US PlayStation 3 gets four 3D titles starting tomorrow
Perhaps the PlayStation Network needed to be down in order to add extra dimensions -- whatever the case, Sony just announced that tomorrow will usher in the first quartet of PS3 titles to support stereoscopic 3D. Not too shocking, as it happens to be the same day Japanese gamers get the same deal. Entrees include WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD, Pain, and a demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. Looking to the future, PlayStation Move title The Fight: Lights Out will support 3D at launch. Of course you'll need a 3DTV to join the fun, but hey, looks like Sony's got you covered there, too.

yep,thats the problem u need a 3Dtv.(2500$)
@besi Which is ridiculous, because it should be simple for Sony to release a kit that would enable it on my plasma (which operates at 600Hz).
I mean, this tech has been around forever on PCs, and you plug the glasses' IR transmitter into the video card, not the monitor. Why doesn't Sony sell a USB add-on for it?
I hope some of these actually work with my Samsung DLP. So far only Avatar and Invincible Tiger have options in their menus to switch to the checkerboard format that DLP uses. It might suck that DLPs only displays 3D in 540p but its better than buying a whole new set.
@Tyrok btw, I didn't see ANY options for 3D type. I imagine by default it just sets the new HDMI 1.4 3D standard which I believe is alternate frames. So your out of luck. Sorry :(
Actually the Wipeout HD update went live ages ago. I was playing it for hours LAST night. Up till 2am playing 3D WipeoutHD.
For all the 3D haters, GO AWAY. If you don't like 3D just stop reading the news on it, and ffs stop commenting on the news about it! Just ignore it.
For the rest of us, its AWESOME.It brings a whole new dimension (pun intended) to the game. 3D gaming is where its at.
@Pyrofer I checked for updates this morning (I was gonna bring the PS3 into work and check the 3d out on the Samsung and Panasonic 3d sets!), but no update....guess I will have to wait a bit longer....(I am in Seattle, WA by the way, update tried at 6am PDT)
