Here we go with those trusted sources again.
Edge has it on good authority that Microsoft's
midlife rejuvenator for the Xbox 360, Project Natal, will cost a cool 149 bucks when purchased as a standalone accessory, or $100 when bundled together with the $199 Xbox 360 Arcade console. That's a mighty steep hill for early adopters to climb, but Microsoft did warn us that Natal
will not be an impulse buy. An October 26 date is also proffered for the official launch, but that might shift, leaving us with the same
window of expectation as before. Interestingly, the Natal name is expected to definitely change for the final retail product, which we should be learning a lot more about at
E3 in a couple of weeks.
99 and jack up the price for games. itll pay itself overtime Microsoft what are u smoking. The Sony Dildo will be priced 40 or less competing with the wii motion here.
actually if it was built in with the 360, id def buy it.
@BecauseItsNotGoogle
the device is a BIT more than just a camera. If has an interface for the system and a couple of light refracting sensors in it too.
And oh yeah...
....what the hell do u think a human eye is?
question...how do you turn on natal? do you still need the controller to turn on/off the system? voice activated power on?
also, how do you talk to people over xbox live? do you still wear your headset which is attached to your controller?
149 ...no thanx
You quoted two different prices for the Arcade/Natal combo in the headline and in the body text. Is it $199 or $299? I'm guessing the latter.
Sorry, double posting. You mean the Natal costs $149 alone, but $100 when purchased with a $199 Xbox Arcade? So the combo is $299? I think that's right now. Still, that's pretty darn expensive compared to other options.
The price is cool provided $149 != £149. The new 250GB HDD came out with a decent exchange rates so I would guess natal will be around £90; here's to hoping it comes with a game.
Why would you want a device that is connected 24/7 to the Internet and has voice and facial reconition?
The big problem Move and Natal have is that they didn't come with the system. Worse, Microsoft and Sony still aren't going to put it in the box of all systems. What are they smoking? These add-on's are dead in the water if they aren't going to take them seriously themselves. Most 360 and PS3 owners aren't going to have Natal/Move, and so their market, already smaller then the Wii, is going to be infinitesimal. You think most 3rd party games for the Wii are bad? Wait for the games they put out for Natal/Move. Only the most foolhardy of game developers are going to put even remotely significant money and/or effort into developing games for these. And it won't be long before even Microsoft/Sony give up on them - why develop games for a "system" that almost no one has?
nah even if natal was like 75 bucks i wouldn't get it, i have yet to see a even close to decent game other than wii sports that is controlled my movement.
If Natal is the most expensive out of the three Microsoft is going to loose.
(which they can afford to do).
They well need to at least match what the PS3 Move is.
They also need to throw in a full game, you might get buy with some Xbox sports or something (That you can play over live). But just buying some big black camera, with out a good game, people are going to pass on it. Even if it "super" and "way fun"
Not that I'd buy it either way, but if they do this it'll be a complete failure. Partially given that it's inferior to the PS Eye technically, and partly given that the rumors on the PS3 side of things are pointing to a bundle of the Move, the Eye, and a game all for $100.
This price is outrageous, but completely in line with Microsoft charges for WIFI adapters and replacement hard drives.
freaking epic
