Wooden Level Eleven PC gets inspiration from Thermaltake Level 10 chassis
Let's face it -- if you had a never-ending stack of cash and a computer room with no particular size constraints, you too would own a Thermaltake Level 10 enclosure. Regrettably, both financial and square footage constraints do indeed play major roles in most of our lives, including one Jeffrey Stephenson. This fine gentleman is quickly becoming the Ben Heck of wood-grained mods, this time cranking out a lovingly crafted iteration of the aforesaid chassis, but with that special wooden flair. The Level Eleven gets its inspiration from the gargantuan Level 10, but rather than taking things even bigger, Jeff decided to scale things down a notch; in fact, he constructed a fully functional PC within the handmade enclosure, all based around a VIA Pico-ITX mainboard and a 1.2GHz VIA Nano CPU. Thanks to the onboard VX855 media processor, this (comparatively) diminutive machine boasts an HDMI output and enough horsepower to pump out 1080p sans lag -- but it doesn't seem as if this bad boy is officially for sale. Not that he'd reject a five-figure offer or anything...

This is AWESOME. But slow...
@Atkins
This is awesome, but fail!
@Atkins Imagine putting the new Apple hardware to this thing, it will become fire.
@Atkins Awesome?
With the right combination of hardware, that thing is soon to catch on fire.
@dreamerkm
It does not need to catch fire, if it was designed FORM follows FUNCTION. But it is the total opposite. The aluminium blocks should be the passive cooling grills for the CPU and GPU, where the wood should contain all not so hot stuff. Here it seems the complete opposite. That is a real pity.
@SiXiam well you can always partner this one with that wooden macbook.. lol. http://j.mp/macbook-ipad-wood
This is AWESOME. But slow...

This is awesome, but fail!
i would totally buy this case the moment it goes for sale.
Wow, that is *nice*
wodlicious
woodlicious
Thermaltake? I dunno, the first thing that came to my mind was "Playstation 2".
interesting but I would have made the foot flush with the right side (front on perspective) so that it could be laid flat it needed
also no mention of infra red remote
That. Is. Gorgeous.
Wow!
So small and creative.
Looks really nice. I wish ThermalTake would do a "Level 5" - a smaller, cheaper version of the Level 10 for us mere mortals.
Awesome!!!
Price ? $999
"Let's face it -- if you had a never-ending stack of cash and a computer room with no particular size constraints, you too would own a Thermaltake Level 10 enclosure."
I'd rather have an Corsair 800D. I don't at all see all the hype behind that case. It's really quite limited in what you can do with it.
@Prevacator It's also uglier than sin.
Awesome!!!
Price ? $999
Thats epic... way to put a spin on the original :P
Thats epic... way to put a spin on the original :P
awesome design!
wizardry.
beautifully designed...
Though shame it only hold a mini-ITX board... and he didnt even put a badass one in there :P. Though still damn badass.
@TehSilentWolf If he put a bad ass one in, it would set on fire
I love the look, but wouldn't wood defeat the purpose on a computer case?
@Slygathor
Why?
Wood has been used for decades to house electronics. Ever see those vintage valve radios or old tube TV sets in wooden cabinets? Don't tell me that they don't get as hot as a computer.
Get the right fans working in the right places, and the cool air goes in the bottom, and comes out the top. Could be done in aluminium or perspex, but then you don't get quite the same look.
reminds me of a PS2
Wow, lots of dupe comments today
Wow, lots of dupe comm - I'm here from the future, Engadget has an edit button. It's.. beautiful.
@Oli D
Wow really? I can't seem to find it.
EDIT: Never mind I found it.
If that had mac pro innards it'd be beast. Although it might burst into flames from all the awsomness
wow that is pure class. It would look beautiful with teak panels.
Looks nice until you realize how small it is.
@Alex
That's what she...?
I beg to differ
1- if I had money, I'd spend it on hiding my PC somewhere out of sight
2- that chassis is ugly, too in-you-face. Might be OK in a moutain lodge, that's it
3- designed without any regard for actual practicality: there's so many dust harbours on the thing, count at least 2x15 mins per week to keep it pristine. I have better things to do.
To me, that thing is a bad case, for pretentious idiots in search of a personality and approval.
I like the "artsy" look of it. Install Ubuntu 10.4 on it and you got really fast, functioning computer... perfect for the more eclectic among us.
this makes me think I should wood veneer my media center case... for that 1980's look...lol
mmmm beautiful design
sick.
"This one goes to eleven"
