Harmonix teases keyboards for Rock Band 3

Harmonix hasn't been dishing out a ton of Rock Band 3 details lately apart from confirming that it'll be out this holiday season, but it just revealed a big one in the demo for Green Day: Rock Band. If that not so subtle teaser above is any indication, it looks like Rock Band 3 will be adding keyboards to the equation. Nothing more to go on than that at the moment, but we can only assume this also means that Activision will soon be hard at work on Keytar Hero, and that "Axel F" will be stuck in your head starting right.... now.
This should be interesting. I cant wait!

I think we need to start getting real instruments now and just learning to play them for realz; this is getting a tad ridiculous.

im sure theres a company that made a 6 string guitar fr playing on rockband-esque games
but really, theyre a tonne simpler than actual instruments, and require a tonne less skill to use XD
i gave up playing guitar after about 2 months, yet im still playing guitar hero everytime i have friends round :P

Don't give up. Keep trying and work hard. At the end you'll learn actual music skills, and be able to do much more than with a toy guitar. Also, you'll have a chance to meet cool ppl who also play instruments, jig, playbe play a few gigs, and perhaps have an easier time getting laid. Alcohol and recreational drugs are optional.

@AlienSix In case you're oblivious to Rock Band 3, Harmonix said they are making it more realistic and have it help you learn the real thing.

@a dumb cat You're kind of missing the point. I'll never be able to play 90% of the songs available on Rock Band [and Guitar Hero] on a real instrument but at least with the game (and the simplified instrument) I get to pretend.
@tasteskindasalty if you spent as much time playing a real instrument as you do wasting it on pretending, you might actually surprise yourself.

I feel the same way about Call of Duty. I think it's time for me to just pick up a real gun and shoot some terrorists. Or army rangers, depending on what team i'm on.

Indeed. After years of playing I can't get much past medium on guitar (better on drums for some reason). There's no way I will ever be able to play Freebird on a real guitar, but I can still pretend I am with my friends (who are much better than me).

Having only one octave of white keys would be lame. At the least they need all 13 keys in an octave, but they should do two octaves. Look at the Korg MIDI keyboard controller. It's not that big.

1. Get a REAL instrument (guitar, etc.)
2. Download a free MIDI player
3. Download free MIDI files of fave songs
4. Rock on, for REAL

1. Bought Roland TD-9K
2. Bought Seth Midi-to-RockBand module
3. Plays in Rock Band, or 'For Realz' with Rock Band Practice Mode, which strips out the Drum Track, (or on my own, or with the tracks on the TD-9k, or cd player, or...)
4. Rip practice Mode track, sans drums, and put that on my iPod touch and mix that in with my Roland
I hope this is a keyboard with only like 5 keys.
the jokes on engadget, its really the teaser for the new 'accordion hero' and its integration into rockband!!

This is probly gonna be a keyboard guitar,5 buttons for each hand.optional strumming probly enabled so you can just use it
as a guitar instead.
