Sony confirms ten free game offer for UK PSP Go buyers, North America gets less awesome deal
Well, we've got some good news and some less good news for potential PSP Go owners. The good news is that Sony has now officially announced the ten free game offer for PSP Go buyers in the UK, which is just as we had heard and is available in quite a few countries besides the UK as well (hit up the link below for the complete list). Not among those, however, is the United States or Canada, which is where the less good news comes in. While Sony has also announced a similar promotion for US and Canadian consumers, it only covers folks that buy a PSP Go starting today (not anyone that bought one after April 1st, as in the UK), and you'll only be getting three free games, not ten -- those include LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3. What gives? We're not entirely sure, but the only other incentive Sony is offering for North America is a new line of "Favorites" titles that will be priced at $9.99 apiece.

good for them! Now what are these titles at 9.99?
@pastorbob nevermind:
Initial Favorites games will include:
•Ape Escape: On the Loose
•Buzz! Master Quiz
•Hot Shots Golf Open Tee
•LocoRoco 2
•Patapon 2
•PixelJunk Monster Deluxe
•SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo
•Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow
•Twisted Metal: Head On
@pastorbob
HURRY! LOCO ROCO 2 IS CHEAPER THAN THAT RIGHT NOW!
@pastorbob
I still wouldn't buy one, even if they brought that offer here.
Already replaced my first PSP with the PSP Slim...
Wake me up when a new PSP comes out with next-gen hardware not just re-designed current-gen.
What a jip..
@Mr Blue
Check the US and UK price of PSP go, and then complain what a jip...
@newone
Agreed..
ENGADGET! You've made an error.
Europe get's to choose ONE game out of ten. WE get THREE in the US.
@APV
it's 10 pre-selected games. Not 1 out of 10.
pasted from PSN UK.
7. Following download of the PSPTMgo Promotion Theme, eligible persons will receive a PSN promotion code that can be redeemed for 10 pre-selected downloadable games. Details of these games can be found at eu.playstation.com/pspgopromotion. The list of games may be amended from time to time by the Promoter at its sole discretion.

Engadget is correct.
@ecsw
Well that makes no sense. WHY would they give away free games that combined cost the same if not more than the console itself?
I still believe that it is one out of ten, considering that's what everything else says compared to the scantly worded rules on that page.
@APV The games are digital copies, they don't lost any money at all by giving them away for free. Common sense, really.
@APV Because the actual cost of making those copies for each buyer is $0?
@Ridgecity @SarnGate
Then why are new PC games that I download still $49? I could be getting it for free from them but that makes no sense. Developers would never do that... o_O
Exactly.
@Ridgecity
Actually Sony still has to pay the game developers.
@SarnGate Do people really believe that digital content costs nothing to produce or distribute? THIS is the thinking that causes us to be burdened by DRM. Because people can't seem to understand that non-physical goods are still real goods and they can't just be doled out without cost to someone.
Looks like the PSP Go is selling better in North America!
Can anybody confirm or deny HOW we get the three free games? My PSP is just about spent, and it's time to replace it. Do I have to find a PSP with that packaging, or can I pick up one of the ones that have been sitting at Wal*Mart for a year, and still get the deal?
@m1kepro
You register it after today and get an email with codes to download the games. Any PSPgo will do. The codes aren't packaged with games. The box now just displays that you can get free games rather than the rockband lite thingy.
@APV
Good to know. The local Wal*Mart has them knocked $50 off to make them more palatable.
@APV
I got my PSPgo for $169.99 at BestBuy.
Dell.com had the sale but I printed it and brought it to BestBuy, where they honor the prices... Good deal.
I just need to register mine now... I am eligible for this deal. ;)
@APV
because PSP GO were not selling well anywhere.
we might not be able to get it. Someone mentioned in PSN forum that once you log on to PSN, your device is automatically registered.
but I would think it's only if you physically register your serial number that counts for the eligibility.
We will see tomorrow.
Huh.
Will you ever learn Sony?
They will have new bundle. But if you buy the existing bundle out of retailer, then you can register and get the code for free.
@summerboy18
I rather learn english.
@summerboy18
a ipad is not for games.
Like putting a cherry on a turd.
this pretty much tells u that theyre trying to get rid of psp go so they can go ahead and push psp2 later this fall after e3 announcement.
PSP Go = Fail.
'nuff said.
Downrank me all you want for this, but IMO it's the truth.
@guitarkid
I actually agree....
So *upranks* :D
@guitarkid
I actually love it. It just costs a fortune.
Could you please elaborate on why exactly the PSPgo isn't any good?
I kinda like the offer of 10 free games and am considering buying one.
I'd like to know if there are any big problems with it.
@Frank A Hmm... Doesn't read UMD's nor supports memory cards. I think that's enough for it to be crappy. You can only buy games for it if you have a credit card/paypal account, and piracy is no more on this thing. So yeah, fail.
Well, none of these shortcomings bother me much, so I guess I'm good to go.
It's too bad the screen is smaller than the original one, I guess it makes the device more portable.
@magallanes Nope an iPad isn't for games, but an iTouch is. That's why the iTouch doesn't have a built in camera....oh wait...
Too bad, with a 10-free games promotion, I would probably have picked one up.
Does Sony hate the US? Seriously no playtv and no awesome deal. What gives?
What the hell Sony? What about us people who spent our hard earned money in 2009?
It's really annoying I bought my pop go on the 31st of March. Seriously, they couldn't have had the deal back then, but now?
I smell a psp 2 round the corner...
If only they made psp 2 running android.
@anotherworld
In typical Sony fashion, it will run a closed version of Android that's supplied on a Memory Stick Pro Droid and to sync it you have to use an iLink cable, whilst saving photos makes use of Mavica floppy discs.
Best of all it'll only play Atrac3 through its Walkman function.
MEGA BASS!
Why do they write 16 GB/GO ?
What does GO stand for? Why does gigabyte have a different word in another language?
Trying to move as many PSP Go's as they can before announcing the PSP2 at E3...
Who would buy this, especially when the PSP 3000 Big Boss bundle is coming out soon.
Buy Fat Princess game people! It is adorably addictive.
PSP Go? Bleh. PSP 2001 + CFW FTW.
PSP Go = Shake Weight of the protable gaming world...
portable, even...
