Steve Jobs to be interviewed at the D conference... and we'll be there live
Hey guys, just in case you didn't know, there's a crazy party going on this week out on the West Coast... a little something called D: All Things Digital. D (or D8 this time around) is a pretty wild schmoozefest, where the cream of the crop hobnob and trade secrets -- but it's also a place where major news sometimes happens. One of the folks speaking at the event (besides Steve Ballmer, Mark Zuckerberg, and a slew of other major players) is a gentleman who goes by the name of Steve Jobs (he works at Apple). We're thinking he might have something fairly interesting to say, and if you didn't end up with a seat at the conference, that's okay -- we'll be there to bring you the news as it happens.
Things kick off around 6PM PT tomorrow (that's June 1st), so check out our liveblog landing page right here for the main event.
Note: We will -- of course -- be doing live coverage of other big names at the event, including Steve Ballmer (you can see our encounter with him last year over here). Stay tuned for announcements!

@zoltan / sshating
Wow. Just wow.
@Johnny Rockets
Like anyone honestly believes that johnny.
You want Steve Jobs dead just like the rest of the Apple Haters. Such hatred for someone whos done absolutely nothing to deserve it.
If you're a dev and you don't like Apple's rules then go somewhere else and play. He doesn't care. More importantly he won't miss you.
If you're a consumer and don't like his system or way of doing things again no one is forcing you to buy Apple Products.
However his products DO satisfy your average consumer and they have always pleased me. So I will continue to buy whatever I want from Apple so long as it does what I need/want it to do. And I'll continue to defend Engadgets right to report on whatever news they feel is important. Regardless of whether its Apple or not.
.......
@TheLondonExchange
Quit crying
You guys wanna know something crazy?
I tried the iPad a friend bought me.. and..
Its actually pretty.. THICK!
But i love it :)
@uckApple
Its heavy and a fairly useless product too. Product being a really kind word for that device.
@TheLondonExchange
So I directed that "Bing" Microsoft fanboy/anti Google guy towards the highway traffic, and then did the same to his incarnation.
What do we do about this guy?
@kapanak He's so out there isn't he. Its ridiculous. Hoping for them to ban him sometime soon. Wishing Steve Jobs were dead? WOW. He has just taken fanboyism to a whole new level with that one.
Shouldn't this be "Breaking"?
@Johnny Rockets
No yesterdays post about vaccine for breast cancer will start testing on humans and 1 step closer to bringing an end to such a devastating disease should've been breaking news, not a guy who owns a major company
@JonnyB
You missed the post where Steve Jobs speaking at his own company's annual conference was breaking news.
@Johnny Rockets
And? How does that relate to this or the post i was referring to?
Josh: I want the truth!!!!!
Steve Jobs: YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!
Son, we live in a internet that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by Apple restrictions. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Nilay? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Jason Chen, and you curse Apple. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That searching Chen's home, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives . You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at developer conferences, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like Revolutionary, Quality and Think Different. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent creating something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very innovation that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a magic mouse, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
@Johnny Rockets I honestly don't have any problem with the way they are reporting on this. Yes, they singled Jobs out in the title but he is a major player. I actually like this post better because it broke from the usual boring blah blah blah uninteresting factual blog posts.
@Son Goku LMFAO .. Now that was classic looool
@Son Goku Your comment must be archived.
@Son Goku
The Jason Chen thing? Really?
You understand Jason Chen committed up to THREE felonies, right? And that it was the police, not Apple, that searched his house?
Do you even understand that it's illegal to commit felonies? Sometimes I wonder, with the average Apple hating troll's intelligence levels here. If Jason Chen punched himself in the face, would you blame that on Apple too? I can totally see you blaming that on Apple.
@Johnny Rockets
Well you will LIVE there where S Jobs is taking leak, too. Of course you will be LIVE! This is Apple.
@Marbles
Yes, it should be archived, that way when I have the ambition to actually read a post that long that is nothing more than an attempt at humor, I can dig it up.
