HTC EVO 4G sold out pretty much everywhere
It's being widely reported that the HTC EVO 4G is sold out all over the US -- at brick and mortars and online. And while we can't 100 percent certain that Sprint doesn't have a few hidden away in some of the less traversed pockets of this great land, the fact that they're selling out shouldn't come as a huge shocker. The phone overtook the Palm Pre to become Sprint's best-selling launch day ever, though we don't have an actual number of units moved. Be sure to let us know in comments if your local store has any left -- we'll be sure to stampede over there.

I know why the evo is sold out
BECAUSE IT'S AMAZING!
screw iphone
go android!
Got the last one in probably the entire city today, typing on it right now. Its absolutly amazing, couldnt ask for anything better except maybe the g1s keyboard.
Ordered one on Friday early from BB, it came Monday. This phone is great was showing it at the office a lot of people said this is the only phone they have seen that might make them leave apple.
Got home later monday and wife took the phone, lol Ordered another one yesterday, suppose to ship out tomorrow and come in on thursday.
OVerall the phone is amazing and movies look great on it, as well as the sprint TV which is really cool
HSN.com still has some
The HTC HD2 also sold out. Remember when it killed the iPhone?
@Piestrio
Nope
Oh boy, I thought the 65k screen will be bad but once I use it, it blew me away mainly due to it's size. Although amoled still has better contrast and color. This thing is playing bad@ss.
after watching the iphone4 keynote, it is clear how apples approach to building software and devices is extremely superior to all other competitors. those other guys put either a poorly designed device or poorly designed software together - and now guess what, poor plus poor does not add up to great!
@fuesse
Have you used a Verizon HTC Incredible or Sprint HTC EVO 4G?? I used the Incredible for a month and have had the EVO for a week, Verizon or Sprint networks in the San Francisco Peninsula+HTC+Android are a winning combination for me. Please try the creme-de-la-creme of "all other competitors" before you give your opinion.
@theaussiepunk
sometimes you dont have to try poop to then "really have experienced" = know that it is actual poop.
however, most of the posters on this thread simply try shit thinking "yummm, i like that". pretty shocking!
You can't appreciate this phone by watching videos and reading press releases. You can get a good sense of it doing that, but when you actually hold one...the experience is what you want..
@TechBlogger That's the same with anything. Including the iPhone 4. Except, I think holding the build quality and industrial design of the iPhone 4 would handily beat the plastic EVO.
I used to have Sprint years ago, but the signal was weak, ( pre Edge days ). Have they fixed their problems? How does the signal do indoors? Will this device also work on Verizon?
@blogwhitesitescom , ever since they upgraded the network to evdo. I have been happy with internet surfing. The signal is fine where I go. Very little roaming. been with Sprint thru an HTC mogul and the pre. Switched from ATT back when it was Cingular because of the expensive data plan. Sprint is much cheaper. Check to see if u qualify for a discount. They have a lot. Your employer, ect. Even your bank might qualify u if it a credit union I think. Ask. That's what we did. discount basically takes care of all those extra fees. Don't know about Verizon.
We have some Evos here in Vermont! Haha. Radio shack in essex junction to be exact. Sprint is not known for their network coverage around here. On a side note, the sales lady tried to tell me it was the same size as the iphone...she is apparently not an engadget reader.
i pitted this phone in several key browser battles:
ipad v EVO (wifi only) -- TIE
ipad v EVO (4G v wifi) -- EVO
Hero v EVO (3G) -- EVO
Hero v EVO (4G -- EVO

I checked with my local Sprint shop here in NYC. They didn't have any but the guy said they only received 15 in the first place.
@AceMcLoud Exactly, that's my point. They are giving less to stores so they can sell out and create a hype. Sell a million then we'll talk.
Where should I get my dose of information about new smartphones (besides Engadget)?
My biggest interest is the european market...
Man.. I wish I had pre ordered at this point.. I went to best buy and they laughed in my face.
There are gonna be two more shipments in the near future.. All of them have already been sold..
would be nice to see the evo in more countries :( :( :(
This isn't true. Two Radio Shacks here in NYC can't even give them away!
Very nice hardware, but the Android 2.1 and even 2.2 user experience is a bit lackluster/unpolished in my opinion.
As far as Sprint's 4G, it probably won't be in my area before The LTE networks get here anyway... so meh.
Hope to eventually get an iPhone for me and the g/f. :)
The iPhone is good, but it simply is no longer King of the Hill. Eventually, there will be more Android devices out there then iPhone, and Apple, once again, will be a second tier, just like it is with Windows. The only real advantage to iPhone has is the ability to rent or buy videos with iTunes.
I like the look of the EVO, but the white iPhone 4 just looks so much better. Plus, Android just doesn't do it for me. iPhone 4 +1 buyer
@sbeck14
I agree i would have waited for the new iphone if only if i could switch to AT&T : /
I just preordered mine with Radio Shack in DSM yesterday and they said i will have it in store on friday.
Honestly i was able to get my EVO at closing time on the launch day it was amazing no preorder no reserve just walked in and bought three for my brothers and I. But in my defense i live in Missouri and i highly doubt anyone understands how amazing the EVO is so i really lucked out. So if ur really desperate come to Liberty, Missouri we have tons of them.
Interesting! The iPhone 4 has most of the media buzz but the EVO is selling out everywhere. Should be a fun summer watching these two phones do battle!
3.5 inch screen days are over unless your a Cinderella but I'm a man I have big fingers and don't need no girly iphones
.... From what i can see they are back in stock on sprints site ;-)
Cue the rampage
BTW. Yep the EVO rocks my socks. I love it..... waiting for backing to come out with protection for the camera and a bigger battery
The EVO is sold out??
Huh ... you wouldn't know it in my town. Granted it's a small Texas town, but it's a college town. The BestBuy & the Sprint store both have them. The Sprint store put me on a waiting list but I got a call like the next day saying they had 'em in stock again. I didn't buy one because I haven't decided if I want to pay extra for 4G when the closest 4G network is over 100 miles away.
@AggieKyle
theyre next to impossible to find in most places.. went to 4 best buys in PHX. All of which have 3-4 seperate waiting each lists for EVO.
Sprint + EVO is a great combination. My GF has the phone and its amazing, im pretty jealous. or, maybe shes jealous cuz it gets all my attention. My contract is up next month. I will be heaing to sprint for sure. think the availability will improve in 3 weeks?? suggestions?
Just wait till they start advertising the thing. If this is the 'soft launch' where most people barely know about the phone if at all, just wait till they actually find out more about it.
@kEiThZ Why soft launch? Why not any advertising? Why keep them less in stocks? Probably cause they had doubts it may not be sold. Company have confidence issues, I can't trust them.
Anything can run out if you keep them less in stores to create the hype. Just like those line wannabes in front of stores. I wanna know how many they have sold so far NOT if stores are out of stock.
