AT&T Palm Pre Plus and 3G MicroCell available nationwide on May 16 (update: not quite nationwide)

Our tipster also tells us that AT&T will be rolling out its 3G MicroCell from coast-to-coast on the same day. Makes sense since AT&T already gave us a mid-April date for its little signal boosting wonder.
[Thanks, D.]
Update: We just spoke to AT&T about this whole ordeal; they wouldn't confirm or deny the Pre Plus situation, but we were told that there's "no change" in the MicroCell plans -- May 16 won't be a nationwide rollout, and there will be more rollouts in the weeks after.

If the price is right there will be a box with my name on it.
WebOs is full of win.
@Waltah
On AT&T's Facebook page, one of the customer service reps said the Pre Plus is going to be $150 and the Pixi is going to be $50.
@will18057 Trying to find this, can you perhaps give a link to the comment? or some sort of way to find it.
@Waltah I think AT&T will limit what the Pre/Pixi and WebOS can do. Like the personal WiFi hotspot feature. Hopefully things won't turn out like what happened with the iPhone and it's MMS feature.
Please AT&T, don't strip WebOS of it's awesomeness!
YESSSSSSSSS! Freekin finally! WOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Bring on the AWESOMENESS!
@Waltah Yesss my iPhone needs a webos friend!
@will18057
Those were the prices months ago well before VZ dropped their prices. Not sure if they will adjust accordingly or not.
@TenaciousJ728
I wouldn't expect the Hot Spot to be there. It's not something AT&T has offered before. It's not loaded with junk though, so that's a plus. I'd love having the Hot Spot though!
@Waltah Whatever the price is, one box already have my Name on it :D
@cursive
The best I can do is http://www.facebook.com/#!/ATT and tell you to go to last week's comments...but since that page get's hundreds of posts and comments per day, going to last week's comments might take you a while... You can always get on that page and ask yourself. I'm sure a customer service rep will tell you, or one of the regulars that trolls AT&T's FB page.
@Waltah
No, those prices they gave were LAST WEEK. Several incensed "customers" on that page bitched and moaned about how AT&T was gonna sell the Pre at a new phone's price when its competitors are practically giving away their Palm...erm, HP phones.
32GB Please
@Luxury Guy What, no hope for 64?
@Teslanaut I'm just not expecting miracles since Palm has been stuck at 16GB since the inception of the Pre.
@Luxury Guy
actually original pre was 8 gb, the verizon plus version that came out late jan. was the first 16gb.
Free microcell for all att!!! Otherwise I flee very soon!!!
@Mareshalu
Sprint's your man. Their coverage, customer service, and prices are actually really really good!
It'd be nice to see this phone finally sell well. I've been on it since the beginning. It truly is an amazing os.
hope AT&T loves sprint sloppy thirds
@ajac09
That would be Verizon's sloppy 2nds. Plus has bumped specs over the original Pre. But yes, AT&T is late to the table.
So, by this analogy, Palm should've been more of a whore when the Pre first launched?
@Smart People Play Tuba
oh palm are whores they took a fat check from sprint first and then worked their way up dirty dirty girl
Sad they have to practically give the phone away to get any market share. It's a company thy has a bad phone and limited partner base.
I really wonder what apple thinks of this
or you can just use the same method to get it on the Sprint Pre. Knowing AT&T they will just charge you.