I love these types of event coverages. =]
@ThatDudeSolo
Absolutely! Tons of pics, tons of info and loads of witty comments, love it!
@ThatDudeSolo
does this mean that jobs will be on stage twice in a week pretty much? i imagine all the big news is going to happen at wwdc? or have i got this all completely wrong? how come i hadn't heard about this event earlier?
@safe travels Im honestly not sure. I'm pretty sure next Monday will be the talk of the new iphone but as a lover of all things tech I enjoy such coverage events to see what new things are brought to the table or just discussed. Guess we both have to wait until tomorrow =[
@safe travels Seems like this might have been the event Ballmer and Steve would be at unlike WWDC, which was rumored.
I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that he's gonna introduce iPhone 4g???
@Densta0607 Ima take a shot in the light and say he's not
Can someone buy that man a belt, plz????
@TsaxmafiaReturns
And a Windows 7 burger
@TsaxmafiaReturns
belts are for people who don't have perfectly custom tailored jeans. Really, what would be the point for him?
@beachballofdeath You deserve to be knighted by the Burger King. Bravo. xD
You would think that someone with Steve's money would have a fashion coordinator to tell him he should wear a belt and a shirt that he's not swimming in.
@ObsceneJesster Bill Gates was once the richest man in the world ... and yet he still looked like he was wearing his Grandfathers clothes ...
@ObsceneJesster
You think some gender confused he-she knows how to dress like a billionaire more than an actual billionair?
Does your scarf always come in rainbow?
The only thing he ever has to say is "resistance is futile, you will be assimilated "
Im excited for this. Is there going to be a live video feed?
@d4mi4n
I second this, a live feed at these types of events would be sweet.
I do appreciate the liveblog however though, don't get me wrong ;]
Wasn't it announced that Steve Jobs is being interviewed by Kara Swisher? If true, she is highly annoying, but I'm looking forward to hear what Jobs has to say.
@N900 She is unfortunately... Here's that video: http://video.allthingsd.com/video/bill-gates-and-steve-jobs-at-d5-full-session/60C4F9FA-9AD5-4D04-8BB6-015AEBB1C052
@derekdevine Oh yuck, she didn't have anything funny to say. Just kept butting in. =P
Post got deleted, kinda weird. *shrugs*
awesome! looking forward to it.
Umm.. we're only getting a liveblog from Steve's interview?
Not from Ballmer or Zuckerburg..
Of course there's no bias on engadget!
*queue downranks*
@nicksilvestri Who said we weren't liveblogging those? Oh right... no one. We're covering everything we can that's pertinent to our users, so definitely Ballmer -- maybe Zuckerberg. Not a lot of gadget news there.
@Joshua Topolsky
Why is the title "Steve Jobs to be interviewed at the D conference... and we'll be there live"
Instead of "Steve Ballmer and Steve Jobs to be interviewed at the D conference... and we'll be there live"
Simple question. ;)
@Johnny Rockets
Steve Balmer doesnt give 'sample' computers to 'test' to gadget sites ?
@beachballofdeath No, he just comes on our shows.
@Johnny Rockets Do you think you could troll a little harder? Bring something constructive and intelligent to the conversation, or don't hit submit.
@zomg0t Well feel free to plunge the depths of whatever conspiracy you've got going -- we just don't have the schedule for anyone else yet.
@Joshua Topolsky
Huh? I don't understand how that's trolling. Two fairly huge important figures at a conference. I'm sure there are a ton of people who read Engadget that would be just as interested in Ballmer's interview as Steve Jobs' (if not more so).
@Johnny Rockets There's a recent sidenote in the article that states they'll be covering Ballmer and other big names. So there ya go.
@Joshua Topolsky Thank you for updating this site at 10 PM on Memorial Day and for dealing with ungrateful people that act like they're 12. I can only imagine how frustrated you must get. There are many of us...call us the silent majority....that rarely post because we don't see the need to argue or profess our unhealthy love or hatred for products or companies. We see no bias and enjoy the great work you do.
