@richardsoper Yet again someone confuses Android sales with what the article is about, Sony sales. This is about the sales performance of the Xperia X-10, nothing else.
@dmgabe For one, the Xperia is an android phone, so it is related to android. and two, the Xperia out sold the iPhone in japan(or some asian country) even if they didnt beat apple in the US, its still a win.
Well, Sony should sell in Japan... after all, it is their home country.
@ipaladin Yes, and considering the amount of money they spent on their ad campaign leading up to launch, it would be a dissapointment if it wasn't the best selling smartphone in japan.

This confirms a few things: that CEOs of big tech companies know and understand where the real game is, and it's following and playing catch-up to Apple. It also confirms that the anti-Apple nerdlinger brigade are completely unaware of how dominant Apple is.
So when iPhone 4 is out, when Apple TV (a "hobby" that Apple has been playing around with for years) gets a refresh, and Apple links its hardware (iPads, iPhones, iPods, Macs, MacBooks) with all the TV goodness and delivers using... iTunes, which currently is the largest retailer for the entire music industry... holy smokes! what could that mean for TV? Seriously. Credit cards, register. Proven consumers buying media like crazy.

@atomikpunk Yeah, and there is no way that they could simply use components from another source. The tech industry is full of options.

Mr Stringer, with all due respect, Sony aren't beating anyone. Google are doing all the beating, you're riding their coattails.
