Mystery Motorola Droid (Shadow?) spotted with Verizon branding, set to be starting somethin'
Why hello there... you. Over at the HowardForums, a certain "wnrussell" has uploaded a picture of what looks to be a Getting Started manual for a Verizon-bound Motorola Droid that we can't recall ever seeing before. There's unfortunately no other information provided at the moment, except maybe a hint from the filename: Shadow. Is this the same 4.3-inch phone we've been seeing rumored for some time now? At any rate, we gotta say, this is a pretty attractive device -- and if that's a new hue for Motoblur, we're all for it. Now how about pulling out a secret slide-out keyboard to make our lives complete...

The Icons in the bottom look very froyo to me. So I'm excited
@AJwiese
I wouldn't get too excited, this should be launching with 2.1 with Blur on it
Those buttons agree with this looking like blacked out 1.6 Blur buttons
no thx
For me this looks to be the Droid 2 not the Shadow Because i believe the shadow is a GSM phone. MB810 which is the model number thats supposed to be tied to the Shadow looks similar to the models of the cliq and the backflip. the droid 1 is A855 and the other recent motorola device to be wifi certified is the A955. Just my opinion.
Oh hell no.
Motorola and Verizon need to SLOW DOWN. How are you going to release the upgrade to the Droid not even a year after it was released?
Android is ridiculous.
cpu in the Droid vs the cpu in the Shadow. http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=18384
@Patlex 80% increase on 3D performance looks good to me !
funny how everyone is arguing over what this phone have and dont have.
lmao no one know shyt for sure!!!! who can prove they right.... a hyperlink to a forum LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
calm down people
any front facing camera?
Check the screen in the picture, that looks like it's pretty much Android stock. Maybe no Motoblur?
@Valicore Defiantly doesn't look like stock. It looks like an updated version of MotoBlur or skinned differently.
Looks cool but as my 2-year with VZW is running out I think I'm going to wait for HTC's next big Android phone beyond the Incredible.
@nickux That kind of attitude will get you to wait forever. In the cellphone world, the biggest device only retains a thrown for about a day and then it becomes obsolete. I'd stick either go for the Incredible or just get this bad boy.
@SomePerson Yeah but lately it feels like every 3-4 months a new must-have hits the market which is right when my contract renews. Trying to play the game just right is tough. But you're right people will be forever waiting on "the next big thing"
HTC and Android are definitely producing great phones for the consumes.
@TomBlaze You do know this is Moto, right?
@SomePerson
Jajaja I dont think he does!!!
He is not in this world!!
Why can't we just get a pure Android device on Verizon?
The Incredible has Sense, and now the new Droid is going to have Motorblur. Sense I can live with, but if Motoblur is indeed on this device, I won't have an iota of interest in the device.
This is why I wanted the Nexus One to come to Verizon. HTC built. Sleek. No physical keyboard. Just pure Android - no 3rd party skins.
i bet this is the rumored Motorola Xtreme (aka Motorola DROID XTREME xD) as for speculation as to where this thing will go in the line up, it'll probably be your Motorola Candy Bar alternative to the Motorola Droid to add something to really compete with the Incredible.
Just when i was thinking about getting a droid incredible!?!? Argh!
@Rimz007 it has motoblur so you can say yuck
the original droid seems to have been designed by and for a robot..
hopefully this phone has some softer edges and doesn't feel like some sort of mechanics tool in your hand...
Welcome to the EVO party. Better late than never. Good thing you didn't copy HTC's EVO design at all.
@TheEdge
how can u not copy it...its a slate device so huge as screen and 4 buttons...that would be saying the evo copied every other android before it :D
This phone looks great, but bring on the new Dell phones!
I don't care about the haters. I am in love with this sexy ass android and can't wait to get my green loving paws on it!
this looks very much like froyo but if this is the new motoblur then props to motorola for coming to their senses and learning how to actually design a good looking UI for once.
look at the icon in the center off to the right a bit. looks like this is a webcam feature. perhaps there is a front facing camera.
it looks as though there is an icon independent for the camera feature which sits right next to the proposed webcam picture?
any thoughts? could this be Verizon's response to the iPhone 4G, or is this just an icon for making videos?
4.3 inch screen with a slide out keyboard might be a little too big for my pockets...
@masterkoifish
yea if you wear tight emo pants cinderella, hmm no 4g? ill go with evo but that droid 2 looks really nice nonetheless
This BETTER not have Motoblur.
Note to Motorola:
No one likes Motoblur.
NO ONE!!!!
None of this motoblur bullshit ok MOTOROLA? Give motoblur to the AT&T Morons, Verizon customer's dont want it!
If this is the Shadow it's gonna have Blur on it, that's why I'll wait and see what the Droid 2 will bring to the table.
Looks sexy to me..
This is definitely going to be my next phone. Please Engadget, work your sources and get some new information about Shadow beyond what Howard Forums already has.
Thanks!

Those are the specs from the site, although the 2MB is supposed to be 4GB.
All this is rumor and conjecture at this point, but I have a couple things to say:
1) Motorola had better NOT be stupid enough to load a custom UI on this thing. Vanilla Android is one of the main reasons I got the DROID in the first place
2) I don't really care much about battery life because I'm always nearby a charger (in my car, at work, at home) anyway. What I care about is SPEED. Motorola'd better make this thing FAST.
I dont mind motoblur, really i dont....and it can be disabled. But, directly from the guy that released the photo via howardforums "It wont make it to shelves until late August due to a hardware change."
Hmm??? What could the change be?
@Rimz007 noo, i just watched a video of motoblur i thought it was like HTC's friendstream, sorry self, u messed up.
Upgrade in Sept. Looks like this is what I'm getting.
