Hm, wonder how many quotes from Ballmer will get their own articles? Someday, I hope we can complain that a non-apple company gets too much coverage :)
@DirtyVegas .. How about you actually think about why Engadget had separate articles:
> On TV: 'no one wants to buy a box' Interesting opinion on Google TV given that
> On Foxconn: 'We're all over this' One of the biggest and concerning news stories of the last few weeks and was widely covered on mainstream news sites.
> On lost iPhone 4G prototype: it's an 'amazing' story Again big news of the last few weeks that was on mainstream news sites.
> iPhone OS 'started on a tablet' Interesting as everyone just said the iPad was a giant iPod touch. When it fact it is the reverse.
> 'There might be' advantages to two iPhone carriers in US Probably more important for iPhone customers in the US than a new iPhone or 4.0 release.
Now. YOUR TURN. Which topics from Ballmer's session would you like Engadget to split out into separate articles ? Please enlighten us.
@taligent as i see it its not that ballmer didnt get enough attention, but that these interviews are seemingly biased all of the questions to the microsoft people seemed to just be asking about apple or comparing msft to apple whereas they ask apple about what theyre doing etc and showing each meaningless point as a separate important article
@HoldenMccrotch Engadget != D8. Go complain to them if you think it is biased.
It's just crap to keep hearing people like DirtyVegas bitch about Engadget every single, god damn time there is an Apple article. Despite the fact that there were 20 posts for Google IO and how many posts on Microsoft tablets in the last two days.
@HoldenMccrotch I would agree that the questions were a bit lacking, but then again, what is there to ask about? The only real interesting things coming out of Microsoft lately are the things that are no longer coming out of Microsoft like Courier. And they did kind of ask about that shake up.
There really just isn't a whole lot of interesting news surrounding Microsoft at this point. They had a ray of sunlight with Courier and WP7, but the cancellation of one and long lead time of the other has them back to being a boring stagnant company.
@taligent maybe if they just tried to be a bit less biased it might help, i cannot think of questions to ask him, however im sure that if i was given the time to research more things about msft i could come up with some better ones than 'steve jobs says your battery life sucks, what are you doing about this?' and 'i like the ipad, do you like the ipad?' (i know, these questions werent directly asked but to me its just the same...)
Ballmer more or less called the Kin a failure. Don't think I've heard that before. And his responses about the future of computing devices didn't seem to communicate a very clear vision of the future.
If I am interpreting his growls properly, there is some serious restructuring going on, and the future of Microsoft involves an intensified focus on platforms and a serious curtailment of hardware development.
When are you going to come out with a enterprise ready operating system? OS X isn't. If it was corporate america would have gobbled it up by now.
When are you going to come out with a enterprise ready email application?
When are you going to come out with a enterprise ready database system?
When with Apple OS whatever be capable of running Oracle, DB2, SQL anything?
When will Apple release a enterprise ready collaborative platform that can connect the entire enterprise together with integration into desktop and enterprise ready applications?
Yeah I know, these are all business related items. Something Apple gave up on because they cannot compete. They can give shiny consumer toys to people who don't have the neurons to use an actual business and scientific tools. If you actually new anything about technology you would realize reading the NY Times and listening to the latest Black Eyed Peas song at your corner Starbucks is not ground breaking.
The N9 has arrived. What we can say from our first experience is that we're in the presence of a fantastically designed device with a gorgeous AMOLED screen and some highly responsive performance.

A man can only dream!
@DirtyVegas
So you'd prefer to have the same number of articles, regardless of whether or not they have anything to say?
@omf
Nah, I wasn't very serious. I was about to reply that TBH, wasn't much to take from his talk. But that's the same I felt about Jobs too.
@DirtyVegas
But he did have some candid thoughts on China, his competitors and more. Pretty sure they would have warranted articles if it was Jobsian wisdom.
@DirtyVegas
have you seen all the eBoy coverage?
obscene, i tell you.

@DirtyVegas: you're dreaming of a site that offers extensive *Ballmer* coverage? Seriously???
@taligent

@HoldenMccrotch
I thought this was a pretty revealing interview.

That would be a significant change.
@taligent
I have some questions for Apple.
