@Frawley I can see what you mean, and I know some ppl don't want or aren't as comfortable with the iPhone now that it's so mainstream. For me, personally though, I'm comfortable with my individuality and feel it's irrespective of what phone I have and whomever else owns one. So, in some ways, I'd prefer more to own them as it'd make the content more valuable for developers. I want them to do this with all Android phones, get them in front of consumers faces, in more channels and us as Android phone owners will win at the end of the day (assuming you and others can also live with many others having your phone).
Nothing bad about the battery. I went from an iphone to the EVO 4G. Battery is identical. 4G burns battery like wifi does. Treating 4G like wifi (pop in on when need, off when not) results in 18 hour battery life using my phone the same as my 3GS. 3GS got about the same. Only my old blackberry did a lot better.
@darwiniandude Battery has lasted 12 to 14 hrs for me. Not sure what the original reviewers were doing to use up the battery, but battery life has been exceptional on my Evo with casual use.
Did the Sprint update the day before launch include not only memory card and root fix(block), but also some battery fix???
Either the reviewers were on 4G straight through, lying (I don't really think I want to call everyone who disagrees with me a liar), or perhaps the update did more than we know.
@darwiniandude Plus one more for the battery lasting a while. Today I kept mine on with WiFi all day from 1pm until now (11:04 pm) and my battery is in yellow. Have periodic usage throughout the day plus some poker.
This is my first smartphone and I have been thoroughly pleased so far.
@darwiniandude the early reviews about 4 hour battery were bs. I got 21 hours 15 minutes with moderate use, 5 hours browsing/downloading, streamed last.fm for hours and 40 minutes of video. I even had an inefficient live wallpaper that I knew was killing battery (32% total) but I kept it on anyway. Right now, I have 67% left after over 7 1/2 hours, same usage, which is a lot.
All I did was turnoff bluetooth and GPS, removed constantly updating full screen widgets, and put brightness to 50% (still plenty bright), no task killer. Battery life is wonderful for me but I can see a smartphone newb only getting 8 hours running several background apps/functions and if you hotspot, of course you will only get 4 hours. I got 30 hours on my Pre and hotspotting would only get 4 hours.
@Supporting Caste i love my evo but for some reason my battery lasts around 2 hours with moderate use. i keep my 4g off, so idk wats wrong. guess i have a bad battery
@N900androidOS ... darn, sounds like you should throw it out :~} Erm, just send it off to me and I'll (oh so reluctantly) try to find a way to use it ;~}}
@Bandit390 tmobiles network is faster then sprint 4g right now anyway. Don't rate me down, look it up first, and keep in mind this is for the time being. And it's for a lot of phones.
Eh... Why not? Those that "know" will buy it anyway. If they capture a few housewives who don't really understand the power of this phone all the better for them.

Wow!
@Gavin M
Sarcasm?
@Gavin M
It's totally a sign of the apocalypse.
apocalypse - true dat. but more like the Protheans are coming back to reclaim their network.
Harbinger: ASSUMING CONTROL!
@Gavin M I died a little inside. My evo feels...uncool now...
@Gavin M Looks like the system is back up and ready for more orders!
@Gavin M
If you can make it on HSN...
well, if you make it there, you know you gotta fire your head of Marketing.
@Frawley I can see what you mean, and I know some ppl don't want or aren't as comfortable with the iPhone now that it's so mainstream. @Gavin M You'll americans are spoilt for choice!!! So many ways to buy phones at such dirt cheap prices.
Funniest Engadget headline in a long time. I literally LOL'd.
As far as EVO appearing on HSN? Definitely a harbinger of the apocalypse. Like @Frawley says, it sucks the "cool" out of the EVO.
@Gavin M wow yes, but i felt like they were forcing me to buy it, felt a bit uncomfortable :/
@Gavin M WOW what its no worse then iphone or any phone at that being sold at walmart
This will get the at home ladies in to the know. About the EVO.
@Gavin M
And one step closer to the return of the reapers.
@CaryHiroyuki Tagawa
Notice @2min 10sec the lady says "You can watch youtube videos"
False Advertising?
Confirmation that this will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo?
@Kangal
Youtube app has been on Android since the beginning
@CaryHiroyuki Tagawa I'm totally digging the Mass Effect references.
@CaryHiroyuki Tagawa : Well, it's good that you're here Mr. Tsung. You can't have a proper apocalypse without an evil sorcerer harvesting souls.
@sfox8
Ah touch'e.
Majority of engadget bloggers* are stooges for downgrading my (comment to oblivion) observation and legitimate question.
*Myself included
I'm pumped! Where do I sign?
@darwiniandude
Wait a week or two. You'll be able to get one for $150.
@MosesusedaniPad I was being sarcastic in an excited HSN way. Cool phone though pity about the battery life.
@darwiniandude
Nothing bad about the battery. I went from an iphone to the EVO 4G.

@darwiniandude Pity? Really? I get 14 hours on my Evo under relatively heavy use, and it's still got 20-30% charge at the end of the day.
The techcrunch reviews are all lies, put forth by apple fanboys.
@darwiniandude Battery has lasted 12 to 14 hrs for me. Not sure what the original reviewers were doing to use up the battery, but battery life has been exceptional on my Evo with casual use.
I have the Evo and the battery life is better than the Hero or any HTC I've ever had
@darwiniandude
BTW, a hypothesis:
Did the Sprint update the day before launch include not only memory card and root fix(block), but also some battery fix???
Either the reviewers were on 4G straight through, lying (I don't really think I want to call everyone who disagrees with me a liar), or perhaps the update did more than we know.

@MrsMcG Good to know. I have a Hero and going to the Evo soon

4G phone to use on sprint's 2G service here. No thanks.
Even T-mobile has 3G in my area.....really.
@Bandit390
tmobiles network is faster then sprint 4g right now anyway. Don't rate me down, look it up first, and keep in mind this is for the time being. And it's for a lot of phones.
@deliteguy
depends where you are. I get a consistent 4+Mbps in my city. Even at my apartment on the lowest end I see 2.75-3.0
Why do people make broad statements about coverage when it's so unique to where you live??
The only common theme is that at&t sucks everywhere (joke kids, calm down)
if you think tmobile 3g is bigger than sprints than you need counseling
tmobile is faster though
@everyone does I think he was just making a personal anacdote
I and the majority of ppl on T-Mo in NY get about 5.5 Mbps down and 1.2 Mbps up so right now hspa+ is faster.
Muahahah.
Wow! Sprint is really pushing that 4g huh?
Never trust an Aussie selling an HTC.
@DarthMaul
Never trust an American identifying an accent
@HawtDawg Ha.
Eh... Why not? Those that "know" will buy it anyway. If they capture a few housewives who don't really understand the power of this phone all the better for them.
@Petch
The Lady presenting this phone seems to know this phone very well as well as Android.
The guy doesn't know much about it.
Just from what I see.
4x optical zoom. Schneider lens!
@darkazure Look at that horse....the big teeth, the bushy tail!
@JCrooz
Ok, my producer just told me this is a butterfly. Actually, it may in fact be a moth.
@ac2913 but look at that quality! You can even see the detail in the antenae.
You mean I can order an Evo 4G at the same time I order my Suzanne Sommers' skin care and jewlery line??? Sign me up
