Thanko's Bracelet Battery is back, better and geekier than ever
If 2007's Bracelet Battery from Thanko didn't match your lifestyle, there's a good chance 2010's model won't either. That's because it looks identical to the prior model, sporting the kind of style that would go perfectly with a Caped Crusader costume and virtually nothing else. New with this year's model is an adapter cable that enables it to work with an even greater variety of devices, a 1,500mAh lithium-ion battery, and (wonder of wonders) an on/off switch. Yours for just ¥3,980 -- about $40.

Pass!
@Peacock
And when the batteries catch fire... dial 911 with that phone...
@who said what I meant no need to keep one for me. May be my english is too horribly bad to understand. *sigh*
@Peacock
No, you're just a victim of comment hijacking.
@Peacock
No Thanks
@Peacock
Thanko, but no, Thanko.
@Peacock Beautiful
@Trickymaster
I'm terry tibbs.
Oh my! What has this world gone to?
@btdt
R4 chips, apparently. ;)
Anyone know if they drain the DS battery faster than legitimate cartridges?
Mother's Day is right around the corner . . .
Giving your mom this might be the one thing that makes her disown you.
@Smart People Play Tuba Maybe you could wire it up to the "Magic Hand' and have a great portable massager for mom!

:D
@sethmo
Dude. That's fuct up.
Yes... yes I do want to set my wrists on fire...
I've got a "kick me" sign that would go great with that
I wouldn't mind something like this if I could take it off when it actually charging something.
It's like one of those explosive collars, but for your wrist!
Anyone know the output voltage and current specs? I emailed thinkgeek and they don't know.
Looks like a parol ankle monitor to me.
Saddest part: it isn't water resistent
@poddo Couldn't one use a silicone spray to fix that?
@truthslayer I dunno, a job this delicate may require duck tape, and perhaps even a hammer.
thank(o)s but no thank(o)s. imagine i was caught with this at the airport,
1. it makes me look like a criminal; or
2. a suicide bomber
@thisisit
At least it goes with your avatar!
@who said what,
hey, i'm ugly i admit, but terrorist i'm not!
@who said what
Hey, everyone needs to be nice to her. Everyone is unique and the world wouldn't be what it is today without everyone being who they are.
I think this would actually look a whole lot less ridiculous if the model's forearm wasn't the approximate thickness of a #2 pencil.
I'd be interested in having one around if only for emergency spot-charging of my Cell or GPS.
@RITarded09 Screw that, I'd rather use the Solio solar charger I bought a year ago from Borders.
@aschettler
How are those? I'm tempted to pick one up but to be honest I'm not sure it'd get much sun hanging from my backpack :\
Quote from my non-geek wife; "That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I would not go withing 50' of you in public if you wore that thing. Why not just carry one of those battery backup things in your purse instead of wearing a ridiculous bracelet? Geeks are so geekish." End quote.
@SaggyBalls you got a purse?
@fast
It's a satchel.
@SaggyBalls and yet your wife calls it a purse.
@tasteskindasalty
She's emotionally abusive.
@SaggyBalls Of course she is abusive, she can spot a geek. That's the essential in a bully.
Moment that one turns up in a hip hop video...it will sell like hot cakes.
@fast
Or just have that guy with the iPad on a chain wearing one.
It doesn't get any cooler than that.
maybe create a bracelatte.
@jocantonio
srry a NECKLACE
...But what about people who actually put their phone in their pocket and can stand to be away from their phone for more than 2 seconds and dont drain the battery due to 24/7/365 of use. Ooh thats right, we dont need a StarWars type utility bracelet
This is the future of smartphones !
I had an idea of this in a belt when I was a kid. Belts are normal and can be formal looking. Belts are meant for carrying weight and in the past, when phones were smaller, you used to attach them to the belt. So it would be a perfect "charging" station that goes _sort of_ unnoticed.
Looks like Spiderman's webshooter to me...

for about the same price, 2.3x the power capacity, and you can keep it in a backpack/pouch.
If it was able to take in thermal energy from my wrists to charge the battery, that would be epic.
At first I thought this was a new device carriers were using to lock people into long-term contracts.
I could see that if I'm trying to pack light for PAX or something and need to make sure I have some extra juice for my Zune, phone, or DS. :D Then again, I'd probably be wearing a backpack and could use one of the normal battery packs.
LOL! Thanko's Bracelet Battery is a stunning example of the 'cure' being worse than the illness.
