Motorola Motoroi getting Android 2.1, bound for UK?
There's no word yet on when the Motorola Motoroi will make it to T-Mobile (in the industry we call that "the T-Motoroiola rumor") but there has definitely been a good deal of chatter concerning this handset. The latest has Pocket-lint confirming a UK release with Moto itself. Offering similarities to Taipei's HSPA-lovin' XT701, users in Ol' Blighty (and the rest of the UK) can look forward to an 8-megapixel camera (with a Xenon flash), support for 720p video, mini HDMI, and an unspecified processor boost. In addition, Android 2.1 is likely to be part of the deal. We have neither a timeline nor a price, and the veracity of this rumor is yet to be established (although it does seem like a no-brainer), but if this all goes down as Pocket-lint says it will you can color us Yanks mighty jealous.

Comes bundled with doughnut-shaped rubber pillow.
@futurerheza
Specs wise, its similar to the EVO 4G, without the 4G bit!
@weeman Which is good enough for us GSM users!.... wait... no snapdragon & under 512 of ram.
Motoroi can suck it! Bring the thunder, dell.
@futurerheza
yep... "looks" nice. 2.1 "is likely". lol... so it's unconfirmed? so it could be 2.0, 1.2, 9.4, 1.7, or any of the 58,514,942,997,375 versions of android out there? heheheh... fragmented platform is fragmented. does not compute.
@tigercranestyle so this is the new flamebait/fact that apple fanbois have on android....fragmentation.
@tigercranestyle
False argument is false. Try again fragment iFan.
(Looked at the picture) I didn't know our British friends can read Korean...
pass. EVO4G looks better.
@EnGadGetz: then again, those of us in the UK would have no use for a CDMA-based handset, even if it did offer 4G connectivity (especially since it seems to be the 4G standard that all the major telecommunications companies are steadily moving away from).
I wish moto's naming scheme would be better. It would kinda embarrasing people asking 'Hey what's the phone?' Its the Motoroy. Ie me phone share it name with a 50 year old man
@educatedshrimp That's the chinese and/or korean name. I'd think it would get a different name in western markets.
Too many icons on the bezel.
@Luke
If they are buttons that mean more screen real estate and quicker access to functions then I think it is worth sacrificing a little bit of the current trend for a minimalist aesthetic.
Look! It has full and proper real flash support.... Xenon flash!!! ftw
Can't functionally pronounce without getting weird looks, therefor, Needs a new name.
Is it me, or does that phone look rather think?

@Boyo
er thick.
It's supposedly 10.9mm, which is pretty thin - a hair thinner than the HD2
Moto, please bring to Vodafone (UK), else it's an HTC Desire for me. That said, the Xenon flash tempts, thing is, is T-Mobile's 3G service any good this side of the Atlantique?
@Oflife: better than Vodafone's.
And once Orange and T-Mobile merge their networks (which is well under-way), there will be quite a gap between 'Everyone Everywhere' and the rest of the market.
Plus, with Vodafone, you get 500MB then if you go over that you get another 500MB which you pay an additional £5 for. Then if you go over that, you get another 500MB that you pay yet another £5 for.
T-Mobile offers an 'unlimited' bundle with a 1GB FUP.
@Step666 Thweet! Thanks. :)
"the T-Motoroiola rumor" that is lame.... hahah.. :)
If it's as locked down as all the non-DROID devices are, I don't think anyone will be disappointed in not getting this device.
damn....
is it possible to buy unlocked version of this phone?
@NODOGT Almost certainly - you can definitely buy all other motorola handsets sim
free from places like Expansys.
@Malcolm
With a massive price markup. Go go anti-competitive carrier practices!
Xenon with 720p and android?!! Sure it will come with 1Ghz snapdragon. How about screen spec and size?!?
Nokia Better release the N8 ASAP!!!
@Raffstyle According to GSM Arena it has the same process that is in the Palm Pre; Which is not a snapdragon but instead the TI OMAP3430. Which runs at 600MHz. It can easily be overclocked to 800mhz on the palm pre. Which should be okay enough but it is still no snapdragon.
@Evolyptic The 800mhz overclock is probably the processor boost they are talking about.*
Must have.
I love being English :D
@JimJam707
sme but contract still has over a year to go. hopefully 2 ghz and Palm OS on HTC by then (plzplzplz HP)
I'm on T-Mobile and would certainly prefer this offering over Samsung Galaxy S we're almost certainly getting. The Galaxy S UI looks heavily customized with TouchWiz and after handling the Behold II a few times, I can say I'm not a fan. I do think that Hummingbird chip is pure win though. Anyone know if there's any Tegra 2 phones in the pipe?
@Gold Mamba: in all likelihood someone will shoehorn Sense onto the Galaxy S pretty quickly and then you can be free of Samsung's 'suitable ages 3-5' UI.
i love the additional capacitive buttons. still silly NONE of them are call end/send
OK, us Yanks on T-Mobile ...
@mpv Us yanks on T-Mobile will have a decent line-up of android phones soon enough, hopefully.
The bump...the bump...why is there that weird bump on the side...?!
@SiriusBlue It is a security system to make sure the phone doesn't get stolen; Don't worry to much, the bump will be as lost as an Asian girl with ass.
First and last sexual analogy I am ever doing when it relates to cellphones.
@SiriusBlue -- it's where the camera controls are located, for when you hold it "landcape" style to take pictures...
@mpv Oh. Wrong bump. That bump is so tiny I didn't even notice it.
[I know what you're thinking.]
and I'm hopin' this will be one of them!
@mpv I wish it had a little more ram, but if this is what we get I'll be happy. :]
Too bad T-Mobile US cancels this phone otherwise I would have gotten this instead of the Nexus One.
@bachviet Nexue One smoke this away in performance...
I'm waiting for an LTE android phone for now.
T-Mobile should of definitely picked this bad boy up. They had the X10 with AWS bands, they didnt pick it up. The N900 also had AWS bands and they also didn't pick it up. I think T-Mo just likes the regular mid-range smartphones. If they do decide to pick this up in the near future, I'm not counting on it, I hope motorola decides to update the specs, like HTC updated the specs for the T-Mo version of the HD2.
Motorola should also get rid of Motoblur on this phone, this is for a more mature audience. Motoblur is pretty kiddyish.
Moto instead of bringing this out here to ATT and Tmobile, they bring out crap like the Backflip,Clix etc....
@anotherworld
Yeah cos Moto decides what the carriers sell to you? Are you dumb
enough to think they don't wanna sell it to everyone? Blame your carrier for not taking it from Moto. They will sell to anyone if they can.
i love this phone!! I guess the only drawback i have with the phone is the internal storage. But when they are able to root it that shouldn't be an issue. but if anyone has a chance check it out. I bought one just after a few minutes trying it out.
FYI: when i first bought it, it was running 2.0.1 (SKT build) but has since been upped to 2.1. Just wish the korea govt ease up on the apps market.
