LOS GATOS, CA--(Marketwire - May 12, 2010) - Mark/Space®, creator of award-winning desktop and handheld synchronization software, announced the immediate release of KIN Media Sync for Mac computers. Mark/Space was chosen as the exclusive provider of Mac media sync software for the new KIN ONE and KIN TWO phones from Microsoft. it would be better if it could sync with iTunes but then maybe im asking a bit too much...
@2her0ck
Meh, it's a mediocre feature phone. Who cares?
@2her0ck
woops, didnt see the iTunes and iPhoto syne part...
@akbc
Yes, clearly a featrephone is 'mediocre' when it does everything a smartphone does except run 3rd party apps. Sound like some blind fanboism to me.
@Kamokazi
If Apple released this thing, and marketed it in a way showing what it is supposed to be used for, I wonder if engadget would use the comical 'mediocre' cheap shot with it.
I'm sure it would be praised as filling a gap in cell-phone, smartphone gadget lineups, bringing all social-networking outlets together as one!
@Kamokazi
Everything a smart phone does? Really? It doesn't even have a calendar. A calender!!
@Kamokazi
Yes, it is mediocre. Especially considering my ol Samsung Rant could run third party apps. Along with a lot of other feature phones...
@2her0ck
This hasn't been designed to let shitty developers ruin the system. As long as it fulfills its design, I don't see anything wrong with this. Don't blame MS for your providers damn expensive data plans either.
Watch as MS screws everyone who supports them by releasing a compatible app for the iPhone but not Windows Mobile/Windows Phone for a couple months if they choose to even do that.
@SDreamer Not to be snide, but doesn't releasing the Kin phones at all count as "screwing everyone who supports them"? Or at least absentmindedly flipping them the bird?
It'd be nice if this worked with the Zune as well, but I won't hold my breath.
@Tickers
was gonna say the same...well I wanted to say that it looks to me like we can expect zune mac suport in the near future whicch would be nice. Now if they would only release that nice looking zunehd outside US :D
@nk
agreed about releasing it outside the US, I enjoy my zune hd quite a bit. Would also be nice to see software for mac, but it seems MS states every time that they're asked that there won't be mac zune software. Not that it matters for me, but im sure it would be nice for some people.
Better yet, why even require a computer? You can download music on the device, so if you have a zune pass why not let us go free and just use a wall charger most of the time?
Kin Media Sync for Mac syncs Kin media with Mac - alliteration, assonance, repetition?
Will this work with the Zune?
@pika2000
You want to penetrate your Zune with your Kin...???
Dude... Just pick up your sh*t and move to Redmond if you love MS that much
Mac support summarily dropped in 3...2...1—wait, sorry, I got distracted by my phone that runs third-party software. Did anything change? No? OK.
@Shunnabunich Well as this is a software based solution that accesses a Macs open database files in the same way that Blackberry, Motorola, Nokia and others do it, then that is unlikely.
I guess you must be referring to Palm who couldn't be bothered doing that but decided to spoof device ID's over USB thus breaking the standard.
@hill60 Yeah, but this is Microsoft we're talking about — not even MS themselves, but some third party they told to go do something about those Mac people in case one bought a Kin.
My non-Mac owning ideal of a:
Mac owner; makes as much of more money then I do to be able to afford said Mac, may also hold "style" of their devices high in their priority list.
Kin owner; the opposite of a Mac owner
@Cringer
Sorry, was that supposed to make any sense?
uh... Yeah... Good luck with that whole iTunes/iPhoto thing.
Expect Apple to release an update to specifically break that.
Been there and got the t-shirt.
*/Palm Pre owner
@fr4nk1yn
they did it the apple okay way and creates software to interface with open stuff to do that, unlike palm that spoofed the iPod USB ID and made the pre look like an iPod to the mac...not okay
Release a god damn Mac Zune client already. It's the only thing stopping me from buy one.
See Palm, you could've done it this way and maybe things would have turned out differently…well probably not…
Wot is MS up to... This device looks 'kin useless!
Haha, love that first line. Nicely done!
I used mark space on my old winmo phone. it's a turd. a kludge at best.
So let me get this straight.
You make media syncing software for the Kin to work on the Mac, but not for the Zune 30/80/120/HD 16, 36, 64?
Not amused, MS. Not amused, at all.
