The
Android-powered Vision isn't HTC's only possible user agent-borne leak from this week. Now comes word of two potential
Windows Phone 7 devices , the HuaShan and T5588 HengShan. The former has a 480 x 800 screen (no obvious relation to the
Mondrian spotted yet) while the latter sports the more typical 320 x 480. Beyond that and an apparent lack of physical keyboards, we're kind of in the dark here -- assuming this turns out to be legit, but those names popped up previously
on a roadmap with a 4.3-inch / 3.4-inch screen size, respectively. At any rate, whether or not it's this pair, we definitely have at least
some HTC Windows Phone 7 devices to look forward to
by the end of 2010.
Update: Perhaps we spoke too soon on the platform of choice -- as
WMExperts points out, other parts of the profile hint at not Windows Phone 7, but actually the soon-to-be classic Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Enthusiasm lowered? Ours, too.
@TheLondonExchange
800x480 would be a landscape device probably.
@TheLondonExchange
Would you rather have a 1920x1080 monitor or a 1080x1920 one?
One is landscape (8x4) the other is portrait (4x8)
@MattsZ
So the 480 x 800 device will be a landscape phone? Like a MID or something? Seems kinda weird.
@ Mega
Seeing as how I asked the original question I really wouldn't be able to answer yours now would I?
@TheLondonExchange Well, I believe that it's the resolution when the device is held in landscape. Take this picture for example. http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/10/htc-touch-hd-takes-480-x-800-pixels-fullscreen/
Everyone holds that device in portrait for general use. For that it would be 800x480, but when it is in landscape; watching movies and such, it would be 480x800
@TheLondonExchange No, it'll be a portrait phone - it's like in maths, the x axis comes before the y axis, so it's 480 pixels wide and 800 pixels tall.
@Shokz
Gotcha...thanks for the having the patience to explain to me guys.
Htc will over take Nokia soon.
Curious..
Will these Phone7 devices be data mining like the Android phones ?
IMO wp7 looks a lot better than android but when it comes to openness and functionality android just rapes everyone in sight
'm definitely jumping ship from iPhone to Windows Phone 7 in the fall. I've been pretty impressed with what we've seen of the OS so far, especially the social media, Xbox Live, and Zune integration.
Phone wise, I think the Dell phone is the best I've seen so far.
Thought we had established that 480 x 800 was to be the default screen at launch and 320 x 480 would come out 'later'. Does this imply 'later' means 'shortly after?'
Im a Windows groupie and i cant wait to get my hands on a 4.3-inch WP7 phone by HTC/Dell. My HD2 is great but it would be nice to have a WP7 fully packed with all the trimmings at its debut in Barcelona. Gosh, i get so excited engadget posts articles about WP7.
*Now back to AAA for Windows users*
@eminisp
Wait they have an insurance association for Windows?
huh, i thought the minimum requirements for wp7 were wvga? so how comes one of them has 320 x 480?
@shu8i Exactly. Something doesn't add up. There's no room for a HVGA phone on WP7's roadmap.

EVO Like Device with WP7 + a TP2-ish Keyboard for me please!
@Pookiewood
yes please!
i actually rarely use the keyboard on my TP2 but i do like having the option.
@SoCoolCurt Hopefully they'll have both with or without a keyboard. I would pay $500 right now for an EVO that ran WM 6.5 and had a guaranteed upgrade path to WP7.
I'm not against Android - I have high hopes for it but even 2.2 offers me no business functionality over WM6.5 - in fact less as WM 6.5 opens excel, word, ppt docs. I can open pdfs, I can play flash, I can fully sync with exchange, I can search my entire mailbox of the last 4 years on the server for key e-mails, I can dial by Bluetooth. My phone is 3 years old (Vogue) and a I REALLY want to upgrade but the diamond was a dud and while the TP2 was nice, I wanted to wait for something that was likely to run WP7. If the HD2 was available on Sprint I would have purchased that in a heartbeat.
it's going to be interesting to see windows phone 7 affect on android handset releases. Htc and others have been primarily focusing on android but now with winpho 7 their resources will be divided. Will we see the android releases slow or will the oems release twice as many phones?
@ACMartin I think Android will win the consumers hearts, while WP7 will struggle between business ppl and consumers, and finally fail to RIM and Google respectively.
@TareG I actually don't see how RIM will continue to grow their marketshare in the face of Winpho 7. 7 represents a real threat to their corporate install base because of it's seamless exchance and office experience, and their consumer offering are
@ACMartin I agree, i think that if anyone has a real chance at overthrowing RIM it would be WinPho7.iPhone is not a usable device for business and android has potential but is thought of as more for tech people so windows can come along and blend their beautiful and original interface with strong exchange and office ties they actually pose a real threat to RIM... my prediction in 3-5 years MSFT has the majority american marketshare
@SteveyAyo the wildcard is going to be webos. With HP supporting them I wonder what their strategy will be. They have a long road ahead them, but if they can launch some serious hardware with a focused ad campaign they might be able to get people to take notice of how great webos is.
@ACMartin If HP starts releasing brushed aluminum ElitePhones im almost instantly buying one. Their laptops are beyond incredible and if they can capture that in a handheld running WebOS im sold 100%.
and im sure HP will be advertising like crazy for their new phones, they have some pretty good marketing campaigns so far, this wont be any different
i hope one of these htc win 7 phones make their way to sprint
Cant wait to see what HTC comes up with. Right now just based off looks... the Dell Lighting has my heart but I know HTC will bring the heat for their debut WP7 device. The OS looks to be nothing less than stellar.
All the biggest news is taken from lines of code these days.
Umm, hate to bring bad news but see where the file references this?
Microsoft Internet Explorer Mobile 6
Yeah, that's WM6.5, not WM7. Details like this matter when claiming something.
I love HTC.
