PlayStation 3's first 3D title updates coming June 10th to Japan

Good news / bad news, folks. First with the smiles: PlayStation 3's first 3D-enabling updates are due out on June 10th for downloadable titles Super Stardust HD, WipEout HD, and Pain. The first two games get the added dimension for gratis, but Pain lovers (who should be accustomed by now to its abundant premium add-ons) will need to fork over ¥300 (approximately $3.28) for the benefit. The other stickler is that these updates are so far only announced for Japan -- and by merit of a Bravia promotion, Europe as well. So what's a North American gamer with a penchant for wearing special glasses to do? Keep waiting, true believers.

I really can't wait for 3D gaming and now that I've seen some of it I'm really glad i bought a PS3. I've been a Nintendo junkie pretty much all my life so to step out into the Playstation world felt like sacrilege, but I think the possibilities are really exciting. I'm a fan of the archery game on Wii resort and if I had that with the Move controllers, 1080p AND with added depth in 3D (glasses or not) I will be one stoked mother effer. I really find it odd that there is so much bashing of the new tech because I for one can not WAIT until it applies to desktop interfaces and computer processing in general. For those ashamed of the glasses... get some self confidence or self esteem or whatever else it takes to enjoy something without worrying about how you look.

Ok, heres something I dont understand.

To my eye 2d 1080p is fare superior than 3d 1080p ;)

1080p 3d vs 1080p 2d?

Since 3d will be using probably say half the pixels for the left eye effect and the other half for the right eye.
You will be left with 1080p that looks like 720p quaility?

So 1080p 2d is way better picture quaility!

So 3d TV's and devices would need to use 3840 X 2160 pixel resoultion to achieve 1080p picture quaility.

So that means If you bought a 3d TV now you would need to buy another 1 again???
That has say 2160p compatible 3d TV.

Ps. this a question, if just what I feel.

It actually is full 1080p to each eye. Well in Wipeout's case it is only 720p because of the extra over head to render the extra frames.

Though I will agree 2D 1080p is better than 3D because I hate wearing glasses and I'm not crazy about the 'effect'.
