Slightly unfair, Eldar has been a bit of a tool but he has some valid points to make. I think his comments on the N8 have been taken out of context and given too much emphasis considering his known hate of Symbian^1 though.
@MarkAnderson, it has nothing to do with his 'preview' of the N8... He's been reporting bullshit for years - remember, that was the same guy that said that the iPhone have no chance on the market (the period when he was a Nokia fanboy), and that the N900 basically sucks (also based on an early prototype he got ahold of somehow), and such... Lately his almost open hate towards his former employer - Nokia - just rendered off any objectivity he might have had... Frankly, I wouldn't trust him if he'd say the milk is white without checking up first...
@MarkAnderson I don't buy Eldar's explanations about the points he was trying to make: he could have made those without mentioning N8 at all. He brought N8 into his comments as a publicity stunt, he wanted to be the one to leak it. That's the context.
I agree - that's where he's been a tool. However over the years he's given me some good insights too. It's just lately he's kind of lost the plot a bit.
@MarkAnderson Eldar's opinions seems to go correlate with the marketing money the manufacturers pour into the Russian markets. When the market began to grow, Nokia was among the first their with massive marketing, after the market matured, Nokia has pulled back their operations in Russia while Samsung had big contributions last year, I think they even managed to conquer the largest market share for one quarter. Coincidently, Eldar's tune changed.
@thejan2009 Eldar said the Google Phone was a flat-out lie invented by a manufacturer with no connection to HTC or Google. He's not exactly infallible.
The new FiOS HD DVR, arguably the biggest update since Verizon released a DVR, thanks to its external storage support, enhanced multi-room functionality and slick new 16x9 HD user interface.
