So, AT&T cries about T-Mobile labeling HSPA+ as 4G, yet they want to advertise how they have the "nation's fastest 3G network"? Something seems wrong here.
@patz2009 for real! There was some report that came out that said verizon and sprint moved a high % of the "3g" data.. what's "fastest" if you can't use it outside of larger cities.. I know its prob growing but I doubt verizon is sitting around resting..
HSPA+ is 3G technology with 4G speeds. That's what's wrong. If T-Mobile has a 3G network that can deliver 4G speeds, then obviously AT&T doesn't have the nation's fastest 3G network.
AT&T has the fastest theoretical High Speed connection. Of course, only about 20 people experience that. Everyone else is stuck on the slowest network in the US.
Unless its 100% HSPA+ then no they don't have a faster 3G network.
More importantly is HSPA+ classified as 4G speeds? AT&T doesn't seem to think so...
As for me I will defer to others who are more knowledgeable in this are but from my brief reading up on the subject I don't believe HSPA+ is 4G. Its more like an intermediary.
Therefore AT&T isn't saying anything wrong here.
Again if T-Mobile's network was mostly HSPA+ or 100% HSPA+ then they'd have the "fastest" 3G network...
There's no hating... T-Mobile's HSPA+ of 21mbps is already out here in Philly... and is currently being rolled out across the nation as I type. AT&T hasn't started their HSPA+ upgrade yet (could be wrong... but that's how I've been following it so far... open to correction, though)... so right now yes, T-mo can boast having the fastest 3G network, because... well... 21mbps is way faster than 7.2, savvy?
You started off arguement really well by blew it by saying "...bash AT&T because they have the iPhone?"
Seriously dude, leave that crap phone out of it.
As for the article, I agree. AT&T dies have the fastest network. Hands down. I have a Fuze and that thing flies. And I also won an iPhone 2G. I use it as an iPod in my car. I did pop my SIM in there a few times and even on EDGE, AT&T's speeds rival that those of VZW's 3G.
That's my personal experience on it. I've had both carriers' service. Switching to Sprint on June 4th, however. Looking forward to getting that WiMAX 4G In Tampa by Q4 2010. Yay!
@TheLondonExchange chill cuz..its only the fastest when u can get it because of their sucky ass service..i.e. "new york is not currently ready for the iphone" (nd i know the brought it back..just making a point) .. and @patz2009 he is right they do have the fastest 3g hands down..but only when available..o and to both of yall the iphone is boring..the only thing that makes it interesting is apps..which isnt the phone its the other companies that make it interesting..push all those apps to android..would u still get the iphone? if so ur just a fan boy..#Thatisall
@TheLondonExchange You were the only one who said iPhone. Get a grip, you paranoid troll, no one is attacking AT&T because of the iPhone,
they're attacking because AT&T is a hypocritical, mislabeling, over advertised, company that would rather spend its resources on commercials and law suits then fixing their coverage in the first place.
The thought of 4G speed on a phone is nice. Till you read Springs 4G avg download speeds between 4-6Mbps. I think i'll just stick with ATT's 3G and wait for them to upgrade towers.
Like you said though, even ATT's Edge is about the same as VZW's 3G. Used speedtest on both a moto droid/milestone on VZW and my iphone 3G and was consistently 2.5x faster. With VZW not even breaking the 1Mbps.
However springs unlimited tethering would be nice way to drop cable if the DL speeds were bumped up and the upload was good as well. XBL probably wouldn't work too well as of now :)
@skyblaze yes they been started upgrading their hspa network... Las Vegas has 7.2 Mbps Texas Florida and couple other places. It depends on the backhaul connection.
"I'm a college student looking for a new laptop, but almost all of my media I receive digitally. I'm looking for a laptop, not a netbook, without an optical drive, and budget sensitive. The optical drive will just be a waste of space, when I can have thinner laptop. What's out there?"

@patz2009
What seems wrong?
AT&T DOES have the fastest 3G network....its been proven time and time again.
As far as how big that network is then yes Verizon wins hands down...
Am I missing something here? or are you just another hater who wants to bash AT&T because they have the iPhone?

@the3dolla
fastest - faster than the other comparators. Anything else?
@TheLondonExchange

Except how much of T-Mobiles network is HSPA+?
Unless its 100% HSPA+ then no they don't have a faster 3G network.

@bjsguess
Yeah you're overexaggerating....typical of AT&T Haters....
I happen to get really nice speeds with them. But of course I'm just one person...
I will say though that internet on my iPhone is a million times faster than it ever was on Sprint with my HTC Touch Pro.

Biggest 3G network - Verizon
Fastest 3G network - AT&T

@skyblaze
Jesus H Christ like I just said if they had HSPA+ in most markets then I'd have no problems with them stating this claim.
I don't know the current state of the HSPA+ rollout but I'm sure its not even in 50% of their network....
So therefore I don't think they can claim that they have the fastest "3G Network"
savvy?

F###ing troll.
@dez yea..what's comparators? I guess they should say "fastest in 5% of the US" then I'd be happy.
@Kamil R
Aww yes the common hater fallback....
When you're wrong the other person = troll....
Really stop crying. You're wrong. Deal with it.

@TheLondonExchange If not a troll, then you're extremely annoying. Just stop typing. Forever.
@TheLondonExchange
You remind me of Holden in the catcher in the rye.
Is everyone 'phony' in your world? except you, one of the only innocent people in the world?
@Kamil R
Rofl! Class of '11 too? And I hate that book so much
