It is funny, my first proper cell phone was with at&t (remember the rokr?). I have had them since june 2006. I was happy initially, but once the iphone came it just became ugh. I realize i am paying too much for my cell phone. Currently I have a samsung impression (worst os on a phone ever, had to replace it phone is a piece of crap and i will never buy anything samsung made again). I have 450 mins a month, unlimited texting and with taxes i pay about $75-80 a month -_- ... I will be making the switch to tmobile. No longer will i be bound to this crappy network. I live in NYC and I NEVER have 3g no matter where i am. Sorry at&t as soon as i get payed, I will unlock my phone and use it for $40 a month on tmobile (service is pretty good here in nyc). If not, I'll be switching to sprint (evo 4g)... Top it off with their nasty holier than thou attitude!
Yes, my first cell phone was the Motorola Rokr. I was a star in the hood that summer. Nobody in my area had the phone and it could sync with iTunes. I never had a cell phone before that. Your not too old homey. This was back in 2006 (oh yeah I had just started college too hahaha).
Is us. At least that is what your customer services reps tell me. Yet you will give people a cease and desist order if they email you a couple times? Perhaps you should LISTEN to the "best part of AT&T" and you probably wouldn't be getting the emails you are now, huh?
@Mike Vick switch to sprint man. I had att n tmobile. N I can tell you. Att sucks. They charge to much n the 3G service blws... Tmobile is alright. But you knw... This days cellphnes are ment to be used for more then just tlking. That's all I'm saying. But dam! Sprint. Unlimited everything for 69.99. That's was up. I got a tether up on my palm. I dnt knw how I did it but this month I managed to pass the 5GB line on my data usage... Greatest part. No cap n no extra charge
What do you expect from a company that just introduced a tethering charge AND removed unlimited data? It seems to me you should only be allowed to do one or the other. I understand that people who tether will likely put a higher load on AT&T's network so a more expensive unlimited plan may be warranted, but if you're capping the data then it doesn't matter whether the endpoint is the phone or the tethered machine. Unfortunately AT&T isn't the only company doing this....
@MoreGoogleAds I sent an email to the CEO of AT&T back in September and got a similar treatment. I was asked not to contact the CEO. Apparently he's beyond the realm of mere mortal and doesn't deserve to be bothered with menial things such as addressing customer concerns.
@Dig Deep Talk about proving that someone is out of touch with it's customer. No wonder I feel like my complaints about my cell phone dropping every day while driving by the Pentagon and along GW Parkway never get answered...
Wow, look at that smile. Looks like he's trying to hide his fangs with his lower lip. Definitely looks like a forced smile on a face that doesn't quite know what is smile is supposed to be...
@Eli Haj you mean to Steve Job's salary? No, Steve Jobs does in fact have a salary of $1 per year as CEO of Apple. His entire fortune comes from his stock in Apple and Disney.
@John H Lol forget those new charges for tethering and newly limited data plans, what about that damn increase in the ETF from like $175 to $320+ (they can eat a dick)
@John H Uh... it never had unlimited data, just a silent 5GB cap they made public, kinda like how Comcast did with their "unlimited" internet & 250GB cap
Fair enough. In that case I think it's pretty lame that they introduced a 16% drop in data plan pricing with a 60% drop in amount of allotted data. It's strange how voice minutes have become dirt cheap over time while data seemed to have a brief period where it was getting cheaper (and still is on other carriers) and is now all of a sudden spiking back up.
@SLINC The only problem with this is that AT&T has gained more customers than anyone in the last year and has the least amount of churn out of any company. I doubt this will do anything to change that right now.
@Dig Deep I'm guessing engadget didn't post his e-mail to avoid having AT&T's legal team sicced on them when "the internets" read this blog...pretty sure it's not gonna matter though. I suspect that Mr. Stephenson is about to get quite a bit of e-mail from people who don't give a rat's behind about cease and desist letters.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Dang chill out dude...
Who's emailing AT&T? I'm sending my wrath to that Hurd bastard from HP.

