Leaked Windows Phone 7 ROM filename suggests an HTC Mondrian?
The lads and lassies at XDA-Developers made an intriguing discovery this week: a leaked 100MB file that might be the first Windows Phone 7 ROM actually destined for a device. What's more, it could possibly reveal details about a phone we barely knew existed -- the filename references an "HTC Mondrian." At best, the contents might reveal wonders beyond imagination, including full specs, bundled apps, even the tools needed to properly shoehorn WP7 onto your existing HTC handset. At worst, the community might never open the blasted file, or discover it's all a clever hoax. There's really no indication either way, so we prefer to dream. If you think you've got what it takes, try cracking the ROM yourself (registration required) at our source link.

@7777777777777 WTF?
Good name
@Wolfticket Does it mean anything?
@Wolfticket HTC Mondo!
Nevermind, I "google"d it... ;)
@Wolfticket looks like i have my next phone, the HTC Mondrian will go well with my Mondrian Nike Dunk Lo and Mondrian glasses... this day just got awesome (I love Piet Mondrian in case you cant tell)
@Wolfticket
kind of weird though, would have thought it would be something like HTC Awesome, HTC Unbelievable, or something
@JeremyBenthem Mondrian in most artistic circles means exactly that... MoMA FTW
Mondriaan though...
@7777777777777
What the hell is up with this guy?
@loocas HOW DARE YOU!
J/k pretty big name though. :D
@JeremyBenthem Really? Another trite "extreme" sounding name? So you can rage with your mountain dew?
@nbolmer
hey I'm just saying, look at their recent names, Incredible, Hero, Supersonic, Magic, etc
@Wolfticket
its an internal codename moron
@account5
It's a good internal codename
@JeremyBenthem
HTC Incredulous
HTC Supercilious
@Wolfticket
This may be HTC only WP7 this year ?

@AngelLulu I imagine its going to be a winpho7 launch device which will be in like december so i can imagine youre right... This will also be the first phone to directly compete with the iPhone on its own network so it should be interesting
That's one heck of a codename.
100MB does seem a bit small
@Luxury Guy
It's actually almost perfect. Current WinMo 6.5 ROMs are 130MB with Sense and all the other programs that come preloaded on a 6.5 device. For an OS that's still in development, 100MB is probably perfectly reasonable.
@Delta
Hmm and just like that the original XDA thread that was working on decoding the ROM is no longer there...
That picture is awesome.
I would love WP7 on the EVO hardware. Android is cool but not so great for business purposes. The ability to open edit all sorts of documents including powerpoint, outstanding MS Exchange support and hopefully voice dial via BT would make WP7 a much more preferable OS for my business needs. I just want some great hardware like the EVO.
@boe Careful what you wish for http://www.winsupersite.com/office/o2010_om.asp
@slipdisc That's Office Mobile 2010 for Windows Mobile 6.X, so it can't really be taken as representative of what we may see with Windows Phone 7.
@boe
The evo 4g does all of those things
@boe
The evo 4g does all of those things
@boe, the EVO is the most business ready Android phone yet, full MS Exchange with Active Sync. So much so, folks who have seen the EVO, say it meets all the EAS profiles corporations look for.
@Luxury Guy Office on Windows phone 7 is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBMBQNOHzGc
@bobdude5 You are EXTREMELY wrong. Have you used Android? I'm guessing not as you'd know how wrong your statment is. Voice Dial by BT does NOT work on most Android phones - this is even covered in Google's own Android newsgroup as a feature request being considered!
Have you tried to view powerpoint presentations on your Android phone - nope - I didn't think so.
Please review these videos, then try to sync up your imaginary Android phone with calendar, contacts and e-mail and then compare their limited functionality with these videos - what prompted you to post diinformation in the first place?

@boe Here's a Powerpoint demo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EclMYuBK13Y
@wpultima
the fact that you need a youtube video to teach you how to hack a powerpoint into the phone isnt helping your argument
wp7 does it with 1 press easily in office.
i better be able to customize my WinPho home screen with the Mondrian inspired tiles... Devs get on that if its not available on launch id be very thankful
Lasses...in a tech blog??? Get outta 'ere!!!
I am smitten with the concept of a UI that stretches "beyond" the screen.
One step closer to having a portable ROM to existing HTC devices. Mad love for the guys over at XDA.
Thank god its going to be supported by HTC, they really know how to make a good handset :)
How will it stack up against the Samsung Iranman

@n8equalsd
I know you replied to a post, but
OH THE IRONY!
@7777777777777 Just stop it already. Stop!
HD3 with a portrait slide keyboard on Verizon?
pretty please?
H! T! C! Wooo! This will, if it comes to Sprint, likely be my next phone. Purely because HTC has been making nothing but amazing phones of late, and I don't seem them changing the trend for WP7.
wouldn't mind seeing this put onto my nexus one. hopefully somebody cares enough to try, as the only ports we see is android to something else, not something else to android
What forum is this in at XDA? I apparently don't have the requisite permissions.
@dragonfli The thread either got deleted or hidden. It was up when the story first posted, and now its gone.
Off-topic, but not sure where to ask:
Does anyone know of a way to subscribe to a feed of multiple either/OR tags? The engadget.com/tag/tag1,tag2,tag3 will only show articles that have ALL three of those tags in the same article. Anyone know of a way to do that, but for articles that are tag1 *OR* tag2 *OR* tag3, all in one RSS feed?
@Johnny Rockets Oh sorry Johnny Rockets. Looks like 7777777's threads were deleted.
@Johnny Rockets You could just subscribe to all 3 feeds?
