Erick Tseng leaves Google and Android... for Facebook
Looks like Google's Android team is being shaken up a little: senior product manager Erick Tseng just announced on Twitter that he's leaving for a new position at Facebook. You might remember Erick from his appearance on The Engadget Show and a brief video we did with him at CES -- he was an instrumental part of the Android team, and a pretty great interview to boot. We'll see how Google decides to fill his shoes, but for now let's wish Erick luck with the new gig -- we're sure he's got a million new friend requests coming his way.

Facebook must have broke the bank getting Tseng over there. Kind of sad though, Android is really starting to become mainstream now. Imagine though if this develops into a new relationship between Facebook and Google? That would be an unstoppable force. Oh well, hopefully now we'll get a much improved version of Facebook for Android.
Who will lead the charge in the Nexus Two?
f'n idiot
@nwhat
"f'n idiot"
Funny... thats what I thought when I saw your post.
Apart from the headline and Erick's statement, have you any facts on the move? Would you have turned down a better package to remain at the Goog? W/ his qualifications, would he have problems finding work if Facebook tanks? Hell, Im sure HP/ Palm wont mind hearing from him.
@F C
Indeed.... If the headline was Eric Tseng leaves Google for HP - there'd be a nerdgasm felt worldwide.
Leaving for facebook?? Some people have to make money of people pretending to be friends with each other.
@AstroSeven
Don't forget about MS's Docs (google competitor) integration...
What do I know? But I think leaving the fastest growing mobile OS for a the biggest social networking website could not be the best possible move...
@TareG
Just a few edits, before we go to print...
"What do I know? But I think leaving the fastest growing [Ed: free] mobile OS [Ed: with multiple impeding lawsuits for patent infringement and a OEMs being taxed by a major competitor in Seattle] for a the biggest social networking website [Ed: that basically makes money off ads, like Google] could not be the best possible move..."
Seems like a step "down" in my opinion.