Oh man. If this does work on the AT&T pre plus (and why wouldn't it) I may have to give my iPhone 3G the boot.
But the new iPhone in June looks so good too...decisions decisions...
Hurray!!
I am so done with iPhoneOS bull, and now that i know Palm is going to be around next year, I am ready to throw the iPhone away jump on the Pre Plus!!
@DanJ01 I agree with you there. My poor iPhone 3g can barely handle 3.0 I sure don't want to torture it by installing 4.0. Palm pre plus here I come.
@Frozenps3guy Bye guys, 20 more where you came from...
@Frozenps3guy
me too, been waiting on this phone for a while now. Can't wait to dump the iPhone
Will it replace my 3GS? Perhaps.
Anyone know what the current gmail integration is like on WebOS? I remember Nilay saying it was bad, but that was a while ago. If gmail works good then count me in for one.
@davetannenbaum
I'd say gmail integration is about as good as it is on the iPhone/iPod touch. It isn't threaded, but it's useable. I never had a problem out of it, minus once when I was sending a serious amount of reply emails to someone I was working out a deal with for a new iPod touch. For some reason it quit letting me reply after about 70 emails or so.
@davetannenbaum
It is VERY usable. There are a few things I would like to see improved (like mass delete and native landscape view) but "bad" isn't an adjective I would ever have used when it came to email on the Pre.
"Our tipster's main impression: it's fast. The device is running webOS 1.4.2, which could account for some speed improvement. While it's likely that part of the speed improvement is due to there not being much on the device, our source says that it definitely seems faster than even the Verizon Palm Pre Plus. Also better: the keyboard, we're told the keys are super responsive. Build quality also seems better, with the slider feeling much smoother than the original Pre. We're definitely eager to see if both impressions pan out on a production device after a couple of months of use."
-Precentral.net
excited to see what is in 1.4.2 and the improved keyboard.
Why would anyone get this? The keyboard sucks so much ass.
I have a palm pre with sprint and i hate it!!! the stupid phone when i slide the keyboard the screen goes black for about 3 minutes!! what happens if i have an emergency and i need to make a phone call right away? i'm screwed!! lol and the camera app and music app are VERY slow. If you want to take a picture right away you can't because the app takes time to load. If you take a picture and go back to see it and after you done seeing it you go back to to take another one it takes its time to load also. The music app when you are browsing through artists or songs it freezes sometimes. I don't know if the palm pre plus from verizon does the same thing but its annoying. the phone has 4GB free of memory and i don't use applications too much so i don't know why it's happening. I'm waiting for the evo so i can replace it or the new blackberry :)
@liljoepr what?
@liljoepr
The problem you're having with the screen going black when you slide it is due to a loose battery cage. You can either jam a piece of paper between the battery and the top of the cage as a stopgap measure, or get in contact with Sprint and bitch your way into a replacement phone.
I'd have to agree with you about the new slowness of the camera app opening, mostly due to the new way apps open since WebOS 1.4. was released. Not much you can do there unless you want to roll back to 1.3.5. and lose video recording capabilities, along with other updated features.
If you really feel as though a Blackberry would suit your needs, go for it. Personally, RIM's OS feels Stone Age old, and I wouldn't hand in my Pre for any other phone currently on the market, but to each his own and all that jazz.
@liljoepr
Oh, and to make that emergency call.....your phone is a touchscreen. You don't need to slide it open to dial;)
@liljoepr hmm, my camera app just opened in less than 2 seconds at 500mhz.... Wonder how fast it would at 800mhz overclocked..... Troll.
The MicroCell is a worthless piece of sh*t.
Just as many dropped calls since installing it. I do, however, have the nice 5-bar graphic now. Fantastic. $150 to make my phone lie about how much service I have.
@iamjared
It's the phone, not the signal dropping your calls. Some phones are just crap and do that.
Wonder how bad ATT will screw up the pre, with all of their software. If I were you guys I would wait before buying.
@Hydra
There's really not anything extra on it beyond what most carriers would put on their devices. AT&T Navigator is there of course (with a fast gps lock). Even if you can't remove something you don't want you can just drag it to the bottom of the last page and never see it.
Ok, T-Mobile next? Glad to see the Pre & Pixi Plus make it to AT&T. I wonder how well it will multitask on GSM. I am on my original Pre for Sprint 6/7/09 and it still looks and works like new. However , it has never been dropped. Now that we have seen Palm roll out to a lot of networks, lets hope for new hardware in the mext month or so. I would there really will not be an exclusive this time around. You carry the Palm brand, you get their next gen device. Palm cannot afford to mess a new release up. I love the WebOS, I really would like to have a killer WebOS phone that's in par with the EVO w\landscape keyboard (C40?). HP said that they were not going to change Palms upcoming product line, hope it looks god. WebOS FTW!!!
They took so long that now I'm waiting one more month for the WWDC. I can't purchase a Palm Pre Plus with the new iPhone being announced. I have to wait.
What about the Pixi Plus?
@ToniCipriani
It's coming too. It might have a blue TouchStone back. Well, I've seen it with a blue Touchstone back.
no point in buying a pre for at&t when sprint is getting new hardware in august..
