Dell Streak: $500 unlocked in US, available next month
We've just learned at D8 today that Dell will be offering the Streak to US customers direct from its website -- unlocked -- starting next month for $500. That's later than the June 4 date that UK customers will be enjoying, but it's earlier than it could've been -- Dell had merely been giving "later this Summer" guidance previously. More on this as it develops!

@malexandria1
The problem I think is that you went on contract, if you ever go to a carrier with your own device, you should go month to month so you can leave at anytime afterwards.
I can't wait, I really wanna get my hands on this thing!!!
Tmobile unlimited voice, data, and txt w/o a contract is about $70/mo after taxes and fees. I have that now. On a phone that doesn't support 3G. And there is a AWS version of the streak in the works. Maybe it will be out in July, maybe not. Either way, I'm buying the Streak in July for my bday, and if they later release the 3G one, I'll ebay it and grab the tmobile version.
Frankly, between all the gadgets my iphone obsoleted when I got it, and the streak will obsolete when I get it, after selling that stuff on ebay, I will be pretty close to breaking even. For those who complain about the price - just how many phones do you have? I get a new one, and sell my other stuff. Usually, it tends to work out. I've yet to go over a $100 differential whenever I replace phones.
As for those who complain about the size - I don't care. I'm a big guy. My regular pants pockets more than fit the Streak. I cannot wait!
wonder if I can pick this up from o2 in the UK without messing up my contract
Yay!!! Huge mobile phones are back. The type one has to carry round in a bag.

I would just love plain ole 2.2
The Dell UI is actually PLAINER'er than the regular Froyo.

@VGPOP I think so but I don't know. I have seen the Evo 4G (at least the mockup) in the stores and its FINE as far as size is concerned. But the Streak is quite a bit bigger again. More comparable to a small paperback book than anything else. I'm going to need to see one in person, which Dell may find most people want to do with something like this. Which won't work if they only sell it from the web store (as Google discovered with the N1). If its a phone it has to fit in my pockets. Maybe I could carve a fake one out of soap or something...
Hehe, yeah.. Only need to switch
from the left to the right cheek to get a perfect tan! Is there anything this phone can't do?! ;)
uh... you leave me in an uncofortable position... Dell streak or MyTouch Slide.... the streak is a bit too rich for my blood... darnations. I wanna go to college with a laptop... perhaps i don't need a real keyboard to do my homework and i can settle or the streak. For now. Dell made my first gaming computer and google doesn't suck at kicking apple's arse.
Honestly, its nice, but i can't justify spending $500 on this like i can with the Nexus One. This isn't running a stock build of Android, from what i can see, so it won't be updated as quickly as the N1. Of course, not being Google's baby is another reason for that.
The 5 inch screen on this thing is nice, but too big for a phone.
$500 for seven inches??? I don't know... iPad sounds better.
@jecole that's what she said
What... 513.-EUR in UK and 406.-EUR in US ?
Dosnt sounds fair.
Question: Can this work on T mobile's prepaid network?
People, this thing isn't THAT big. If you have an iPhone, pick it up for a moment. From the bottom left corner to the top right, is almost exactly five inches. Add a quarter or third of an inch to each corner for the bezel and you're looking at this phone. Not incredibly drastic now is it? It would be amazing to have a phone whose screen was the size of the entire face of an iPhone. When you put the size into visual perspective, it's not a bad thing.
Yeah its wounderfull mobile i like to buy it and check out latest mobiles prices at much more mobile Classified also at mobile2u.com.pk
Why is everyone making such a fuss over the price? This is cheaper then the Nexus One, for example, which is $30 more when unlocked.
So how much does adding a 3g radio cost? 12 dollars or something like that?
Wow, I am impressed. That is looking mighty good dude.

To be clear then this is the price for the 3g model yes ? So the wifi only one should drop in at something south of 300 dollars most likely. The wait begins.
Get over the size guys. It's a niche product and will fit perfectly in the uses that most people will buy it for. If it's not for you, then just shuddup!
The Nexus One is $ 529 and this is double the size, yet cheaper.
How the heck?
buying it anyway...time to start saving those pennies..
AMEN!!
