iPhone 4 at Best Buy on launch day? It'd be no surprise, really -- after all, the retail giant had both the iPhone 3GS and iPad right from the get-go. We just got word from one of our trusted sources that Best Buy will indeed have the newfangled phone at launch, and even better, we've got some details on the inventory. A minimum of 30 units for the 32GB device and 15 of the 16GB will apparently be available at each store, and employee purchases are banned at launch. We can't say for sure without more paperwork, but this source has been pretty reliable before -- if nothing else, it should give you a decent idea just how early you should be preparing to wait in line.
Oh, and RadioShack fanatics? Yeah, we've heard you can head down there for launch, too, but we don't yet have a clue as to how many will be in stock.

hmm. not the biggest busted buy fan. think I might decide to be stupid and wait at the apple store 6 blocks from work and go in with my new toy!
Oh snap, when the iPad came out they could only have 5 per model.

I'm totally just going to skip all of the worrying about it being sold out and I'm just gonna pre-order the thing. Hell... maybe I'll sleep in on the 24th and wake up to my iPhone ringing my doorbell. :D

@Ducman69 Yep, they'll sell out. Odds are by the end of the first weekend they will have delivered over 1 million units.
@Ducman69 yes, this is the beginning of the end of Apple. For one thing, they aren't profiting from the gulf oil spill like Google is, and that's a big mistake. Google understands that what people want is for Google to be paid lots of money to provide links to spin articles written by BP. Thanks Google! Keep up the great work!

I plan on waiting in line and snatching a launch unit up here...just waiting for an actual date. My upgrade on my current plan is june 24th so i was pretty disappointed to find out we had to wait. i'm just hoping it doesnt get delayed like the ipad but i dont think it should,

all the carriers are the same kind of raping customers. but i gotta say compare to the canadian carriers, the us's ones are much better....at least u guys just get 2 year contract the most, u guys can easily upgrade u phone , you guys get the unlimited data plan and lower rate taxes.....

You don't have to buy it from any carrier, just buy it direct from apple if you hate contracts so much. You can get the 3GS right now unlocked and contract free on the apple store.
I will wait for the Canadian launch...I just wish it cost less out of contract.

We are announcing 45 devices in every Best Buy store in America. This is just amazing. No one, had ever come this close. I think this will set the standard for many years. It's purely remarkable. I would now like to show a demo for you.

Apple became teh billion dollar company they are now with their WHITE iPods, WHITE iMacs, WHITE Macbooks (u get the picture) . Pearl white is different from the white they're using, but idc, I hate apple (but I do love their touches, and am waiting for a touch with a cam/mic built in)
I'm also poor and cannot afford a cellphone bill, and also do not wish to have a non-activated phone carried around... and with the worlds shittiest carrier - at&t
This is where and how I bought my 32Gb 3GS last year, I made an appt with the local BB and went in at my time, paid for it activated and out I went in less than 30 min. Much better than waiting in line and taking a day off work just to wait for hours at the Apple or AT&T store with a chance of not getting one.

@Oghowie I worked for the 3GS launch at Best Buy, and it was smooth as eggs... appoints were set and there were no crazy people trying to trample each other.
I wonder how many are being built for first run.

@Vadrix What I want to know is what is that grey line over the earpiece on the white version. Ive seen it in all the pictures, is it a sensor that cant be seen on the black version or something?

More than likely it's the proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor. They don't have to have the holes on the black one because the clear windows that they have in the glass are hard to detect. On the white it, the windows would be plain as day, so they made a tiny mesh instead.
Does anyone else think the White model is ugly as hell? It looks cheap.

Remember the white 3G and 3GS? Those looked like trash, I think this white model looks great, it might be the lighting that's ruining it for you, or maybe you just don't like white phones...
@hxczuner I ALMOST ended up with a white 3G when that was all I could find for a while, but realized I'd rather wait and get what I want, then settle for second best. On that note the white doesn't look bad, but it's definitely not my thing.

Funny. I almost got stuck with a black 3GS, but I held out until I found a white one.
I chose white because it doesn't show scratches like the black ones do. I can't stand scratches on my electronics, so the new phone will be great.

@hxczuner Yeah, it looks cheap with that white face... Wh shouldn't be seeing where the screen ends under the glass, at least until it's on and glowing. They should have just made the back panel white, and kept the face black.
