Apple's WWDC kicks off on June 7th this year
Sure, you might hear the words "Worldwide Developers Conference" and start to yawn, but in Apple parlance we're looking at a likely announcement of a new iPhone (the 3GS was shown at last year's event) and maybe a sneak peak at a new version of OS X. Whatever else Apple might have in store for all of us is anyone's guess, but suffice it to say that we expect to be bringing you the meat from the opening keynote just like always, though specifics on that keynote have yet to be announced. PR is after the break, full of non-revelatory software development topics that will be covered at the conference.
Apple Worldwide Developers Conference Kicks Off June 7 in San Francisco

Poop Ron Burgundy, poop mouth...*cry*
Steve should let Gray Powell do the announcement.
Gray, Jason and others will be tortured on stage.
This is going to be interesting. What the fuck are people going to WOW at?
@FrankDTank For this years performance, Steve will be carrying his balls out in a wheelbarrow, South Park style.
I wish I could go into a comma and only awake when Ivan get in line for the new iPhone.
My wallet is gonna be anerexic
I wonder if Steve will have magical fairies and unicorns on stage to talk about all this magic in Apple devices.
It's a bit early this year ain't it? Can't wait to see what they got in store.
How sweet. And I'm upgrade eligible June 1st. Perfect timing.
I am betting the new iPhone will hit stores "late June" i.e. July 2nd.
No IT track at all this year. I am Very disappointed to see this development. Hope they dont completely ignore the IT side of the street in future events but it looks like iPhone OS is going to be king for a long time and OS X server and desktop not so much...
Also there are no desktop design awards this year, very sad to see. This adds to my disappointment over the direction Apple has taken WWDC. I would be much happier to see a WWDC - iPhone OS and a WWDC - OS X. Who knows maybe there is hope.
My bday the 7th of june what a treat!
@MoonWalkerCTE
mine too, turning 25
Did they really have to put magical in the press release. It's a bit over done now, it's not like the brand name.
@Cy Starkman
What's over done is people bringing up this 'magical' thing in every damn Apple post
@suicidebob magic can always be rehashed.
I NEED NEW IPHONE PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE
I promise I'm not trolling, but I hope this gets Spint and HTC to release the EVO 4G earlier than the rumored date of June 6th or 13th.
@JoshUng
Just what I was thinking. I couldn't imagine them releasing it later than June 6 now, but if they decide on that day, they might lose their chance to score some people who might wait ONE DAY to see what Apple has in store. VZ iphone might keep people from jumping to Sprint even for Evo 4G. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting the Evo, so partly I'm hoping for Sprint to release it in May (please) to beat the iphone fever so I can get it sooner!
I WAS looking forward to Apple announcing their next gen iPhone in June, HOWEVER, now that the Nokia N8 is official - the iPhone just MAY have to take a backseat....!!
Now that I know the date, I'm already scheming about when I should put my 3GS on eBay. Hopefully I'll get enough to cover the $400 I'll need to upgrade. I had my 3GS replaced for the second time last week due to a crack next to the mute switch.
why is everyone so excited about this? of course we know they will announce the iphone 4g at the wwdc. its not a shocker. its been the same trend for the last three years.
@deepen03
So take a moment to think about the device that you like (Blackberry, Android, Palm, etc) and if you heard word that another device was coming out, wouldn't you be a bit excited?
With Apple, the only plus is knowing that around June/July is when all the rumors are put to rest and the truth is finally revealed.
If you're not excited about any device, why are you here? This is ENGADGET!!!
@Plazmic Flame I know man I am excited, I am an iPhone 3G owner, but we all know a new iPhone comes out every June, there is no need for people to keep wondering if its coming out or not.
@deepen03
The Superbowl happens the same time each year - should we not talk about it until the morning of the event?
@deepen03 why did you even bother posting about it?
Steve should bring Gray & Jason out on stage like they did William Wallace and go Braveheart style on them. FREEDOMMMM!!!!
boneriffic
Gray powell will host,then apple will do a public execution
I, for one, would love to see Steve, Scott Forstall and Bertrand Serlet up there sweating over this. Well, that or even stewing.
Someone's gotta say it: I want to see their smooth armor crack.
I really want the iPhone 4!
I just dropped my 3g yesterday, - the curved back proved to be too slippery to grab onto when it's on the verge of falling!!- so it has a massive crack across the faceplate. (works fine still).
the new iPhone is on my list after a wacom graphics tablet and Photoshop CS5!
Now. Money.
=/
Predicted words to be used: Magical, revolutionary, lost and found, bar, you're fired.
@John22s lol so true. Especially the revolutionary or magical.
Is there a pool going on to take bets on Apple closing off more of their operating systems? Oh wait, I mean adding the value of protecting consumers from the ability of making a choice to buy or not buy an application.
NOBODY CARES!
I tell you apple is going to drop OSX and laptops/desktops - the fight they lost - and become a mobile device maker in a war they can win
@ajwoodhouse I WANT TO HEAR HOW MANY IPAD RETURNS THERE WERE. I KNOW AT TWO BEST BUYS THEY SAID ABOUT 20 EACH AND THE SAME FOR A APPLE STORE.
Snooze.
Evo ftw!
WWDC = World Wide Dictators Conference?
Can not wait to see everything Apple
