@Goaliegeek Not really unfortunately. The 9600M GT is such a minor update over the 8600M GT. I have one in my laptop, its alright but pretty outdated these days.
@Kleptomaniac waaaaaaaa. no way. lame. Well I can play source games on high settings in bootcamp, and if the stories are true that the Mac versions are running better because of OpenGL, then it should be all good. Too bad not all games can be easily moved over to the Mac. Would like to play Guild Wars with my friend without having to reboot.
@Goaliegeek Ah yeah source games are fine! Just anything else is low to medium. I'm pretty sure it said the games don't run aswell because of apple's drivers not being up to par with Nvidia's?
@Kleptomaniac Yea, that's what some devs I guess are having issues with. 10.6.4 is supposed to include better graphic drivers, so hopefully we see a performance boost in 10.6.4, which hopefully also comes out soon.
@Goaliegeek If you read the article, the games run *worse* on OpenGL compared to DirectX. "Source Engine performance on Mac wasn't quite as good as on Windows in tests using the exact same hardware (thanks, Boot Camp), but admirably comes close nonetheless;"
And yeah. 9600GT isn't a great card anymore, and the mobile version is worse.
