Amazon just announced a 2.5 software update for its Kindle and Kindle DX readers. At the moment, it's rolling out the update to a "limited group" of Kindle users with a general release coming at the end of May. Enhancements include the ability to organize books and documents into "collections," pan and zoom within PDFs, Kindle password protection, larger and sharper fonts, and just what you've always wanted: the ability to "share book passages with friends on Facebook and Twitter." facebook / twitter on en eReader..? that's just dumb... when i read books, i don't want to be reminded of all the Web 2.0 crap.
The PDF pan and zoom basically solves the biggest problem I've had with kindle. This is great for me as reading PDF is a big reason for wanting a kindle in a first place.
Sure would be nice to get an update for V1 Kindles too. Sure didn't pay to be an early user.
and the 3g is free.
The menu system is the worst thing about the kindle and I was hoping that they would do a complete overhaul of it. sigh. BUT, I'll take the PDF zoom for sure!