@Dig Deep
Shame on AT&T
@Dig Deep
i would rip his email address to shreds from across the pond given half a chance :)
@Smart People Play Tuba
hahahah you know what we should all do?
We should ALL email these people (or guy, wasnt paying too much attention) and just keep emailing them..
HAHAHATHATWOULDBEHILARIOUS!
If you're an AT&T customer in the first place, you blew it.
@Dig Deep
Why is he still wearing a mask? It's not Halloween!
@uckApple
randall [dot] stephenson [at] att [dot] com, i found it on yahoo answers :D

Sorry, just my rant.
@Mike Vick Fuck...your first phone was a ROKR?!?! Man, I am getting old.
Eh...There's probably lots more the guy isn't telling people he said in the emails.
@MoreGoogleAds
yeah, and some people copy them...those "son of a bitch liars"
@tbtregenza

@Dig Deep
People, people... he makes way too much money to respond to emails. Jobs only makes $1 a year. This guy makes $18 mil.
@Dig Deep
And.....this is the difference between a CEO that wants to take your money in exchange for great products.....
...and a CEO that just wants to take your money.
@Dig Deep
I just emailed him even though ATT is not my carrier, just wanted to get a quick laugh at their expense :)
Sent this to his email and direct..

Enjoy the onslaught.
Sincerely,
The Best Part of AT&T!
@benwb
Let's all email him and call him a douche.
@Mike Vick Ahh man that was my first hip phone. Prior to this one i was all up on windows mobile.
You just brought back memories.
@Eli Haj, please excuse my language, but... He looks like an, EVIL MUTHER@%&%@#. This is a clear sign the CEO of At&t does not get it.

I hate AT&T.
@MoreGoogleAds
threats foe wat? Better service an awful service yet bumping up their prices?
@Mike Vick LOL, i remember my freshman year in college, fall of 99. it was the nokia 51xx series that everyone was carrying around
http://www.mobilesdata.com/images/big/Nokia/5110.jpg
Now I carry around an HD2, my how far we've come!
@Dig Deep
CEO need to not think he is above what ultimatly got him there: THE CUSTOMER
Loss in Customers = Replacement of CEO's
@saddam3
I think that your keyboard is broken or missing a third of the letters. I am bleeding from the ear after trying to read your post.
@MoreGoogleAds I sent an email to the CEO of AT&T back in September and got a similar treatment. I was asked not to contact the CEO. Apparently he's beyond the realm of mere mortal and doesn't deserve to be bothered with menial things such as addressing customer concerns.
@SLINC
Why would a CEO worry about being replaced when, even if he drives the company into the ground, he'll get a multimillion dollar payoff to leave?
@Dig Deep Talk about proving that someone is out of touch with it's customer. No wonder I feel like my complaints about my cell phone dropping every day while driving by the Pentagon and along GW Parkway never get answered...

@Dig Deep At least he didn't have the cops come and take the computer out of his house like the Dark Lord of Cupertino.
@Dig Deep
Unless you are actually harassing him, I don't see how a cease-and-desist letter could be upheld. Two e-mails in two weeks is hardly harassment.
Good, jackass customers need to stop thinking theyll get what they want by continuing to go up the chain of command.
They need to realize the higher ups have told the lower downs what to do/give
The customer is always an asshole
I'm forwarding this to sjobs@apple.com
@John H Uh... it never had unlimited data, just a silent 5GB cap they made public, kinda like how Comcast did with their "unlimited" internet & 250GB cap

@MoreGoogleAds I'm inclined to agree with moregoogleads. Though if true it's outrageous.
@Dig Deep
he looks soo greedy in the photo lol!
@Mister Warmth I am starting to think you are right!

@d0ug:
The 5110s are built like tanks. Awesome mobile phones.

HA! I was going to say he looks like Jack Nicholson as The Joker!

@Mike Vick No 3G anywhere in NYC? Complete lie.
