Huawei S7 runs 1GHz Snapdragon and Android 2.1 like a champ (video)
Another small mystery, solved. We caught a glimpse of Huawei's relatively undercover S7 tablet back in March, but little was known about what would actually power the device and what operating system would be pre-installed. Here at Computex, we learned the facts on both of those points. Sitting pretty at Qualcomm's booth, the S7 was shown boasting a 1GHz MSM8250 Snapdragon processor, and our hunting around in the settings confirmed that Android 2.1 was loaded onboard. The Qualcomm reps didn't have any other hard specifications available on the 7-incher (beyond those that we already knew), but we were able to spot a volume rocker, internal speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, USB connector and a fancy kickstand around back for sitting a spell and watching multimedia. During our time with the device, we instantly fell in love with the depressible side buttons, and the capacitive resistive touchscreen was as responsive as they come. The whole thing felt speedy and light enough for our liking, and frankly, it was easily one of our favorite tablets at the entire show. We're still no closer to nailing down a price or release date, but at least you now know it's worth your while to keep an eye out for both. Vid's after the break.

@joe23521
no.. you say it Wah-Way.. evidently
The champ is here... The champ is here...
@DigitalDali
Isn't 7 inches pushing it??
(and no, that's not what she said because she was on conscious)
@Plazmic Flame 7 isnt that big....(referring to the joke) just saying...
Cool, now I can call The HULK.
@mrpixel
You don't have to use it like a phone. Use it like a tablet with internet capability wherever your mobile service provider has coverage. Use it as a video chat device, with that front facing webcam and kickstand. Use it to text friends or send out an e-mail, just like you would with a computer, which a tablet is somewhat designed to replace.
Just because it can make phone calls doesn't mean you have to hold it to your head.
I didn't think it was all that big until the person picked up a Dell Streak which is 5 inches and omg.... it makes the Huawei look mammoth-like.
if you could fit this in your pocket, it would make women think you were hung like a horse.
@sroach23 No... they would think you have a penis like stingray
Is that a Huawei in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?
Darren, how was the overall usage of the s7 what comments would u say about it, and how was the over all feel of it? Thx.
Wait, is this Shanzai one?
$300 and I'm in.
Android with Google Navigation is all I really need. Being able to make calls is good option, especially if you use this as a device in the car. No mention of GPS being included and I have noticed many of the tablets announced do not have GPS when the IPad does. The under $400 tablets will likely leave out that feature, so I believe we have seen the price point.
$100-300 will get you bare bones, $300-500 will get you everything you need under 10" and $500-800 will get you 10" and larger.
I think 9-10" is bit to large to carry around, I think 7-8" is ideal if you plan on using it constantly.
After the EVO 4G's battery fail, I'll have to wait for either:
1) The Samsung Galaxy S PRO, this Q3.
2) That Tegra 2 Android NVIDIA has been talking about for ages; this Q4.
3) The new Google Phone in holiday season (Nexus One's successor) with Gingerbread.
All companies PLEASE enough with these cheesy chrome borders..
Expansys are quoting a sterling price of 299.99 so Uk price should be about 249.99
