@iPaul Luckily, no one thinks you have to jailbreak it just to "get some use out of it".
Apple didn't have to make a so called "cheap" netbook. Cheap is anywhere from $250-$350. Once you start creeping into the $400-$600 range, the "cheapness" factor is gone. It's sounds more like a "cheap" "laptop" not netbook.Hell, they even had the white Macbook on sale for $720 no too long ago. I think Apple is more than capable of making a $500-$600 laptop that is not a Macbook Air. Bring back the black Macbook, take out the optical drive, 4GB Ram,OSX and give it a few more USB ports, Mini Displayport...charge $500 $600 for 3Gor 4G-there's your Apple netbook.
@Tubalcain That would mean entering a market in which they aren't interested at all.
do people play doom with a mouse? i seem to recall theress no free movement of the gun as it auto aims up and down so i always thought most people used just a keyboard... maybe its different on the ipad. Anyways the way i see the ipad is that its great it came out and really shown there is a market for that kindof device. Id really like to own the hp hurricane myself when it comes out and while i would never buy an ipad for various reasons, i think it and the netbook can coexist if the netbook can get a little speedier, probably with an ion 2 and a dual core chip. Seeing as the netbook is a real computer that can do most of your computing things or writing documents or pretty much anything you could want , while the tablet can give you task oriented applications and can perform them well.
@Tibbles I would also agree that netbooks and ipads are pretty different and will hardly affect each other for the time being. Although I am not sure about the Hurricane - I think it could be a great device, but frankly I don't see it happening - HP wasn't the right company here. Also, Apple just created a market and it's a niche market like the netbooks, but there is only one device selling there - the iPad. The only competition there would be better and cheaper than the iPad devices or just simply cheaper once. Not much space between the iPad and the Android devices.
Utterly pointless, defeats the whole purpose of a touchscreen portable tablet! If u want a setup like that then use your desktop or laptop.
Sometimes I wonder whether people can do it to feed the trolls on here, so they can say 'shouldve been included in the box'
@sl86 the first indication of success is enviousness and hate, just take a look at sports you'll find the same similarity there (soccer, football, baseball etc). :)
@shizzledmg you make a very good point, and Apple indeed made a hit for the general mass consumer market, but for a decently-sized minority of us tech-savvy Apple fans that wanted something more, it was a considerably heavy disappointment.
Love how all the haters clamour to deride the iPad at every turn.
Just keep doing that while it outsells every other tablet 10:1.
Sad fools.
This is cool until you realize you have a 9.7 inch touch screen in front of you
@jeff181995 : And your cat can't play air hockey against you with a mouse, can it? :)
Hackers turn a giant ipod into an almost laptop! amazing! ohh wait
or you could just not buy this waste of a product and get a laptop instead right? lol cool, but it kills the purpose of an iPad.(aka giant iPod touch)..
only idiots would buy an iCrap
This is perfect for people with zero self-awareness.
@obvioustrollobviouslytrolling I dont see how? Apple markets and sells to dumb people, thats common knowledge with their ads. Normal PC's are too complicated for you to figure out? Try a single button apple product!!!!!
@Darkroom I use my magic mouse all the time and only have to change the batteries every 1 - ... months!
"If your end-user has to hack your device just to use it as a computer, you blew it..."
I'm the only one here that think that's a great addition to ipad, and adds a lot of value to it ? Apple will ***never say never*** add it officially, but that great for me, touch + mouse, you now can have both!
Ya we all need a cumbersome to carry junky overpriced non multitasking web crimped laptop!
i really prefer, touch screen. if i wanted a mouse and keyboard i would have never bought a ipad
I wonder if this BTStack will allow the ipad wifi to work with external BT GPS receivers? Heck I wish the iPhone 3GS woudl with with it . I got much better tracking with my old GPS receiver then this phone.
iPad can do anything
This is like someone hooking up a pair of horses to their new Model T Ford and transforming it into a horse drawn carriage.
Some people just can't let go of the good old days.
Man is someone can come up with a cool netbook-like shell for the iPad (integrated keyboard and touchpad) then this would be a great(er) device. I have forever been looking for a way to reduce my tech carrying clutter... Laptop in the bag, phone on my hip, MP3 player in my pocket and desktop at home, iPhone solved a bunch of these issues, and throwing away my desktop for a MBP took care of more... But I would love to be able to use this on the go with a keyboard and touchpad from time to time... for long emails and such, but then be able to detach the iPad for touch input use when I want. I think I saw an IBM device that had a similar function a while back on engadget.
