Digital Storm tempts with 4.4GHz Black|OPS Assassin gaming desktop
Not down with piecing together a gaming rig for yourself, eh? We'll forgive you... this time. Thankfully for you, Digital Storm forgives eternally in situations such as this, with the pre-fab PC builder today cranking out one of its most beastly rigs to date. The Black | OPS Assassin is hailed as the planet's "most advanced vertically cooled PC," boasting an Intel Core i7-930 that's factory overclocked to 4.4GHz. Other specs include 6GB of DDR3 RAM, an EVGA X58 motherboard, 750 watt power supply, Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) and your choice of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (1.2GB), ATI Radeon HD 5870 (1GB) or GeForce GTX 480 (1.5GB). Go on, wade over and start customizing -- that $2,387 base price won't sting too badly.
Digital Storm Debuts Black | OPS Assassin – The World's Most Advanced Vertically Cooled PC
Black | OPS Assassin system boasts vertically cooled chassis design, three massive 180mm fans & industry leading Sub-Zero cooling system to deliver overclocks of 4.4GHz or more...
Fremont, Calif. - (May 10, 2010) – Digital Storm, the predominant name in computer system integration and engineering, proudly debuts the industry's most vastly superior vertically cooled gaming PC – Black|OPS Assassin.
The Assassin is Digital Storm's latest system under the Black|OPS brand, notorious for benchmark busting performance. Each Assassin system contains an innovatively designed chassis that naturally promotes vertical heat dissipation by taking advantage of heat's naturally tendency to rise. With three enormous 180mm fans positioned at the bottom of the chassis, cold air is pumped into the machine & warm air is forced out through the top of the chassis. Next, Assassin receives Digital Storm's Sub-Zero Liquid Cooling System treatment which not only removes performance inhibiting heat from the processor, but also from the motherboard's chipset and voltage regulators. The combination of these processes results in outrageous overclocking potential, with recorded overclocks of 4.4GHz and higher.
For hardcore gamers and enthusiasts who want the most astonishing graphics performance imaginable, Assassin is able to efficiently cool a three-way SLI configuration of NVIDIA's GTX 480s with minimal graphic card fan noise. Digital Storm has also rotated Assassin's motherboard 90 degrees clockwise, allowing for neat peripheral cable organization. The sleek, modern looking chassis is made entirely from aluminium and features a large side window that cleanly displays the world's best hardware within.
"Assassin is the system that performance enthusiasts have been waiting for. The pairing of exceptional components, patented processes and bleeding-edge design enables components to be pushed far beyond what any other gaming PC on the market today can promise," remarked Rajeev Kuruppu, Digital Storm's Director of Product Development. "The ability to effectively remove component damaging and performance inhibiting heat is phenomenal, but I'm astonished by how quietly we were able to accomplish this. The phrase whisper quiet is an understatement."
Digital Storm's Black|OPS Assassin gaming PCs are backed by the company's Standard 3 Year Premium Parts and Labor Warranty are available for purchase at www.DigitalStormOnline.com. The base configuration for the Performance configuration has a starting price of $2,387.

Windows 7 Home premium? Really?
@ryan420 Really what added features would the average user need in the more expensive versions?The only thing I can see coming in use is the XP Mode, but most users wouldn't know how to set that up or would find the majority of their programs run finely natively.
@Bobinator2000
the average user wouldn't buy this rig
@Bobinator2000
Yes the average user buys a 4.4ghz gaming rig. It's all the buzz in the budget section of your local large electronics supplier.....
@ryan420
this is a gaming machine, why do you need ultimate or professional? remote desktop? gtfo this thing is awesome..
@account5 Because this lunk of junk is already priced in the premium range. Delivering it with the most expensive version of W7 is a matter of course.
@Bahumbug Yea, make it more expensive for nothing other than the sake of being more expensive... That really makes sense.
@Bobinator2000 i also bet that the average user who doesnt know how to use xp mode has a mac
@account5
Yes, I use remote desktop to remote into my media server.
@mrqs exactly. Even if you are a gamer, you buy this, that's a shame. you need to find something else to occupy your time with... It's just a game...
