Currently impressed by the ExoPC Slate. With the 850g weight (120g more than iPad), that bad boy brings all the cool stuff on board including the USB port (3), Card Reader and HDMI etc.
If the HP Slate does not do more than beating the 5 hours battery life of ExoPC Slate, it will not interest me!
@NewBie Yep, ExoPC has stepped in and taken over where HP left off. They say they should be able to boost that final battery life up to over 5 hours, which is great. The only time you might even need that kind of battery life is if you're on a long drive or plane ride. If they can get it up to 8 hours that would be sweet. HP slate without Windows 7 will not offer me any compelling features over an iPad, i'm looking for a netbook alternative with the ability to utilize my existing home network.
@rwalrond >>HP slate without Windows 7 will not offer me any compelling features >>over an iPad I guess you are just like me with no WebOS experience. The problem is partly MS fault by refusing to allow the sale/use of Win 7 Home Basic in rich countries, and the customization of the Win 7 Starter. The Win 7 Embedded like most other embedded editions will not be that much cheap for slate.
@NewBie Not sure what your point was here, I don't want a limited version of windows on a slate, nothing less than home premium. In terms of WebOS, I joined the palm developers network the minute It became available, but quickly realized that it wasn't worth it to develop for it and instead decided to develop only on the iPhone for now. A Windows 7 tablet would allow me to use the tools i'm use to to develop great touch base applications.

@NewBie Sorry, typed 3 instead of 2 USB ports.
