HTC Mondrian with 1.3GHz Snapdragon detailed in leaked Windows Phone 7 ROM?
As expected, the official-looking Windows Phone 7 OS ROM leaked over the weekend is already yielding results. Pictured above is an image extracted from the "oemavatar.cab." Now that could be a generic Windows Phone 7 image or it could be the HTC Mondrian already seen referenced by the 100MB file. The kids at XDA-Developers have also pieced together specs from an ongoing analysis of the registry and RGU files. So far they've spotted references to a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) display from Optrex and a 1.3GHz QSD8650A/B Snapdragon from Qualcomm -- a chipset, you might recall, supporting multi-mode UMTS and CDMA 3G connectivity. It's also packing a digital compass but seems to lack a keyboard. Mind you, none of this is absolute but it's very very intriguing.

@jaffreywali lol your underestimating the brand loyalty and trust that comes with Microsoft, when the general population finds out that there is going to be a phone that easily syncs to their Home PC AND Xbox 360 the WinPho7 is going to take off like a rocket... MSFT and Google will be battling it out for that two spot while apple sits in the back wishing they could be part of the gang
That looks like a placeholder image. Both those specks, man... Those specks! I wish it was a dual core 1.5, but I can easily live with 1.3. And the name is really funny, too. The best part? On a different website (wmpoweruser.com) it said that this will be on CDMA AND GSM networks. BINGO!
1.3? This is HUGE!
If this is real, it looks like an absolute beast of a handset. I know it's not a 4G device, but this might be the only phone to stand next to the EVO and not look obselete.
EVO 4G all the way
No suprise consider win7 phone is not out till end of the year, expect dual core cpu in cellphone next year.
Anyone who thinks the phone will look like this, I'd say watch out since the ROM only leaks specs. If anything I'd imagine this Mondrian will be either the Diamond 3 or the HD3 with WP7 and a new look that is an evolution of the HD2.
I have found my next smartphone.
4.3" screen?! The size is nice, but the bezel is going to kill it... They'll need to trim down on the bezel a bunch to make it more pocket friendly. If it was 3.5" that's be more ok.The HD2 pulls it off awesomely.
Can't wait for the dual cores to come...this is a good intro still.
I want one.
The phone does look like that but it has a camara on the front as well as the back of the phone. How i know this is i just did a Microsoft Usability Study and got to play with that phone. Its sweet but not 100% yet.
1,3GHz??? that's faster than my computer....
Cant wait to see more on WP7, its shaping up to be one of the best all around phone OSs. For me it always was coming down to the Lighting from Dell and whatever HTC came up with, thats still the case. I know the Lighting will have that sweet Samsung AMOLED display so HTC will have to step it up here but if they can provide 720p video recording, than we have a winner.
Can we talk about this in the next podcast. it'll make me happy
nice looking phone -- whadaya know, a smartphone doesn't have to be a boring rectangle
wait wait wait wait.
i see 3 buttons on the bottom.
don't ALL winmo7 mobiles have to have FIVE BUTTONS?????
Wow... i had a 2004 compaq at 1.3 ghz and now my phone could be that fast...
All imma say is THIS is the processor they shoulda put in the Incredible....
@jroc74
The Droid was already out using an OMAP with 65nm technology, why come with the 8650 when the 8650A is there to use? The 8650 uses 65nm, the 8650A uses 45nm.....that alone shoulda made HTC dying to use it.
I think the most exciting feature of this phone is the multi-mode cellular connectivity. Although, it WOULD be on the cusp of 4G ubiquity that a phone that supports CDMA and GSM finally makes an appearance...
@felipedeeznuts Unfortunately, that's exactly why it's actually coming out. The sad truth is that current technology (including the 8650 inside the Incredible) already supports multi-mode cellular. Verizon simply wouldn't hear of it.
I like but its a boring form factor. Needs some flare.
@carverd
Stickers? Stickers...
In all seriousness, if this is the design - I hope they throw vivid blue (or red) glow under those buttons.