@Firehazel I imagine it's a number of games. Heck, if I had the money I'd probably have a multi-million dollar home theater (and I mean THEATER). If you got it, spend it, if you don't, built it (or get a job at a PC store for a month and slowly steal parts that way... it worked for a friend in Germany =p).
for a fairly traditional atx tower, the internals are gorgeous
@mrqs
are we even looking at the same case? this is a Silverstone Fortress 2, if you look closer, video cards, motherboard, and everything else hangs from the top instead of the side. it's anything but 'traditional' bro.
@GN1: Thanks for that. This will be my next case, no matter the cost. The thing is awesome.
@GN1
i mean traditional atx in the sense of the general size, shape and look
compare to some of these:

http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/07/pyramid-pc-casemod-will-look-really-cool-on-your-desk-next-to-yo/
i myself have my comp integrated in to a diy "bookshelf"
@mrqs
i'm not disagreeing with what you said about unique shapes of cases, but for a gamer or high end pc owner you have got to worry about cooling, a la 'function over form'. and none of your examples can really beat the cooling technique of the fortress 2 case. i cant really compare the fortress 2 with the 2 DIY cases considering they are made to fit a particular taste. but there is no match between Fortress 2 and Level 10. Level 10 is what i would call a 'show case' a publicity stunt. there is some function in it but too much cooling, price, and weight was compromised for the look of it. at $750 and almost 50lb of metal i rather go for the a cheaper and more effective alternatives.
Im not sure about you guys.... But ive never been inside a digital storm before, im beginning to think they might not exist....
But, all these gaming things seem to think there are such things....
Who am i to believe in these crazy times?
Now that's a nice looking rig! Digital Storm know their stuff! keep it up guys (and girls)
I swear if someone says that one phrase, I'll kill them.
And you know what I'm talking about, dont pretend you dont
@Arcticpenguins
"Can it play Crysis?" Plz don't kill me I had to find out if that's the comment you were looking for. I know people say it all the time and I hate it too!
@Arcticpenguins
Unlike the iPad, I bet this can play flash.
@Arcticpenguins Of course it can play Crysis...
But can YOU?
@Bahumbug
Some people say the human brain is the best computer in the world.
But can anyone honestly say that there brain can run Crysis?
@mattisdada
Its true. It is. Better, depending what specs of your body is lolz.
If you want to play things like crazy or even better, join the army XD now thats true graphics ;)
I think they have to start offering more options in terms of dispaly size. 24" LCD for a rig that can have quad SLI/Crossfire is not enough. Something like 30" and maybe a projector in the mix would be nice. Just bigger screens and more choice plz!
@hero785 I thought there are 27" monitors out there, at least dell has one
@hero785 Almost all hardcore gamers have abandoned single large screens for a screen array.
I'm running three 24" panels, and you really can't go bigger or they won't fit on even long desks.
Its a much nicer experience than a single 30".
i love the over-the-top names gaming PCs get. Love it!
If they ever release one called "Soviet Russia XIII", I'm going to buy it instead of custom building my own.
This thing probably has enough cooling to replace my freezer.
That aside, the inside looks nicer than the outside lol
Black OPS Assassin - oh please! Names like that suggest the target audience is 13 year old kids. Kids with filthy rich parents that is.
This looks like a cool machine, but did anyone else notice that the Motherboard is rotated so the I/O ports are facing up, or is it just me?
@The Doctor: Thats the point. Hot air rises, so its easier to push hot air up where it wants to go.
Also, they leave a void between the actual top of the case and the ports so the wires can be plugged in. They exit a hole in the back. This makes the case look much cleaner.
@The Doctor they stated that in the story. Looks really nice
Who the hell buys premade power machines besides an architect dad for his spoiled kid?
Good luck handing over $800 in labor.
Nice beast, but I prefer making one myself, cheaper that way :)
@acn010
Agreed, my system is coming up on being a year old and the only major differences are the updated graphics cards and the insane overclock.
It's nice, but can't match the looks of these:
http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/
Black Ops Assassin? What, are they just stringing together whatever "awesome" sounding words they can nowadays? The new Ultra Ninja Pirate rockin' hard core destroying uber bladed uber smashing uber uber death dealing thermo-nuclear mutant aggressor extreme RSX quantum force mega doom one-X chassis.
Just silly.
Gotta have. Might need a dedicated 20 amp circuit for this one.
Oh hey look, it's a MAINGEAR SHIFT!
