Firefox Home 'coming soon' to iPhone, will sync with desktop browser
Continuous client functionality, you say? Sounds like Mozilla might be just what the doctor ordered. The company has announced that its upcoming Firefox Home app is coming soon to the iPhone. The program will sync up with your desktop client so that you can go mobile with all your browsing history, bookmarks and "the set of tabs from [your] most recent browser session" going along for the ride. Not only that, but there's an "Awesome Bar" -- Mozilla's words, not ours -- that'll let you search through everything and predict options based on the available data. While not a "full" Firefox browser, according to the blog post (with the addendum, "either technically or due to policy"), the pages still load from within the app itself. No solidified release date yet -- it's still being polished for app store submission, but Opera's luck give us hope for a smooth approval. In the meantime, you can get a quick preview in the video after the break.

Wow, keep the browsers coming.
@ChechenTDG
FireFox iPhone would be pretty darn sweet!
@ChechenTDG Thank god. Safari blows. Been using Mercury since it came out.
@metric Try Atomic Browser it's the closest thing I found to firefox on iPhone/iPad.
@ChechenTDG
Just as long as it's nothing like the WM version fennec fox..that was just awful.
@metric You should definitely try atomic web....best browser I've used
@ChechenTDG Did anyone else hear the porn moan at 0:29?
@NikAmi
Now that you pointed it out yes....
@ChechenTDG
I'm going to hold out for Internet Explorer. :P
@ChechenTDG
it's no browser, it's just some Firefox data coming off your regular PC, and the browsing capability is just safari running inside, lots of apps have that, including the engadget app
@Simba501 Definitely great, especially on iPad. Only thing I didn't like was from lack of memory, you keep getting that checkerboard when you have a few tabs open. Other than that it's tops...
@ChechenTDG
Yeah, let's just hope it doesn't suck as much as Opera did.
@JeremyBenthem I think it's a Firefox browser with a WebKit engine. At least I hope that's what it will be.
@ChechenTDG Yep, I mean with this quantity it will push developers to create faster browsers. Actually, right now my eyes are on the fennec browser. http://j.mp/android-fennec
Hot Fire!
D-Pad? is that a faceplate or actually real?
@Cydoniac Exactly what I was wondering.
If it is, THATS the big news!
It's just a vinyl sticker wrap...
@Cydoniac
looks like an iphone skin
@Cydoniac Get your own at

@Cydoniac that'd be pretty badass, actually better as in portrait orientation. Dpad on left, face buttons on right.
Love FF! Heard joystick coming soon, removeable somehow...Game on!!
What does he have on his iPhone? Is that a sticker???
@ohanmer
Who cares, its awesome.
@KlassiK Agreed.
@BecauseItsNotGoogle You're assuming Apple would approve IE for iPhone.
I hear Steve Jobs eats babies.
@Proverb He ate my baby
@Proverb
He's a vegan silly. Though I admit we don't know what he uses to fertilize his garden.
@(Unverified) Babies.... blended babies.
that is the coolest case ever
no way
This is an interesting concept, but still seems locked down.
They should do this for Android, where it would make more sense.
@JONNNathannn They are doing a full implementation of Firefox for Android.
@TSSaloic
I would still like to have something like this until Firefox for Android becomes more stable. It'd be nice to have my bookmarks when I am using a browser like Dolphin HD that actually works at the moment.
@HighestRanked2
Are you trying to get downranked?
@Steve B
An understanding of irony is why he picked the username, after all.
Does it play Doom ... errr, I mean Flash? Shucks! :(
cant wait for this!
@BecauseItsNotGoogle Oh, then you're assuming IE is good. Which would be a bad assumption.
About 2 years late, but very happy it's here at last :')
Haha, I love the sticker! :D I would actually buy one if it is functional.
I've wondered why iTunes only lets me sync bookmarks with IE ever since I got my iPhone.
Yippeeee...
Cool because I can't stand Safari.
@jawman Don't worry. Opera mini will tide you over while you wait for FF - if you haven't tried it, take it from me - it ROCKS
@xaduurv
Did you even read the article? Firefox isn't coming to the iPhone. An app that allows one to sync his bookmark's from his computer's Firefox bookmarks to mobile Safari over the air is coming to the iPhone. Beyond that fact, Opera mini is trash. It may be faster, but beyond that, it's the worse browser I've used on my Droid, and I've tried several. From what I've heard, the iPhone version is just as bad.
@BecauseItsNotGoogle
I'm really starting to get sick of seeing you on every article. You're a troll. A very stupid troll that I'm surprised can find his way around the internet.
Just please leave us all alone, cause we get your point. Microsoft's good, everything else bad.
Not bad, just a couple of hours after Josh asked for it. Alright, let me try that: "So, what we really need is an Alienware M17x that's as thin as the Adamo XPS, gets 24 hours of battery life with full system strain and costs around fifty bucks." Dell, you have three days.
@BecauseItsNotGoogle Wow, just wow. All I can surmise from your comments is you're either a high-ranking MS exec, you have a large number of MS shares and it's in your best interest to promote their stuff at every opportunity (after all the article has nothing to do with IE) or you have been hiding in a cave over the past ten years. Seriously if you need confirmation of IE's (and other wonderful MS products') suckiness just Google it. You probably made the mistake of using bing. That's why you couldn't find anything on your own and are asking us to it for you.
