Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"As someone who doesn't reside in the USA, I was wondering what would be the best way to get internet for my computer in the US for a couple of weeks? If it were Europe I know I'd look for some prepaid data. Is there anything similar offered by American carriers? A MiFi or a data SIM that I can tether from would work, but I'm trying to maintain a tight budget. Help!"
not impressed
@buzski I'm really not impressed, either. Flash really isn't a big deal.
@s2m0 it is when you think of all the amazing free games and web experiences you are missing out on without it...
@buzski
Just think of it this way. When Android gets flash, the day it does, it will have more games then the app store.
And EVERYONE is impressed with the app store.
Hows THAT?
@buzski
I'm not impressed either...how about you get a 3rd party manufacturer to do this Adobe.
Why should anyone expect any different from the makers of Flash?
Bottom line is that you know your product is shit when you have to work so hard JUST to get it to run decently...
@TheRogueFFAngel um... companies always work hard to get their products to work, not to mention it works flawlessly on stable OS'... just apparently not on second tier operating systems like OSx... i mean Flash is amazing and AIR will make the app store a moot point
@Kamil R I don't understand your comparison to the app store, has nothing to do with my comment. It's just taken a while in order for flash to come to fruition on a tablet, hence me not being impressed considering the time it's taken.
@buzski well your comment isnt important anymore as its been downranked into oblivion... so the rest of thus started up a new thread beneath your failing
@Kamil R Whats everyones fascination with shitty flash games. Just because there are a million out there doesn't mean they are good. At least with the App store your getting games developed for the UI and not run behind some shit program that drains the he'll out of your battery.
By the size of that tablet it tells me they had to have some beefy hardware to run it.
@jsbaugh doesnt the app store have like 100 fart apps? and there are a lot of amazing flash games on the internet for free, our fascination is on free high quality games; some flash games are in fact crap but same goes for the iFart Store
@jsbaugh In the same way that there are some pretty sweet games on the App Store, there are some really nicely done games that run on Flash. You have to be really narrow-minded to believe otherwise. Try 3D Logic 2, an awesome 3D puzzle game:

@saposmak not to mention that the majority of iPhone games i personally had on my iPhone were just dumbed down versions of amazing flash games; PVZ?
@Kamil R
yes, and 90% of those games will be virtually unplayable on any android phone because they are made for mouse interaction and do not respond well with touch-based input or make use of other cellphone hardware features...
Have fun with those games.
@SteveyAyo 100 out of 200,000. Won't most flash apps need to be rewritten for touch OS given the lack of mouseover etc. That would suggest that there will be no giant stock of flash games for non-iPhone OSs even if flash does work well.
@capnbob66 200,000 apps on the app store and about 100 worth having... not to mention most of those 100 are wildly overpriced. I do believe that rewriting flash apps is relatively easy to do and wouldnt be difficult to implement for touchscreens... i guess well find out soon sir
@jellotime91 I wouldn't be surprised to see a mouse emulator app come about on this. Plus a large majority of android phones already have scroll wheels or optical pads. A mouse can easily be implemented.
@jellotime91 Most flash games work better with a touch screen than with a mouse. Most flash games are made for point and click stuff, much easier to play by just touching on a screen.
@SteveyAyo
Can't say I'm missing anything really. I've seen flash games and they are so lame I haven't bothered.
I Suppose if you are into whack a mole, farmville or jumping poorly scrolling obstacles on a clunky looking dirt bike then maybe you'd feel the pain.
As for the rest of the web, I have used a flash blocker for ages. Ahh the peace, I can actually use the web instead of waiting for some shitbag smiley face ad to load before the page content.
@SteveyAyo While there is crap in the App store, the best apps there are far better than the best Flash stuff you can find. Not to mention that you can use them Offline.
@SteveyAyo Your irrelevent opinion about what apps are worth having is somewhat negated by the 100M or so iOS users who will judge for themselves what they like. Your desperate anti-apple fanboi-ism is so pathetic. I just spent the afternoon in the Android Market and that made the App Store look like Macy's next to its convenience store content. Choked with UI tweaks, porn galleries, ringtones, soundboards and wallpaper. The paid apps were really pathetic. No wonder App developers can't make money from Android. Keep on berrating the App store while
the alternatives strangle themselves with tat and nerdware. Reality will keep happening whether you like it or not.
@Kamil R And how many of those games will work on your touchscreen device. Not many, what about games using keyboard controls, not going to work. Games using mouse hover, not going to work. So you are left with some puzzle games and thats about it.
If people use Flash to create games specifically for an Android phone, then yes they will work, but that won't happen right away. The main reason: they will not be able to make any money. The current Flash sites are free because of the crap ton of advertising they have on the page. On a small device you will barely see this advertising or have a chance to click on it so until a site finds a way to monetize it you will be playing flash games designed for a PC.
Flash will always be inferior to apps created specifically for the hardware simply by design. With native code you can push a device to its limits, whereas Flash and Actionscript will always have an overhead because they are running in a layer on top of the hardware.
