BlackBerry Bold 9650 granted FCC approval
What does RIM need to meet its May launch window for the Bold 9650? Well, a few things, actually: carrier approval, sufficient manufacturing capacity and launch stock, and -- oh yeah -- FCC certification. We can't speak to the first two, really, but we've now got confirmation that the third item is squared away now that the 9650's documents have flown into the FCC's filing system. There's not much to see here besides confirmation that it'll support EV-DO Rev. A and 850 / 1900MHz EDGE (although you'll never be using it stateside) , but at least you can rest a little easier tonight knowing that the feds won't be trying to stop RIM from turning this thing into reality later this month.

Oh God - I got scared when I saw the picture, and thought it was another Apple patent, allowing them to sue Blackberry. Thank goodness it isnt.
CURSE YOU STEVE JOBS
@SamTatr
Ha ha... Stevophobe!
@who said what omg it's ... another blackberry that looks like all the other blackberry's
@SamTatr
Well if you look at the touch pad there appears to be a mini ipod located there, so there will probably be a suit coming up soon.
@SamTatr
Well, if you look really carefully at the center of the track pad, it does sort of look like an old iPod mini...
Cover it quickly, before Steve Sues again!
@SamTatr
iPhone killer!
@werty1432k
That's humerus considering most people can't spot the difference between 3 generations of iPhone's. Look at a BlackBerry 3 generations ago... I think you can tell the difference.
@TonyMontana2367 And proud
@werty1432k just wanted to ask if I'm the only one who doesn't distinguish them at all.. :|
@SamTatr
Look closely at the touch pad... it looks like its being powered by a small iPOD. xD
The trackpad hole kind of looks like a little iPod.
@Adisah
omfg
@Adisah
It's like the xFiles thriller story - I Want To Believe!
@Adisah
Are you Dan Brown or what?
@Adisah That my friends is its heart.
Someone should have granted it a shotgun in the face.
More app memory RIM or GTFO
@Plazmic Flame this one has 512mb over the 9700's 256mb
Yay!
"Santen Kesshun!...I reject!"
Wow, yet another unexciting device from RIM.
Yup, and that's why I switched over to Android. Same old same old for Rim.
@lembowski The need the make that screen bigger, at the very least.
Damned, RIM is falling off, only one new Blackberry and its already May 3rd!
Once you go Blackberry, the time it'll take to go back may vary...
so wait spec wise the 9650> 9700??
so its 9000
@marsdta
for some reason the rest of my post didnt show... but so its 9650 then 9700 then 9000 in descending order? granted the last two are gsm but still the name scheme of newer products should follow some kind of logic
@marsdta
RIM? Logic? lol....
Logic went out the window a couple years ago...
@cherryboom
Actually, the first of 2010.....
I'll take this phone over the icrap phone and the droid robot phone
kinda ironic that the "touchpads" internals looks like an iPod Video
Why can't RIM make a phone with a qwerty keyboard, with gps, a good camera, and wifi! The tour doesn't have wifi I dont think?
@Hydra
I believe from here on out all BB's will have wifi built in...So I think RIM has fulfilled all of your needs/wants, right?
@Hydra no, the tour does not have wifi, but this phone has all of the stuff you mentioned. So does the the bold 9700, and to a lesser extent the 8900, 8530, and 8520.
yawn
Another clone of a clone of a clone. RIM has no talent.
@anotherworld
True to an extent. But until other mobile OS's get the messaging/email capabilities to where RIM has them, I doubt they'll be too scared--companies love BB's for professional devices.
what is this?...irobot,how many more of the same thing will they make? Damn!
Wow, finally a new handset design from RIM! :)
Oh wait...
Is that a iPod on the middle nav button lol
Is anyone actually going to buy this thing?
Wow, the optical trackpad looks like an mini ipod. HaHa.
Umm...Anyone notice this:

Notice they only mention 3 factors, but list 4 at first....
