the capabilities of winmo classic or palm OS with a nice UI. I fear android is not as mature as winmo and BB OS 5 UI doesn't looks very appealing. Is Web OS suitable for a power user? (hopefully WebOS 2.0 will come out)
Any suggestion? I want file transfer over Bluetooth/wifi, pairing with any Bluetooth device without restriction, sync over wifi/Bluetooth, ad card or USB host, drag&drop, print directly from the app, download & upload in the browser, flash support, led notification, 4 inch screen min etc.
I think a HTC HD2 is my best bet right now.
Ps. I'm not into games on mobile phone, I tried but it's just fun for 1min.
@Unverified User
and guess who didn't get their invites in the mail.....
@NextGen EVO 4G. Enough said.
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
Can't wait to see HOW Steve unveils the new iPhone. It'll be comical if he maintains the status quo and does the usual 10-minute cocktease before the image of the phone we've all seen shows up on the display above him.
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
Why did they call the iPad "magical" in the press release up there? Don't they know that everyone laughs at them for saying that? They are caricatures of themselves.
@AppleDrank
Did you know that Engadget has a non Apple web site? Go try that and maybe you won't be so angry.Otherwise, there's medicine for anger problems. Have a nice day.
@rkmac
I preemptively sold my 3G 16GB in February on Ebay.....Got freaking $400 for it!
Talk about Apple products holding their value!
@Blacknimbus: Don't worry about the police...

@NextGen I agree with what you said about games on the phone and that hd2 is your best bet right now it has more of the professional feel that android lacks (coming from someone with a droid so don't hate me) and I would go with web OS but it has a smaller screen than what you would like however it has a bit of a fun to use feel to it and ease of use along with great multi tasking, if they came out with a hd2/droid sized screen WebOS phone it would be one of if not the best phone. It's messaging service blends together everything seamlessly. Hd2's windows is windows but im pretty sure you'll be able to dual boot soon on it (with android) and its pretty good for browsing internet and you should know the rest if you've used a windows phone before.
@patp Or you can wait for the EVO 4g!
Na, you have it wrong - its now
Don't piss off Apple today and keep the gun toting Jackbooted thugs away!
@SolidSnake
Gizmondo lol
@rkmac
I got rid of my 3gs after I've seen the prototype, double the resolution & in a thinner package & probably same price when it releases.
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah The latest about the verizon iPhone is that, it could be released later on 2011, and in fact, a rumor that an "iPhone HD" version will be release this year. Sources.. http://bit.ly/verizon-4g-iphone-impressions
@SolidSnake no joke. they lost their Apple ads after reaming the company over not revealing anything about Jobs health until he had to take a leave.
now they likely lost all invites, review copies etc.
AND other companies might start doing the same as a show of distain for what they did.
all for the stupid mistake of admitting they had the phone and not using "An anonymous source" which would have been protected under shield laws.oops
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah
OOH! I wonder if we'll find any new information about WP7!
@Dr Kwame Nkrumah I JUST WANTED TO KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE RETURNED THEIR IPADS. I HAVE BEEN TO A FEW BEST BUYS AND I WAS TOLD FROM EACH ONE AT LEAST 15. I WENT TO A APPLE STORE AND WAS TOLD AT LEAST 20 PEOPLE RETURNED THEIRS OR TIRED TO.
SO I WANT TO SEE THE NUMBER OF RETURNS.
@Darkseider Why don't Android fanboys know how to read? The guy said he feared the immaturity on Android, and you give him an Android phone, as an example?
@SolidSnake gizmondo?
Queue Rocky theme song now.
@zephxiii
Why?
@zephxiii Will Jason Chen be there?
@Evin He better come in disguise because Apple's after him! Better yet he better not come at all!
@Techeternity Probably be in jail.
@Evin While Jobs is doing the keynote Jason should pop out Kanye style.
They should totally have Jason Chen do the iPhone announcement. In handcuffs and a Gitmo suit. That would be the only WWDC I ever wanted to attend.
@whySoSerious
You said it. Maybe they should have the 1984 commercial playing on the screen behind them as they walk him out.
@whySoSerious He works for Gizmo, not Gitmo!
@Bosco
Just Google "gitmo" for a sec...
I'm guessing Gizmodo's invite will get lost in the mail.
@chris2 Probably earlier...
@chris2
lol...
@chris2 There's no invites unfortunately, you have to buy the tickets for $1500, but I doubt they'll be able to come up with that after Apple's lawyers and the state of California are done with them…
@chris2 I bet engadgets reall glad they were not the ones who dropped the cash on it now ;) They got to post the story and still have their invite in the mail most likely. Though i wouldn't be surprised if Job's takes Josh on the side and has a STERN talking to him. Like anyone wants to F*ck with apple now! haha
@chris2
.. Or at a bar!
@chris2 Apple to Gizmodo: "Try liveblogging with no computers motherf***ers!"
It will be interesting to say the least. If Apple drops the iPhone 4G bombshell there be prepared to see something special from HTC. My guess a working Scorpion.
