Aigo's surprisingly sexy 7-inch N700 tablet packs Android 2.1 and Tegra 2
Go 'head Aigo! Get down with your bad self. Quite frankly, we never anticipated Aigo / Patriot to come through with a me-too tablet that actually made us take a second glance, but darn if this one isn't quite the looker. And that's before you've even had a moment to digest the specifications sheet. According to new details surfacing in China, this 7-inch machine will hum along on a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and feature NVIDIA's Tegra 2 graphics chipset. There's also 512MB of DDR2 memory, an 800 x 480 pixel multitouch display, 4/16/32GB of inbuilt storage, a USB socket, microSD slot, HDMI output, inbuilt WiFi, optional 3G WWAN, audio in / out and a 3,120mAh battery. Android 2.1 will be the OS of choice, but crucial details surrounding price and availability are sorely missing. Call us crazy, but we'll actually be keeping an eye out for specifics on both.
Update: Well, what do you know? Seems as if this here device may in fact be a Compal NAZ-10 in disguise, and if this YouTube video is to be believed, it'll boast 16 hours of HD video playback on a single charge and a $300 price tag. Can you say "tempting?" Thanks, Alain!

is it really that expensive to make 1280x720 or 1366x766 or something that we can play mobile HD
I REALLY hate it too see all those tablets we just cant buy! Whats wrong with that? Its starting to sadden me......
@Frasier
Me too. Now that HP has WebOS and have killed the slate, I hope they come to the party with a killer tablet we can actually, you know, BUY.
Tablets are still useless devices... The netbook saga all over again.
courier wasnt useful, but microsoft killed it :/

No GPS?? Would be nice to slap CoPilot Live on this here fine piece or arse..
The resolution is too low.
Maybe this will be the Pocket Protector Patrol's savior?
That bezel reminds me of the TV I used to watch Leave it To Beaver on when I was a kid
No price or date.. REALLY??!! I'm shocked.
The news has been updated on ChiniTech with a video,. Indeed Aigo N700 and Taiwanese compal NAZ10 are the same Tablet. So according to the video it can play 16hours of HD video in one charge, and cost under $300. Besides, the processor is a dual-core 1ghz, so the stamina is pretty impressive.
if this actually comes to stores and gets decent reviews, ill be looking for it
Ironically, I have a somewhat recent (3 years) Compal laptop. Never heard of them before, but got a deal on it just 6 months ago.
15 inch screen, dual core, decent graphics. Light, not overly sexy but I can say this: Solid. The thing is just as good as any laptop I have ever used, and seems to just run solid and longer times then most laptops I have used. Since I only gave 50 bucks for it a garage sale, I have been extremely pleased with it.
So from my point of view, when I see something from a no-name like Compal that may have people scratching their heads, I look at it and want to get my hands on it and play with it.
Gigantic bezel is gigantic.
Here's a vid of the ten inch version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2QAZUUYD2Y
I'm sad that a lot of tablets seem to be sticking to iPad specs now and just adding a couple things that make sense. They need to blow that 10 year old garbage out of the water.
@sublimeandetc When a "10 year old" device can surf the web faster than Core i5 laptops of today (on the same wifi network), there must be something Apple did right.
Not too sure about this device.
According to the Japanese to English translation, it says "Android 2.1 strains operation ability" . Not sure I like the sound of this.
(BTW, yes I know the original site is in Chinese).
Too bad this device will never ever be on sale.
so when/where can i buy one?
it is so awesome when it comes out I might buy it.
