Nokia E73 'Mode' coming to T-Mobile next month?
This is totally out of the blue, but we were just hit up with a screen shot suggesting that T-Mobile USA will be launching a portrait QWERTY handset from Nokia on June 16 known as the E73 'Mode.' As is evidenced with the Nuron, T-Mobile has a tendency to assign trademarkable names to Nokias in its lineup that are known elsewhere in the world by their model number only, so we imagine that this phone will end up launching globally simply as the E73 as it takes over the E72's throne as Espoo's top productivity beast. More on this as we get it, but in the meantime, check out a bigger shot of the phone after the break.

@N900
Yeah, I think they just changed the buttons a bit.
I'll pass, looks like another boring Crackberry!
sigh 240x 320, nokia come on!!!
@nastro
Agreed. Single reason I won't upgrade me beloved E71 to an E72. I want all the great new stuff in the E72 but I refuse to look at it on a 320x240 screen this day and age.
@inept The camera is *MUCH* better on the E72. I have an E71 and the camera is useless.
@FelipeAlmeida
Oh, no doubt. Many things are better. Much faster processor, more storage, 3.5mm jack, thinner, better camera, etc. I want all of these things, but until a higher res screen comes along with them I will not buy. 320x240 is not acceptable.
Chances are I'll just jump over to an N8 when I can.
This is just the T-Mobile U.S. version of the E72, although you can get a U.S. version of the E72 off of Amazon as well.
I happy with every penny I spent on my E71. The E72 is the perfect device, and this E73 looks even better. This could be a killer smartphone if it just had more exposure in the US market.
looks like it is plastic making it a cheaper version of the e72.
so according to my sources at nokia, there is no e73. @justmoe1, i agree, it'll probably get specs knocked down and it looks crappier. i loooove my e72. so much so that i switch daily b/w that and my touch pro 2 :)
Nokia is finally looking into subsidizing their phones in the US, after having all but been obliterated from the American market (and according to the earlier stories today, Symbian taking a loss worldwide too).
@Johnny Rockets
Come on dude, at least try to be halfway smart, Nokia does not subsidize phones, you meant to say they were not subsidized by carriers due to a lack of flexibility on Nokia's part.
And according to the story earlier today, Symbian was strong as ever for Nokia, they held market share. Smartphone wise they conceded a little marketshare, but shipments went up by 8 million for the quarter. Hardly dying.
Looks like a simple facelift only, almost identical to the current E72 except for navigation buttons.
Having finally gotten an N900 to play with, I'm tempted to switch to this. As beastly as the N900 is, I miss the phone features from S60. I'm that one dude you know that actually uses voice dialing.
@c w j
I am getting an N900 tomorrow, I do not use voice dialling. How do you like the rest of the device. Is the resistive screen responsive? (I know most of the OS already).
@JFH
Yeah it pretty responsive and the most responsive resistive screen I have seen - better than a lot of vanilla capacitives but dont expect iPhone-like responsiveness. For that you need the N8. I used one yesterday and it was super smooth - the speed of the cover flow UI is just awesome. Camera is a totally different class and has pretty good face tracking. Browser even rendered Engadget perfectly and yes browser had pinch-zoom working almost smoothly (better than what the ads showed but still needs some work to go to iPhone levels).
@naashak
Yeah, I know I am tempted by the N8, even the SE X10 a little, but the N900 is just too good not to get, from a capabilities perspective.
I am very happy to hear the N8 is good. I might just pick one up when it is out, since they will not be very expensive. Thanks for your response.
@naashak, that's BS - N900 doesn't have a multi-touch screen, so pinch zoom cannot work on it. You have swirl zoom instead, plus standard double-tap and volume keys zoom. The N900 is already a class of its own, it does not need lies to make it look awesome.

Sent from my N900.
@incognito he was talking about nokia N8...
Yeah I'm gonna debrand it before I even turn it on
@Kaito Kid : Debranding it would require that a generic product code existed. Depending on what changes have been made to the handset versus the E72, that might not be possible.
wait so does that mean no front facing camera???
@Senor Cif
If you look at the image, you can see the front cam already.
@JFH Do you really have to comment 30 times in every Nokia story?
Come on! Your fanboyism is pathetic. Stop it Please!
@JFH
You've also been keeping up to date with n8 news on the mobile review forum huh..... No wonder you wanna get it so badly :-)
I do too
I am very sorry you do not approve. I do not consider myself a fanboy, but man am I glad you cleared that up for me. On the other hand, if youy are that much bothered by someone elses interests, life must be sad for you. Now, either say something very intelligent, or do everyone a favor and move along.
I like nokia,like it's Eseries.I think smartphone should be very practical just like E. Look so many people around me use E71 or other nokia's phones(E63).

E71 was a great phone the only issue with it was lack of support from nokia. They would not fix the purple camera spot in all photos
e73 has been out for quite sometime in new zealand
@keanu096
are you referring to http://bit.ly/ava9kv ? That's KIRF man!
man i absolutely cant wait for this device to come to t-mobile. T-Mobile hasn't really been a nokia supporter of much, but im sure if this handset goes live they will bring more nokia's for sale. Can't Wait.
I noticed a typo on this screenshot...Look in 'Target Audience' box and look for the second mention of the word "the". Typo or incorrect grammar? Real screenshot or fake? I guess we will see in a couple weeks.
