iPad "killers" for everytime i hear that IThing "KILLER" tag i should get a 10er and i would be as rich as Steve Jobs by now.
Btw when will these companies get that introducing half baked and not working or badly working products doesn't really shine a great light on the company introducing this crap ..
@Eastman hope for the same amount every time any new gadget is called an older gadget killer and you'd have more than apple itself probably, it's just a lazy phrase bloggers and journalists feel the need to overuse for some weird reason.
@Eastman its computex, so basically companies are showing off what theyre going to offer over the year as this will be released before the next computex it makes sense to get people excitement now rather than wait and have to do all the advertising yourself :P
How can i get excited about stuff thats not working ? rather do a keynote and show it off and dont let people fuss about with it .. My interest is fading fast when i read or see this kinda thing ..
as if its hard work to get people excited with something cool .. and looking at it it "could" be cool .. but thats it ..
@Eastman a lot of the things their probably arent working, a lot of them are probably just concepts atm too this isnt really a trade show but a place where the cool tech companies show off their e-penises in real life ;P
@HoldenMccrotch I totally agree with you. Nowadays fairs aren't the same as they used to be. You cannot expect the companies to show and immediately sell. The consumer demands more. The consumer demands even shorter life cycles than they already are. The consumer becomes more and more impatient for no good reason. And so the companies are forced to show off prototypes just to keep them happy.
Do a keynote? The only keynote the media covers are Apple's and possibly MS.
Other tech companies don't exactly have rabid fans posing as press trying to break down their door. The things that work for Apple won't work for other companies simply because if it does get reported, it'll be a page 50 story buried between 1-900 number ads.
Most other companies don't have the luxury of hundreds of millions of dollars of free advertising. Something like computex is a good venue to start early.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
