@hill60 in what way could you multitask on day one?
@SteveyAyo iPod and browser at the same time.
iPod and photo slide show at the same time.
MULTI-TASKING = DOING MORE THAN ONE THING AT ONCE.
Apple is so influential, for ihaters the definition of multitasking changed shortly after June 2007 to deliberately exclude Apple's implementation.
Verizon even used the new definition with their iDon't campaign.
@hill60
ok then, but my phone back in 1999 could multitask way before the iphone if you count playing music and say, texting someone
iphone got beat again, ah, its so wonderful when apple are years behind tech yet their fans think its new :)
though, this isnt real multitasking but yeah, we'll let you have your moment :)
there's nothing at all magical about the ipad lol
@SteveyAyo
You keep reinforcing how much of an idiot you are. You credit Ives MORE than Jobs?
You know what, that's so dumb it doesn't even deserve a response.
yeah, so? how is this breaking?
To bad the keynote isn't tomorrow. TIme is ticking... The competition is getting fierce. But Jobs always delivers a persuasive speech, so I'll be waiting.
Google or more precisely Vic Gandotra raped Apple at I/O.. No one can deny that ! Now steve jobs is surely going to fight back with the same old hype around the same old phone thats there since 3 years.
@redeyeskranti
No one can deny that? Seriously? Wow.
@HighestRanked2 what are you talking about? Apple wasnt the first company to adopt HTML5, they are just the first to ditch Adobe for it and its a few years premature at that. Microsoft, Google and Adobe all have been helping develop HTML5 further for years but they also still recognize that Flash is much better at present time.
Android is pushing for a more unified structure of their OS, but in the end they want the hardware companies to have the freedom to use whatever they want. No one ever questioned HTML 5 being the future, the problem is we arent living in the future and he didnt offer a viable alternative for NOW
@HighestRanked2
i love how steve jobs criticizes closed, proprietary...um...plugins.
@Jack You couldn't see that he took so many RIGHT and APPROPRIATE diggs at Apple....He didnt insult just for the sake of insulting. He made sense.
@HighestRanked2 I know that Android is fragmented and its bad. But seriously, iphone OS UI is 3 years old. Its too long. Apple puts a tiny 'magical' feature which Symbian(I wont name Android) has since years and boasts of redefining it. C'mon...Apple created magic in 2007 when it launched the first ever iphone. Now, thats truly revolutionary and after that no significant breakthrough in innovation. I am aware that even Android didnt truly innovate anything- it is just pushing loads of features into their phones but atleast it is giving the users choice. I fear Android is going to overshadow Apple just like Microsoft did in the past. Apple honestly innovates but I think its time to do it NOW before Android runs away with the accolades. Obviously, Apple will have its fan base but it would be nice if attempts to capture Android's market too.
I love both Android(even with such fragmentation) and iphone(even with such a closed system) for what they are doing.
@redeyeskranti
Really? The braindead 1984 ad referenced hyperbolically in reference to... Flash?
Gay.
@SteveyAyo Not living in the future?
What the hell has been happening WHILE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING THREE YEARS FOR ADOBE TO IMPLEMENT THEIR SHITTY PLUG-IN on ANY mobile platform?
We are STILL living in the future waiting on ADOBE to release a FULL version of their CRAP on anything other than a handful of mobile devices running the latest hardware.
Is that the "living in the future" you are referring to?
@hill60 no thats not at all the future im referring to, the one im referring to is the one in about 2-3 years where HTML5 is a viable and usable alternative to Flash, If apple was so dissatisfied with flash why didnt they create an alternative like MSFT did with silverlight? Too much blame is sent to adobe for this... adobe finally found a popular smartphone to implement flash on and have done so... its the PRESENT
what do you mean where are you gonna find the money for that new iPhone? Its not gonna be priced higher.. They are gonna make the new one $200 and $300 and then drop the price of the 3GS to $100 and drop the 3G model.. its not gonna be more expensive.
His keynotes are quite "magical."
You are dumb and wish you could be as successful as Jobs. Who cares what he wears!! What matters is he's products that up to now have been successful. But I guess people who are jealous find anything to criticize some one.
@eddieruiz001
"You are dumb"
best defense ever.
Engadget:
Can you please explain why this is breaking news?
I wish you would consider using that tag more appropriately in the future.
@Johnny Rockets The "Breaking News" tag appears to be applied to any post which is likely to get a huge response. If Engadget posts anything with iApple, then a large number of people feel the need to chime in and add comments, including the iHaters out there.
I personally hate Steve Ballmer, Microsoft, and any junk they have to offer. As a result, I stay clear of any Microsoft-related posts. It just does not interest me at all.
I would urge iHaters to do the same... stick to the things you love... the Droid Pre Plus Mo 7.
Pirates of silicon valley is a good movie.
@coolduder1
should be arriving from Amazon any day now...
@coolduder1 Yeah it was!
I thought endgadget was a gadget blog not a celeb one
hopefully he'll release a new ipod touch as well as the inevitable new iPhone 4G...
@Jack yes Ive the guy who designed the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad. Everything that makes Apple a household name. im not saying that Steve Jobs is useless to Apple im just saying that when he retires the company isnt going to crumble in on itself like stock prices when he was on leave would indicate... Jonathon Ive has created the "sex appeal" that apple products now completely rely on... as an ifanboy you should be more knowledgeable about the company you blindly support
@Jack and yet you responded anyway and again instead of coming up with any sort of counter argument you resorted to name calling, well done Jack youre really establishing yourself as a paragon of intellect and humility... btw did you ever find that chart you pretended to create on engadget or no?
You know, the "you blew it" line stopped being funny like, well , um, ONE MILLION POSTS AGO!
@TheOrioles33 ...it's called a meme. A meme by an idiot.
@fast When you say the "you blew it" line is old, you blew... ah, you're right.
@fast
It's not a meme, its a nerdy joke.
ZOMG no way! Stop the presses, it's breaking news!
Get a grip on yourselves lads.
@TheSeventhSon tell you what, I'm glad I was sitting down when I read it!
I really wish this open vs closed system discussion would go away. Companies adopt tactics and strategies which support their business model. There are pros and cons for each approach. In the end no one is being forced to pick one system or the other (somehow N Korea has entered the discussion). If a gadget does what you want it to do and makes your life easier, anything else is horse poop. Looking forward to WWDC.
What a waste of an article. Apple fanboys can go ahead and down rank this, but this article isn't breaking news. Breaking news is Apple using flash on the iPhone and iPad.
@Konga068
Breaking news is Steve J and Phil doin' yer mom.
I wonder what he's gonna wear..
@corykowa a mankini!
They could announce a new carrier(s) and iTunes in the cloud and I'd be the happiest fanb0i alive. Until then, I'll continue to rock my Palm Pre + HTC Hero.
Like it or not Apple will still be relevant! They got great industrial designers on their team.
@kyphem
But when they surpass MS in market cap, like next week, they will become a totally irrelevant company...
Good job Engadget commenters
Shall we play word bingo. How many times do you reckon he will use "magical" "easy" "fast" "brilliant" "fantastic" in his speech?
why is this a breaking news ?
Any post about Apple inevitably leads to a war.
But iPhone is iPhone, there is a reason 25% of Microsoft employees have one
Wonder if he will open up Apple again so users get a choice? Or just continue destroying this once so great, innovative and amazing company.
@PatrikJohnsson
WTF? Specifically...? Stop throwing the word OPEN around if you don't know what it means
@Wesscoast By open I mean the opposite of closed? Like Can't use Flash, can't do apps that compete with Apple (or that Jobs personally don't like), you know open, as in Android?
LOL~~~~
