The Engadget Show - 009: Kevin Lynch, editor Q&A, AT&T GNOC tour, Sprint EVO 4G
Greetings people of Earth. The Engadget Show is back in a big way with this latest episode! First, Josh sits down with Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch to tackle a handful of thorny questions, from Flash vs. HTML5, to the smartphone revolution and his company's relationship with Apple. Then Josh, Paul, and Nilay welcome editors Chris Ziegler and Laura June for a special editor's Q&A, answering all your burning questions about news, culture, and what it's like to write for Engadget. We've also got a tour of AT&T's Global Network Operations Center (GNOC), which is essentially a war-room for networks that has to be seen to be believed. All that, and music from minusbaby and visuals from noteNdo. Okay that's enough reading... time to watch!

God Bless Engadget!
@AA Alex: dang, so wanted to be there. Wantzted that iPad.......
@AA Alex: dang, waht, they gaveaway an EVO????
I wasn't there
Finally, something to make this unbearably slow news day go by a bit faster.
Interesting....Nilay has a pretty consistent dress sense :-P lol
Evo 4G is definitely YUM hardware and Sense is even more YUM
@spartandre217
It's formal at JoshT, but as you go out it gets more and more casual. Chris is wearing jeans, and Nilay wearing some sort of military jacket. On the outer layer we've got Laura in a slayer tee and Paul in a plaid shirt.
why don't you make a Android compatible video format to download.
oh that's right we don't need it we have full Flash 10.1 !!! hahaha...
@psp888 You can stream the show in the Android app. You should do it. Do it now.
awsome
The show was very misleading in terms of the Evo.
In all of the posts leading up to the show, it mentioned that it would be featured as a segment on the show or something. But there was nothing of the sort. It was given away as a prize to the audience, but it wasn't even in NY; it was to be mailed out later.
Look at the first paragraph of this article; the Evo isn't even mentioned.
Why is it in the title??
@Johnny Rockets
Completely agree.
@Johnny Rockets They had an EVO in studio (not the giveaway one), which they showed at 32:28. My impression is that they wanted to do a segment, but the Q&A session went long and they ran out of time.
@rav97 Yeah that's what i thought too... and that's the main reason i wanted to watch this episode!! haha
but... i really didn't care, it was a great show either way. i love the Q&A
@rav97
Yeah, Paul showed the Evo for literally less than 10 seconds. They didn't even talk about it.
It just seems odd that it's advertised on the show, but I have no idea why.
@Johnny Rockets Totally agree! My main reason for watching was to see some EVO 4G action. Loved the program anyway, but still disappointed a little :( Wassup with that Josh?
Awesome. I wanted to watch this on Saturday but couldn't. Will watch when I get home. :)
Yessssssssssssssss! Finally.... this + mw2 = awesome
Kerry King approves of Laura June
I like his glasses. Much better than Jobs.
Josh. You still need to DJ the next Engadget show. That would be epic. You know you want to.
Nilay gets all his studded bracelets at Hot Topic
Lol @ the AT&T segment.
It's literally "The Death Star"!!
How do I get a job at Engadget? :P
Is there any iTunes link to subscribe to the HD version? Or is the only way to get the HD version by downloading via the the link in each show's site post?
Ziegler is such a mushmouth it makes every podcast so annoying...
Well what do you know, 4 of 5 engadget editors/writers prefer the iPhone.
I was really disappointed with Kevin Lynch's interview. He said what a CTO is expected to say...so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It was very evident that he fumbled about the Mouse Roll Over effect on a touch screen device! Good job Josh, for putting him in a tough spot.
There was something really fishy about the 'moving dots' demo on the iPhone and the Android device. Is he saying that a flash app performs better (more frames per second) than a native app on the iPhone?!
I wish Kevin understood that by 'performance', we usually mean, how effectively and efficiently their technology utilizes the resources on a computing device! 25 frames/sec moving dots that drain the battery life faster than you can wink.....no thanks!
I wasn't wowed by Kevin at all! Maybe Adobe deserves a more charismatic and straightforward CTO (& CEO?).
Why is the scrubbing on the player so bad ?
It skips just 4 seconds at a time for me and trying to seek it to a particular time just hung up the whole process. Guys, please get back to vimeo or heck even youtube ! It just refuses to scrub/skip to various parts of the vid ! I'm gonna have to sync this up with Zune to watch.
Please change the player guys.
You get a female editor on the first time and you don't let her talk. LET THE GIRL SPEAK!!
Adobe opted to demo the power of flash by comparing a 1GHz Nexus One with Flash to a 600mhz iPod Touch with HTML5? Wonderful example, Adobe.
I don't want to be *that guy*, but the comments towards Laura made me uncomfortable. She even looked like she didn't take it well, but just kept quiet to not make a scene. Please be careful of sexism guys, even when you're joking around.
Three people I'd invite to a dinner: Ballmer, Woz and Stringer with lots of drinks.
