Wi-Fi Sync app rejected by Apple, headed to Cydia for $9.99
Can't say we're surprised to hear that Apple rejected Greg Hughes' Wi-Fi Sync app. You know, the app that allows you to wirelessly sync your iPhone / iPod touch with iTunes without having to USB tether to your computer. Messing with Apple's synchronization technology is a pretty big no-no as demonstrated by Palm's webOS bluff. Here's the rejection as explained by Greg from an unnamed Apple rep over the phone:
Update: An Apple spokeswoman contacted us to clarify that the rejection was the result of security issues and "technical issues including reading and writing outside of the app's container." So there.
So while you won't find it in Apple's App Store, it's available now on Cydia for a cool $9.99. You have jailbroken your device haven't you? Don't make us get all MuscleNerd up in here."While he agreed that the app doesn't technically break the rules, he said that it does encroach upon the boundaries of what they can and cannot allow on their store. He also cited security concerns."

@kcasante Because Apple is "magical", as in magically stupid with the way they conduct business.
And this is why every Apple product I ever bought has been returned.
one of the many reasons to use an android phone!
apple is no longer the best and only smartphone on the market. their marketshare will decrease as android and others continue to grow.
long live competition and innovation, and in the end, the (educated) consumer decides all. however the sheep will always follow the flock, but more and more people are getting fed up with Apple's BS and are realizing there are now options when it comes to a smartphone.
i can't wait to sell my 3GS for the EVO!! Chicago 4g wimax baby!
@jawman Its funny how you promote your opinion as fact, who are you debating with? Nokia is top dog and RIM is in second. iPhone has never been the best and the only. The "educated consumer" has always been deciding. There are no sheep, just people with preferences. Just like you'd want Google to control your life, while other want Apple. Stop acting all high and mighty just because you PREFER Google to rape you for your money. At the end of the day, the masses (not you) want iPhones because they're easy to use. A couple of years ago, you probably weren't even that interested in cellphones, but thanks to Apple, a cellphones OS can determine a phones fate.
@Cold Dead Fingers
of course its my opinion you dumbshit! who are you to act high and mighty and put words into my mouth? i never said it was fact. YOU DID. that's what comments are for, for people to post their opinion and say what they want. fuck off you idiot! and android phones are so much harder than an iphone to use? they're both easy! and look at you saying that i was never interested in cell phones until a few years ago thanks to apple. who the hell are you to assume this? you are a complete iDiot!!
fuck off!
really.. who buys apps from apple store when you can download them in batchs at torrent sites ?
@jayminho Most people buy apps or do with out, it is just the small group of dbags to which you belong that thinks cracked apps are the right way to go.
Just got this app, works pretty darn good. Didn't take very long either; I did however, synced my iPhone the other day. I guess thats not to bad.
