Come on now, I'm no fanboy for either side but don't sit here and act like this is the first company to have a hardware/software issue when they are first released. Apple is not even exempt from this as they've had their fair share of problems with their device. You definitely have to hand it to Sprint/HTC, they rolled that update out pretty qik.
HTC is different because they admitted the flaw, and actually fixed it. With Apple, If steve jobs doesn't say its a known flaw, then its a hidden feature.
HP has had plenty of time to fine-tune its finger-friendly TouchSmart software, and now, its newest model, the TouchSmart 610, ushers in a fresh design, highlighted by a hinge that allows the display to slide down and lie nearly flat.
