HTC Hengshan and Huashan Windows phones make another online cameo (update)
The Android-powered Vision isn't HTC's only possible user agent-borne leak from this week. Now comes word of two potential Windows Phone 7 devices , the HuaShan and T5588 HengShan. The former has a 480 x 800 screen (no obvious relation to the Mondrian spotted yet) while the latter sports the more typical 320 x 480. Beyond that and an apparent lack of physical keyboards, we're kind of in the dark here -- assuming this turns out to be legit, but those names popped up previously on a roadmap with a 4.3-inch / 3.4-inch screen size, respectively. At any rate, whether or not it's this pair, we definitely have at least some HTC Windows Phone 7 devices to look forward to by the end of 2010.
Update: Perhaps we spoke too soon on the platform of choice -- as WMExperts points out, other parts of the profile hint at not Windows Phone 7, but actually the soon-to-be classic Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Enthusiasm lowered? Ours, too.

Weird names.
@guitarkid
These are code names and probably for the Eastern market (hence why they're in Chinese). I don't think anyone in China would find these names weird.
@andthemaniam exactly~ they are mountains in china
@guitarkid Pfft. Your name is weird.
@guitarkid I climbed Huashan overnight. It was awesome :)
@s4t1sfy Does shan (山) mean mountain then? Since both have shan, and since I think I remember 山 as a kanji for mountain.
@guitarkid
ok so which is the more impressive mountain of the two? I want to know which phone to keep an eye out for.
@HikaKao ture.
@bolezhinkov Huashan is taller than Hengshan, and according to the reports, HTC Huashan has more pixels on the screen, maybe because it has a bigger screen(?). So maybe you should keep your eyes open for the Huashan.
@HikaKao
Kanji (漢字) means Chinese characters.
@guitarkid
Huashan 华山 Hengshan 衡山 both mountian names
@guitarkid Sounds like these phone will land on Asia, which is great, to think that the only promising android phone for it, is the motorola shadow.

HTC will soon have so many phones that the end user will be scared to buy one
@PavelAK
True. Right now it looks like HTC has 29 different smartphones in the market. With more to come. I'm not sure if even Nokia has so many smartphones on sale and in the pipe.
But customers too scared by variety? I don't think so. ;-)
@SeeKo
Yea, but one of my friends just bought a WinMo 6 phone and shes not the most connected person but i was like "what are you doing!". i think it was the HTC Imagio on Verizon, the should have 3 classes of devices, low mid and high end class, low end not requiring a data plan, and i have a few more idea, but 29 phones on the market, thats ridiculous
@PavelAK Dell has so many computers, that I am afraid of buying one. They manufacture for the high-end, the everyday, and the low end, for the corporate, they have minis, etc .... scary, isn't it?
And because Dell has so many different lappys, pcs, etc, no one is buying their products.
Mobiles are developing right now the same way and the same speed as the computers have a decade or more ago.
@h2oferko Like dell, also unlike me, people ask me what computer to get, they ARE confused. Not you, not me, and probably not anyone who's reading or commenting on this blog. Dell does have a lot of different specs and they up the prices for the smallest change, people I now that buy this stuff think the more they pay the better it is (proportionately)they think that 100$ is worth .1 ghz, I think we all know, it's not. You seem a tad sarcastic but the person whose looking and never wonders about the current tach stuff... they are thinking about what to buy
@PavelAK
when you go to splits based on carriers and OS, along with keyboard vs. no keyboard, it doesn't seem as bad really. alot of the phones are very similar but just run different OSes. 29 phones is still alot of phones regardless but it's not that bad when you put it into context.
like Verizon has 6. the Touch Pro 2, Imagio, Droid Eris, Droid Incredible, Ozone and the Touch Diamond and they all serve different markets with some even representing older hardware.
