EB710 e-reader rocks an LCD, intriguing user interface
Looks like this one's been sitting around in the shadows for awhile now, and in fact, we can't even find the bona fide manufacturer of this here device. Boasting a 7-inch LCD (since when were those deemed fit for reading on?), built-in rechargeable battery, multimedia player, image viewer, optional FM radio, USB 2.0 connector and a user interface that almost looks a wee bit like Android at a glance. Regrettably, there's no pricing or availability details to be found (nor any indication of an inbuilt wireless module), but we're guessing the mystery owners here wouldn't try moving this one for too much.

@joelaf
Most of their stuff winds up rebranded, on Ownta or Chinagrabber.

They've completely ripped off the HTC clock!

Since forever
Typical China rubbish with dodgy hardware and stolen UI. Sense and Tenuis icons, some of which i created :-|
I cannot wait for the first dual screen device to be announced. Either in the courier book style, with a touchscreen LCD on one side and E-ink on the other, or perhaps a dual sided symmetrical design, with a lightweight reversible cover snapped on to the back of the device to cover the unused screen. This would present the best of both worlds; E-mail, videos, and social networking on the LCD, and books on the E-Ink.
@demi9 the entourage edge is a dual book e-ink\lcd...been out a few months www.entourageedge.com
Seriously, a huge majority of us probably look at computer screens every day for 8 hours a day, then we probably come home and look at a computer screen for a few more hours after that. why do people suddenly think reading an LCD for a few hours at a time is going to make us all go blind?
@scoot
marketing. e-ink is garbage.
@scoot Going blind isn't the issue. When I'm reading a book I don't want to have to worry about taking breaks every now and then and looking away from the screen because of the glare. It might not affect everyone as much but I would much rather an eink display for that reason.
too bad the courier got dumped; now we have to contend with this kind of stuff in it's place.
The hardware is convoluted (design-wise). There's no unity.
The UI is android + Sense + Symbian S60. It's not unattractive but these guys didn't even bother to redesign it. They just took those elements and put them on the same screen.
So Engadget thinks this device is not suitable for reading because it has an LCD screen. Has it not occured to Engadget that most people read this website/blog on LCD screens.
One thinks that Engadget is having a case of double-standards here.
