@DS1495 Seems their bitter (or whatever word you'd like to use) and want out from anything Google. Which is stupid because Google is the best search engine and has great Maps and Navigation. This is a dumb choice...
Bing's live traffic is totally better. OH WAIT I mean their topographic maps are better UH I mean their sea floor maps are better WAIT THAT'S NOT IT I MEANT their bicycle route maps are better ...ER I meant their public transit maps are better JUST KIDDING I meant their...uh
Oh yeah, bird's eye view! That's it! Take that Google Maps, you suck!
I agree. At least the web search portion is clearly inferior. As a website owner I notice that Bing takes ages to index my site. The way it displays search engine results is also flawed.
@DS1495 I use both. I like Bing's background pictures and stuff. But when I want more detail search results with all the BS Bing filters out, I use Google. If this happens, Google's in for a shit show.
PS. There is a reason colleges and universities frown upon looking up research on Google. Its because of the way google brings up your search results...which really isn't as great of a way as google fans put it out to be.
Most people are stuck on Google because thats the best thing they have had in years and don't want to risk going to a different engine.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2 i don't see how the results Bing gave are any better then the Google results. But that was an easy search. Try something a little less specific as many searches are.
i searched what someone else suggested, which was search engines. And i went to the lakers thing you posted. there was no clip art. however, tigers brings up pictures of tigers, and google brings up tiger's scores. duh.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2 This is an actual search i did once when a restaurant near my house called Monk's was forced to change it;s name due to a law suit. http://www.bing.com/search?q=triple+cheese+sandwich+tharpe+st http://www.google.com/search?q=triple+cheese+sandwich+tharpe+st I was trying to find the menu and the normal search for monks was not getting me any results so I searched for a menu item and the st the resaurant is on. the new name of the restaurant is wells brothers. Notice how The first result on Google is EXACTLY what I am looking for. Not sure what bing is doing here
What? No? Bing brings up 2 wiki links, dogpile, and something "dogvista" it doesn't even bring up bing. google brings up Dogpile, Bing (yep), and then the wiki pages. its obviously superior.
K I'm an idiot. the links I posted is probably gonna give you guys totally different results then I got because of location, But try it with a restaurant near you. You'll see what i mean
I love that Google doesn't even come up on the bing search. Kind of strange given it is one of, if not thee, most visited sites on the web. Whereas bing is #2 on Google's results.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2 people would really take your opinion so much more seriously if you didn't have bing in your av. i will concede to you that bing maps is better than google maps, but this is not what the article is about. the article is talking about the double tap home screen, which is a web search. bing web search does have its advantages, but google definitely is the superior search engine.
from what i have seen from all of your posts, you are a troll. i can also tell that you have been banned once already. stop with your blatant trolling and maybe you will be able to command some respect from other commenters. i'm also fairly sure you don't know every end of how search engines work, so don't talk like you do. stop posting like everyone is attacking you. most people, like myself attack you because you, sir, are an asshole when you post.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2 "how is that "obviously superior"
obviously the search results will be slightly different, its a different algorithm. I dont think you know how search engines work."
Really? Would you care to explain then o' mighty troll?
Honestly- FUCK OFF. You wonder why Engadget closed the comments. If you need further explanation, just fucking BING "troll" and read through a couple results. Stop ruining the comment section. I wanna read what other people have to say.
like really? Are we really fighting/debating over Bling and google? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Internet connect to the same place? And both engines are quick so WTF?
@neoand12 It's the matter of principle. And the principle is, a troll is just being a prick. He purposely lacks the conscious to just agree with other companies. I don't like Apple- however, I still have an ipod. Why? Actually I don't know why. But I have one.
I actually think that the ones calling others trolls have the problem here. Just because the ones that like Bing don't agree with you!! Grow up. It's subjective. Nobody disagree with anyone because you'll be a troll. It's pathetic and it's ruining Engadget
Excellent real-world example. Popular single word topic and the results truly speak for themselves. However no engine is perfect. I find some great stuff on Wolfram too, but I'd never use that on a daily basis. Consistency is more important, and Bing isn't there yet.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2 Hmmm you do understand that your stupid single comment is already out of date. Didn't you loose you other login for exactly this? And for the "hint: one has an informative recent history of games, playable video, and looks great. the other has nearly no info and has a clip art basketball." I don't know what Bing are you looking at(maybe pre beta), but mine shows a very boring list of links with no history, no videos... Google however has what you are describing is Bing, except there is no embedded video. FYI: Those images have Laker's logos and/or are photos of them.
haha, what? no, actually their search engine results were decent, but not that interesting.
MS has given up on the Search Engine market, and tried to go after the Decision Engine market (totally BS)... by throwing a bunch of stuff at you, when you run a search.... Meh.
@abedinthehouse "PS. There is a reason colleges and universities frown upon looking up research on Google. Its because of the way google brings up your search results...which really isn't as great of a way as google fans put it out to be."
Could you elaborate? I have no idea what you mean by this. What method of bringing up search results would be better for research?

Who would ever choose Bing over Google?
@DS1495
The people who USE Bing I use Bing Maps over Google maps all the time, It truly is superior.
@DS1495 What has two thumbs and would choose Bing over Google? This guy!
@DS1495 Seems their bitter (or whatever word you'd like to use) and want out from anything Google. Which is stupid because Google is the best search engine and has great Maps and Navigation.

@DS1495 Me!

@Becauseitsnotgoogle2
Yeah, because everyone is going to take your opinion seriously based on your previous posts.
Troll, troll, troll your boat...
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2 i don't see how the results Bing gave are any better then the Google results. But that was an easy search. Try something a little less specific as many searches are.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2
interesting. i tried my own variation, and searched "tigers" since i am a detroit tigers fan and am currently in detroit for the weekend. check the results:
http://www.google.com/search?q=tigers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
http://www.bing.com/search?q=tigers&go=&form=QBLH&qs=n&sk=
did google automatically pick the detroit tigers because of my location? I wonder if the results would be different if i was back in chicago?
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2

@jawman
don't know how i managed to double post. user error, sorry :P
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2
Bing's searches were clearly not better (not to me at least)
Look, I am not a Google fanboy, but I really do prefer the layout and look of Google, that's just my opinion. Are you going to try and stop me?
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2

@Becauseitsnotgoogle2
No, I do know. It's pretty obvious that google's algorithm is better than bing's.
@DS1495
I'm waiting for the Ask Jeeves app.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2
Bing doesn't do well with technical searches, or anything that is more rare or harder to find. Microsoft even admits this:

@techee44
I love that Google doesn't even come up on the bing search. Kind of strange given it is one of, if not thee, most visited sites on the web. Whereas bing is #2 on Google's results.
@DS1495 I get better search results with Bing. Downrank if you want but that's what I see.
The things some of the users on this site argue about blows my mind.
@Becauseitsnotgoogle2

@Becauseitsnotgoogle2
hahahaha google sucks
@bnekic
here's my opinion
http://www.bing.com/search?q=melvyn+goodale+papers%2c+eye%2c+vision&go=&filt=all&qs=AS&sk=AS1&pq=melvyn+goodale+papers%2c+eye%2c+vision&sp=2&first=1&FORM=PERE
by the time i get to the 5th page, i start getting stuff completely unrelated to my search, and only 500 results anyways
http://www.google.com/#q=melvyn+goodale+papers,+eye,+vision&hl=en&safe=off&start=50&sa=N&fp=c82b9c70e0ce1b77
38,000 results, and even up to the 13th page or more, i am getting relevant results.
google imo, is where it is at.
