Remember "
Square Motorola Android slider?" Ah, those were the days. The little twister's returned, this time with much greater clarity and a new name. Meet Flipout. According to
Gizmodo Brazil, we're looking at Android 2.1 with a dash of Motoblur thrown into the mix, a 2.8-inch display, full QWERTY keyboard, 700MHz processor, 512MB ROM / 256MB RAM, GPS, and a 3.1 megapixel camera. The HSPA phone is expected in the states this June in at least three different colors -- black, green, and pink.
Backflip, Flipout... one can only hope Motorola keeps the trend alive with a Soundgarden-themed solar phone, the Outshined.
God Dammit Motorola!
Stick with designs and operating systems that work instead of taking good concepts and putting your own "spin" on them like Motoblur and these design monstrosities
What in the world......
@Aldeezy ...is this green vehicle???
AT&T gets the weirdest phones
Looks exactly the same as the Nokia that came out a while ago:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/nokia-twist-given-a-proper-photo-shoot-priced-100-for-verizon/
So, it is both ugly and unoriginal
@JFH What is worse than that is that at least the Nokia Twist didn't require a data plan. It was for the texting crowd and cheap phone plans. This thing will require a full data plan... for what??? You are going to browse the web on this? Don't think so!
Thus in the end, like the Kin, it will try to straddle the Feature Phone / SmartPhone line and fail because it won't be good enough for the SmartPhone crowd and too expensive for the texting crowd. End Game.
they made a great phone with the droid and now they just keep sending out these abortion droids running a UI nobody wants. -___-
2.8 inch screen that fills up most of the front. That thing must be tiny. That and the unusual form factor are the only selling points I can see. But you never know. It might be enough.
I couldn't buy it though, looks just too fragile.
Motorola already begin release since Motorola Hint QA30 (Q4,2008).
Motorola have Motorola High End, Motorola Middle End and Motorola Low End. Motorola High End will release this year 2010 is Motorola Droid 2, Motorola Nexus Two, Motorola MT920 (possible have 12 Mega Pixel Camera with Flash Light, Full HD (1080P) Quality for Video Recording with LED Light for in the night, 4.3 inch screen, HDMI Port, 3.5 mm Jack, and more). That's device not come out yet but Motorola with Motorola Droid, Milestone, Cliq and Dext already make history with largest grow smartphone in the world (91.7%) after iPhone (131%). Nokia smartphone getting poor grow only 43%. Nokia already told they already FAIL in the Nokia High End Phone and Nokia Smartphones..
am i the only one who thinks it should twist from the other corner. Wouldn't that be easiest for tight handed people to open with one hand?
I like it. I love square phones.
This looks like a toy. Moto needs to have all their meetings in round rooms until they figure out that square, blocky phones are not appealing.
At least this Moto is 2nd ugliest to that BB clamshell shocker.
It's kind of hard to imagine that the company who's basically making all the shitty, low end, entry level Android devices this year made the Droid, which was one of the best phones of 2009. Wow. The Cliq. The Backflip. The Devour. The XT. Maybe even that Motosplit thing we've seen some leaks of.
All we can do is hope that the Shadow or the Nexus Two are real and that one or both are coming sooner rather than later.
Motorola MT920 will be more expert / advance feature than Motorola Droid 2 and Motorola Nexus Two / Motorola Shadow. Motorola MT920 will release after Motorola Droid and Motorola Nexus Two / Motorola Shadow, Motorola MT920 will release end this year 2010. Motorola MT920 will have 12 Mega Pixel Camera with Flash Light, Full HD (1080P) Quality Video Recording with Xenon Light for night shooting, HDMI Port, 4.3 inch screen, HDMI Port and more.
Looks like a nokia twist. 2.8 inch screen? not total fail, just a fail for my personal desires.
It's supposed to cost R$ 699 in Brazil, unlocked, against R$1399 + data plan of the Cliq or 1699 + data paln of the Milestone or iPhone around here.
The Motocubo, the featurephone that inspired this made quite a fuzz around here - seems like the brazilians like the idea and the design - but the prece killed it - the same R$699, but for a featurephone.
If this piece of news is true, Motorola will be full of win around here - considering they replace facebook with orkut in the blur ;)
@Verythrax quick correction:
Cliq and the Milestone are 899 and 999 with data plans, usually, those prices above are for unlocked phones - but the point remains the same.
I know I'm going against the flame trend here but I'm kinda diggin these square phones. Nobody says for a phone to be attractive it must be a rectangle with a full touchscreen. Then again with this resolution/screen size, it seems like a poor device for Android...
