Adobe decries Apple's 'walled garden,' yet pledges 'best tools' for HTML5
Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch says Flash works just fine on the Apple iPhone, thank you very much -- and he thinks that's exactly why Apple keeps on denying it access. Speaking at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, he explained his belief that by eliminating Flash, Cupertino is forcing developers to build apps natively for iPhone OS rather than one of Adobe's cross-platform solutions, and thus creating a "walled garden" of applications that users must flock to an iDevice to be able to use. Lynch compared Apple's control over development formats to 19th century railroad lines that competed for customers by using differently sized rails, and pledged that Adobe would not be part of such a competition. "It's not HTML vs. Flash -- they've been co-existing for over a decade," he said, adding, "We're going to try and make the best tools in the world for HTML5." So, what do you think about that, Steve?

Lets be honest Apple did this to kill CS5 ,simple.
I think they and there followers are really sad.
@doomlordis LOL. What??
@Atkins
Apple want to hurt Adobe, that is obvious.
Apple are uninventive, leaching fucks who havent innovated for years, they are IP whores who exploite the western masses hunger to consume and actively try to put other companies out of business.
Read the Developers agreement they make you sign and tell me its ethical to put a clause in that says they can destroy your livelyhood be found guilty of doing it and you can only claim back a maximum of $50 compensation.

Why would Apple want to put Adobe out of business? They make money from them. Hell, the whole OSX is based on PDF.
About the western consumers, everybody does it, Adobe with Flash too.
1. yes, Apple is doing this for protecting their business. Do you have anything against it?
2. no, it is not against standard HTML5 from Adobe products - if your products will generate HTML5, they WILL work on iPhone.
3. if you want to cross platforms, use standards, which goes cross all platforms
The whole reason I love my iPhone is that it runs super smooth regardless of what I'm doing - I'm glad Apple/Steve don't put all these random features that everyone wants on the phone because it'll run like dog shit.
I'm even a little worried about how multitasking will affect performance on OS4. Please don't make my iPhone just like any of the other hundred "I-can-do-everything-(just about)" phones out there at the moment. Keep it walled and thus smooth.
I guess we'll find out after tools like Unity are kept off of holy ground. We can't have free agents playing for more than one platform... right, steve?
My ipod touch 2nd gen was laggy , especially when typing , has that been fixed?
YouTube offers its videos in HTML5 as well as flash. However the HTML5 experience is knee-deep in guano. But YT is owned by Google so they are unlikely to make HTML5 look better than flash, are they?
I would love it if Apple would just go away.
Hey Adobe if flash on iPhone really works, simply release into the wild so us jailbreakers can give it a whirl. You'll piss of apple and also proven them wrong (that it can work on the iPhone) and make millions of users happy !
@cherryboom
i suggest you go take a look at apples site, there awfully made, it just causes so much lag when the pictures change, and it looks awful
All the Adobe supporters suggesting that they adopt a scorched earth policy toward the Mac seem oblivious to a simple reality ... namely that Apple could launch a hostile takeover of Adobe--using just their petty cash--and the whole thing would be over by breakfast tomorrow.
There are only two downsides to that scenario ... firstly if Apple did buy, then kill, Flash, the antitrust folks really would have something to investigate, and secondly, it would deprive Jobs of the pleasure of watching Adobe die a slow, painful death.
im going to have to back flash on this one, wasnt ADOBE DENIED thier app from apple store, to me it looks like apple has gotten all crazy with thier ban hammer and only wants to lets thier friends into the club and kick everyone out.
