Vertu Ascent 2010: same pretension, new specs
Vertu's not big on press releases, so you'll have to forgive us for missing this a few weeks back -- but it seems that Nokia's little outpost of opulent, over-the-top luxury has just released an updated version of its time-tested Ascent range. The so-called Ascent 2010 features a 5 megapixel camera (up from the Ascent Ti's 3), 8GB or 32GB of on-board storage depending on the version (up from 4GB), and quadband 3G. It also has AGPS with preloaded maps (Vertu's carefully avoiding the plebeian Ovi Maps branding here, but we'd imagine it's more or less the same thing), a 2-inch QVGA sapphire crystal display, and a sweet chronograph display (pictured) that undoubtedly makes the phone worth every one of the thousands of dollars you shell out for it. You can pick it up now in your choice of aluminum or titanium bodies with a variety of colored leather accents from luxury retailers around the globe -- and don't forget to pack your checkbook before you hop in the Roller and head down there, obviously.

Who buys theese crap phones???
@crazyrkr11
People with money.
@crazyrkr11 People with money.
@2ripp3dup Freakin' Ridiculous
@crazyrkr11
Why? Is it more ludicrous than an expensive watch?
I like that keypad...looks crazy to use lol
For a fraction of the price you can get a top of the line smartphone, like the Evo. But I guess it's just a status symbol.
@ChechenTDG
Correct, like you can get a fully functional timex for a fraction of the cost of a IWC chronograph.
@JFH How can you compare an IWC to a Timex?
I dont care if in its simplistic form they both "tell time".
IWC is much more than just a status symbol... an IWC says you appreciate fine hand crafted piece of art. An appreciation for all that goes into the hundreds of years it took for man to capture time.
I think you should be shot for comparing the two. My wrist aches just thinking of it.
That said... this phone is utterly disgusting. Iffen you do want to spend a lot of money on a phone thats also a status symbol, why not look into the Tag? At least its purty.
If you cant handle luxury, don't waste your time commenting on this beautiful piece of hardware. Go to Vertu and check out everything related to this phone. I ain't geek's phone but bump in specs sure says it is a phone for a millionaire geek's phone.
crazyrkr11@ this is not a crap check your eyes, and people buys these beauties just you don't know any of them.
ChechenTDG@ agree, but people who buys these babies who have employees on there payroll who uses EVO to update them ;)
No offence to anyone but this is tech+luxury you need to appreciate the beauty
Gold plated Nokia?
Nokia needs to drop their pretentious Vertu group and use their design resources on where they really need help
I own a Vertu. I don't need a smartphone since I have a majordomo who prints my email and reads to me only the important ones. If a message requires deletion, I have one of his fingers removed. Rarely is spam a problem for me. I must take a call, tonight I am dining on white tiger and coelecanth on an island off the coast of Sri Lanka.