@PavelAK you still make no sense
@h2oferko Then please just ignore it =D
@PavelAK
you are very right about the market being confusing. even myself, who considers himself "in the know" as far as computers, has a hard time picking out a computer. so many options and price points for the smallest of changes. i mean it helps knowing what each spec is needed for and how i personally use computers but alot of people don't have that knowledge and get ripped off going blindly into a PC purchase. i don't think that smartphones have gotten that bad yet but it really is heading that way in the confusing the normal consumer base with too many options.
but at the same time, you could argue that the normal consumer base who buys a smartphone just wants a normal phone that can do a little extra. like my friend went out and bought a Hero on Sprint a couple months ago even though i told him since his old phone wasn't broken or anything, if he just waited a little longer he could get the EVO (well i was plugging the Supersonic at the time). the fact is it wasn't that big a deal to him and he loves his Hero now. but he does often get that confused/disappointed look when he asks me to do something hacky on his new phone for him and i have to decline because i don't know Android (i use WinMo).
@PavelAK its really sad were living in a world of people who dont know a damn thing about technology despite it being such a major part of our world... and even sadder that freedom and variety are thought of as bad... how did we get like this?
@SoCoolCurt don't worry, I can find myself a computer.just i always get yelled at by the regular customer, as i said. Yes, i agree it hasn't overdone it yet, there is still only two to one phone per category. I would not be suprised if I asked somebody who is just the regular person buying a phone "what's the difference between windows mobile and android" they might not give you an answer. I've heard things describing a android phone a "google phone" they just wont get it.
@SteveyAyo don't worry in 50 years i think that 90 precent of poeple will see this kind of stuff as common knowlage
@SteveyAyo
How can you blame them? Most people don't have the time or find it stressful to cope with this stuff. I can understand that. And let's be fair by pointing out Apple to serve exactly that group. They do it simple and easy on the customers. And by their success you can measure how big that group is. Other people, like us probably, like the diversity. We love the gadgets and we love that pace that some companies go. It works both ways.
LOL HTC "衡山" and HTC "桦山"? Wow... XD
Wow I would buy on names alone...honest
You know, I wouldn't be at all surprised if these particular names are different upon the launch of these phones in Western markets...
I like the sound of the 4.3" one... But let's just wait and see ^^.
Come on HTC! Just leak it like others...
I am guessing that these two devices are headed for Chinese Market since they are named after two of the five famous, fictional Kongfu factions that specialize in swordsmanship.
These names sound like Chinese war generals rather than phones.
I hope these phones live up to their awesome names.
@maddawg579 HTCs codenames aren't like phones... I mean Incredible, Desire and Raphael don't conjure up images of phones do they?
@l3v5y
...Raphael sure does XD.
@MegaJapan ninja turtles?
HTC is on track to become the #1 or #2 handset manufacturer in the world.
Go HTC!
I'm on an overclocked pre, bout to get an EVO. Windows 7 is looking awful good though. I tend to go with the brilliant underdog. I mean the Palm pre on Sprint cmon! F off sprint haters! But to the subject, Windows 7 is the most ideal format for what I do. I just can't wait 4-6 more months.
@majorhunadadun Looks good yes but the true functionality is a huge downgrade from winmo 6.x. And by 'true functionality' I don't mean facebook integration and things like that. It has some of the same limitations of the iPhone first gen for god sake.
@majorhunadadun
I do hope they don't overlay it with Sense UI. Windows Phone 7 looks amazing in its purest form.
@weeman Microsoft aren't allowing any customisation anyway.
@weeman From what I know Windows 7 will have no overlays. Forbidden by MS. Won't need it!
LOL to the source links! Best info sites ever! ;-)
@SeeKo Unfortunately, the sites don't give much interesting info, but they do confirm that phones exist :)
Fairly sure these aren't WP7 devices. They've been on roadmaps for the same time as the Leo, and the Huashan has a few WM6.X ROMs for it (WM6.5.3/WM6.6)
They are NOT WP7 devices! the BrowserUA says IE6 -> WM6.X
How in the hell did HTC come up so fast?
@mosaicbrandon
It took them 8 years and over 35 phones. Not like they've been nowhere.
@mosaicbrandon to be honest, they owe their mainstream uprising mainly to Android.
@tracdoor Not really, HTC went mainstream with the Diamond, and that generation, not with Android. Android has only recently been important (Desire, Passion etc).
Is there a big different between
480 x 800
and
800 X 480?
Like is it more important to have the left number be larger than the one on the right?
Sorry for this random ass question but when I see 400x800 I wonder if it the screen itself will look nice or will it be your typical sorta unclear phone screen...
